Producer Mark Burnett expected a hit when he sent 16 contestants and a then-unknown 38-year-old host named Jeff Probst to the Borneo island of Malaysia for an adaptation of the Swedish competition show Expedition Robinson. What he got instead was a cultural phenomenon. Survivor instantly became a ratings juggernaut, and viewership for the first season finale reached north of 50 million. Reality TV existed before Survivor, but the show’s low overhead and potential for mass appeal single-handedly ushered in the reality-competition boom.
In the 24 years since it hit airwaves, Survivor has morphed from a “social experiment” into television’s most complex and grueling competition, with players practically raised on the show elevating it to new heights of strategy. Its motto—“Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.”—speaks to the complex permutations of physical strength, mental acumen, and social skills that can produce winners as diverse as season 30’s Mike Holloway, who got himself to...

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“It did feel like the Avengers assembling,” said executive producer Sam Rees-Jones of casting the first all-celebrity edition of “The Traitors” on Peacock. “We knew in Season 2 we wanted to assemble an all celebrity cast knowing that that would create a buzz as well, and would help build on the success of Season 1,” said executive producer Mike Cotton.
The pair, based in the United Kingdom, told IndieWire over Zoom that another key change for the second season of the reality competition series where “faithful” contestants try to weed out who among them are traitors before the latter steal all the money they earned from completing missions was changing the way in which the episodes were rolled out.

The second season of House Of Villains is finally going to happen. The names of the reality television stars have just been released. The list of villains is quite impressive. Reaching deep into the history of Survivor, there is a previous winner (and villain) fans will love to see return to reality television.
Previous Survivor Winners’ Returns To Reality Television
There have been several Survivor winners who have returned to reality television. Some of these previous winners have done quite well in their attempts to win the prize in new shows. Even though their Survivor days may not be over, they made the choice to branch out and try new things.
Amber Mariano, the wife of “Boston Rob” Mariano, competed with her husband on The Amazing Race. The first and only woman to win Survivor twice, Sandra Diaz-Twine, appeared on the second season of The Traitors. Also starring in the...

It has happened again. There is another contestant on CBS’s megahit reality show, Survivor, who is covering a tattoo. Making this situation a bit stranger, both the first and second contestants who have had to cover tattoos share the name “Ben.” The odds of that happening just might be as long as they are for becoming a contestant on Survivor.
The First Covered Tattoo On Survivor
The first covered tattoo seen (or not seen) on Survivor happened back in 2017. That was Season 35, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers. The tattoo belonged to Ben Driebergen. It was Ben Driebergen who went on to win that season and take home the $1 million prize.
Ben Driebergen, a former Marine and stay-at-home dad, also appeared on Season 40. This was the season where many of the winners came back to try to win the $2 million prize. Season 40 was known as Winners At War. It featured...

Rob Mariano, known as “Boston Rob” from all his time on Survivor, has faced many challenges in his long reality show career. Whether he was matching wits against Sandra Diaz-Twine and Russell Hantz on Survivor or traveling around the world with his wife, Amber, on The Amazing Race, Boston Rob is no stranger to difficult situations. Now that he is on Deal Or No Deal Island, he will eventually have to face what could be his most difficult challenge of all. That difficult challenge would be “the banker.”
Deal Or No Deal Is Now On An Island
Many will remember NBC’s Deal Or No Deal from several years ago. The contestants, the briefcases of cash, the briefcase models, and, of course, the banker. This was all filmed on a safe, comfortable television stage. That is not how it is anymore.
Now, there is Deal Or No Deal Island. It is filmed on an island.

A secret alliance from The Traitors 2 happened right under the noses of the castle guests.
This alliance may have been a big reason certain people made it to the end of the season.
As Traitors fans already saw, Trishelle Cannatella and Chris “Ct” Tamburello were named the winners.
Trishelle and Ct won just over $200,000 for their efforts in Scotland, and they helped bring some intense drama to the final episode.
Their experiences on The Challenge and in their Real World houses certainly helped them navigate this new reality competition show.
How they became the final two also led to a spicy reunion show with Mercedes “Mj” Javid from Shahs of Sunset lashing out about how she felt she was treated.
Sandra Diaz-Twine reveals a secret alliance from The Traitors 2
Two-time Survivor winner Sandra Diaz-Twine also nearly made it to the end of The Traitors 2. But she was Banished at the final Roundtable.

Boston Rob Mariano is back on television with the debut season of Deal or No Deal Island.
Appearing on the new NBC reality competition show has led to many new interviews for the Survivor winner.
During those interviews, while Rob speaks much about Deal or No Deal Island, he has been asked questions about appearing on various other shows.
With how many times Rob has already been on Survivor, it’s understandable that people would ask him what the future holds with that show.
Some fans have even joked about Rob taking over as the host of Survivor if Jeff Probst ever decides to retire.
Many Boston Rob fans also want him on The Traitors 3. A new season of the hit Peacock show is already in production.
Would Boston Rob Mariano play Survivor again?

Following her recent exit from “The Traitors” Season 2, in which she came in fifth place, “Survivor” legend Sandra Diaz-Twine went on Rob Cesternino‘s “Rob Has A Podcast” where she revealed whether she would ever play CBS’s rival reality TV show, “Big Brother.” Well, the simple answer is no — womp, womp. But the longer answer is a lot more blunt and hilarious, which fans of Queen Sandra have become accustomed to over the years. Watch the clip below.

Rob recently said he would be willing to return to Survivor or try out for The Traitors. However, he said he would only do it on one condition.

The Traitors 2 featured Sandra Diaz-Twine as one of two women from Survivor.
While Parvati Shallow was brought on as a Traitor by Dan Gheesling from Big Brother and Phaedra Parks from Rhoa, Sandra played hard as a Faithful.
Sandra also did well by playing herself close to people she suspected of being Traitors. It almost got her to the end.
Sandra was one of the key people in getting Dan, Parvati, and Phaedra eliminated from the game. This was done while ending her Survivor feud with Parvati and developing a friendship with Phaedra.
Future players may view Sandra’s strategy as one that could work, but her downfall was that she didn’t continue fostering her relationship with one particular Faithful.
Peacock viewers watched as Sandra got turned on by someone she considered a friend in the castle. And it has had a lasting impact on her.

The Challenge star Chris “Ct” Tamburello received backlash after appearing on his newest reality TV show, The Traitors 2.
Ct is known for his storied MTV career on The Real World and The Challenge, which included plenty of drama, fights, and occasional backstabbing or betrayal.
In recent years, The Challenge viewers have seen a more mature version of Ct, who even opted to share money with castmates after winning Spies, Lies & Allies with Kaycee Clark.
He took a hiatus from MTV’s competition before returning briefly for an elimination appearance in Season 39, aka Battle For a New Champion. At the same time, he appeared throughout The Traitors Season 2 episodes on Peacock.
Joining him were fellow Challenge stars Trishelle Cannatella and Johnny Bananas.
While Bananas was an early exit, Trishelle and Ct survived with three other contestants into the finale, where The Traitors 2 winners were revealed.
Spoilers will appear in this report from The Traitors Season 2 finale.

The Traitors 2 came to an epic conclusion this week.
After one final challenge to increase the prize pot, $208,000 was on the line for the Season 2 players.
Chris “Ct” Tamburello gets most of the credit for adding $50,000 in the final Mission, as he put on a show while the other players watched.
The final Traitor of the season was Kate Chastain, who was left alone after Phaedra Parks was Banished on the previous episode.
Phaedra from The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Married to Medicine had recruited Kate from Below Deck. But Kate wasn’t given much choice, as she would have been Murdered had she turned down the request.
People were on to Phaedra for a while, and she got voted out in seventh place. Kate then Murdered Shereé Whitfield from Rhoa to convince people the Bravo women weren’t working together.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of “The Traitors,” now streaming on Peacock.
Just like the entire season, “The Traitors” Season 2 finale was jam-packed with drama up until the very end.
After banishing the final traitor, plus two innocent faithfuls, “The Challenge” pals Ct Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella split the final jackpot of over $200,000.
“Below Deck” star Kate Chastain was the last remaining traitor after “Real Housewives of Atlanta” queen Phaedra Parks was banished in last week’s penultimate episode. However, Kate drew a lot of attention to herself at last week’s roundtable after she piled on Phaedra and called her “more selfish than skillful.”
In her first night as a solo traitor, Kate murdered “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alumni Sheree Whitfield, but the pressure was already high from the remaining faithfuls: “Shahs of Sunset” star Mj Javid, “Survivor” double winner Sandra Diaz-Twine, Ct and Trishelle.

The winner of season two of The Traitors has been revealed!
The Peacock reality competition series, hosted by Alan Cumming, has been a huge hit for the streaming service and fans have been loving this season.
In the show, contestants worked together on missions to fill their prize pot with up to $250,000. Several “Traitors” were selected by Alan at the start of the game, and the rest of the contestants are called the “Faithful.”
The Faithful must try to identify who among them is a Traitor, banishing one member in each episode after a roundtable discussion. At the same time, the Traitors murder a Faithful each night, while also working to keep their identities secret. In the end, if the Faithful banish all the Traitors, they’ll split the prize among them all, but if a Traitor makes it to the end, the money is all theirs.

The Traitors Season has crowned its winner tonight on Peacock after a season of murders, betrayels and banishments.
Going into the finale, the Faithful had uncovered The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks as a Traitor, leaving Kate Chastain as the last-standing Traitor for the season.
The Faithful still in the game on the last episode of the season included Shereé Whitfield, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Mercedes “Mj” Javid, Trishella Cannatella and Chris “Ct” Tamburello.

There are many lessons to be gleaned from Season Two of The Traitors, Peacock’s smash hit reality TV competition based on the parlor game Mafia: 1) that you should never drink from an ominous-looking rusty chalice, particularly if it has been offered to you by a notoriously cutthroat former Survivor contestant; 2) that virtually everyone looks cool in emerald-green velvet cloaks; and 3) that Peacock has an insanely high budget for both breakfast pastries and Alan Cumming’s headgear.

Recently on social media, a battle has been brewing about which version of the long-running reality TV show is better: U.S. “Survivor” or “Australian Survivor”? Well, one of the current Aussie contestants, Feras Basal, is challenging the American host, Jeff Probst, to let the two countries duke it out Down Under. “Cmon @JeffProbst we want Au Vs US,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Let them play with the big kids in Aus, we’ll sort them out with 47 days.”

Feras mentioning the number of days is important, because it’s perhaps the biggest different between the two versions. One season of “Australian Survivor” takes place over a whopping 47 days, or about a month and a half. Meanwhile,...

Phaedra Parks has been on TV screens off and on since 2010 when she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
After getting her marching orders from the Bravo hit under controversial circumstances in 2017, her time on the network seemed well and truly over.
Thankfully, that wasn’t the case because her appearances on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip and Married to Medicine were excellent.
However, nothing could prepare us for how iconic Parks was on The Traitors Season 2.
At the beginning of the season, there were some concerns when Alan Cummings chose her to be a traitor alongside Big Brother alum Dan Gheesling.
But armed with a killer poker face, quick wit, killer one-liners, high fashion, and a savage personality, the attorney became the best traitor to grace the show because she was unafraid to make big moves, even if it caught her a lot of heat.

Phaedra Parks has some words about her fellow Bravoleberty Below Deck alum Kate Chastain after their time on The Traitors Season 2.
Kate and Phaedra seemed like the perfect Traitors dream team who could win it all together.
After the Rhoa alum picked the Below Deck star to join her as a Traitor, all signs pointed to them taking home the cash.
However, that all changed when Phaedra got too much heat on her at more than one Roundtable.
It quickly became clear that Phaedra’s days were numbered so Kate did what she does best and turned on Phaedra to keep her Traitor status a secret.
Kate called Phaedra more “selfish than skillful” while also declaring that Phaedra was the only person at the roundtable that Kate could “stomach voting for.”
Now, ahead of The Traitors Season 2 finale and reunion show, Phaedra has called out Kate, who she feels took...

Andy Cohen hosted The Traitors 2 reunion special and is teasing some drama.
The long-time Bravo host returned to the stage this past weekend to host a reunion with everyone from The Traitors 2.
This is where many of the players learned what happened on finale night, and they watched the ending of the season finale together.
Interestingly, it was filmed in this fashion, but that could lead to some interesting moments on Thursday night.
Peacock viewers can stream the final episode and reunion show for Season 2 on Thursday, March 7.
Andy says that the season finale is just over an hour long and that the reunion show should be viewed right after it.

When “The Traitors” Season 2 finale drops Thursday, March 7 on Peacock, the game will finally swing in favor of the faithfuls and their faction will likely be victorious. Though Phaedra Parks dominated the Round Table for the traitors week after week, she was finally banished on February 29, leaving her final recruit Kate Chastain as the last traitor standing against five faithfuls: Chris “C.T.” Tamburello, Mercedes “Mj” Javid, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Shereé Whitfield and Trishelle Cannatella.
In order to win, Kate will execute one more murder and then have to successfully avoid being banished in any subsequent Round Table vote where the faithfuls will be asked to banish again or end the game. If they unanimously choose to end the game and Kate is still alive, Kate will take the entire prize pot for herself. The Traitors 2 is about to end, meaning it’s also time for the reunion show.
Players from the new season of The Traitors return to discuss everything that happened.
This is where everyone can discuss the drama, arguments that have occurred on social media, and who played the best game.
Many feuds have gone down on social media, including someone from The Real Housewives (Rhoc) making fun of Parvati Shallow.
Johnny Bananas also shaded Dan Gheesling after the MTV legend got sent home first.
So will the Traitors 2 cast be on the same page at the reunion? Or will this be a must-see TV moment filled with drama?
When is The Traitors 2 reunion show?
Peacock has already filmed the reunion show special. It wasn’t something that they could do live, but it is ready to debut.
The reunion will debut on the same night as the season finale, giving viewers some bonus content.

Two MTV legends have made it to the season finale of The Traitors 2.
Long before Trishelle Cannatella and Chris “Ct” Tamburello joined the Peacock reality competition show, they had careers on MTV.
Trishelle appeared on The Real World: Las Vegas in 2002 and spun that into numerous appearances on The Challenge.
Trishelle appeared on The Gauntlet, The Inferno, Battle of the Seasons, Rival II, and All Stars I. She even made it to the finals of Battle of the Seasons.
Ct got his stars on The Real World: Paris before dipping his toe into the world of reality competition shows.

Following the murder of Kevin Kreider, only nine players remained in the running to win the second season of “The Traitors.” Last week, the contestants were evenly divided between either banishing Peter Weber or Phaedra Parks, but we cut to a cliffhanger before Mercedes “Mj” Javid could reveal her all-important vote. So did Mj vote to banish Pete or Phaedra? And who became the next murder victim this week?

Peacock’s Emmy Award-winning adventure of treachery and deceit will return for Season 3 according to a recent press release. The hit TV show hosted by Alan Cumming won the Best Casting for a Reality Program Emmy after Season 1, where we saw “Survivor” legend Cirie Fields murder her way to a $250,000 paycheck. When the cast for Season 2 of “The Traitors” was announced by Peacock, some names jumped out to reality TV junkies as the ones to watch. Who would expect the likes of Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy, Janelle Pierzina, and Dan Gheesling to be booted out so early in the process? Furthermore, who would have thought icons like Trishelle Cannatella, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Parvati Shallow (a traitor herself), and Chris “Ct” Tamburello would be overshadowed and outplayed by two stars coming from non-competition shows: “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Phaedra Parks and “The Bachelor’s” Peter Weber?

Hosted by the inimitable and impeccably dressed Alan Cumming, the series features contestants competing for a grand prize of $250,000. The official description states, “Hidden amongst the Faithful are the Traitors, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithful and claim the prize for themselves. Under the cover of darkness, the Traitors murder the Faithful one by one in a treacherous spree, while the Faithful try to uncover the Traitors and banish them from the game. A new episode of The Traitors Season 2 aired on Thursday night.
Another player got eliminated, thinning the pool of guests at the castle.
Just as a reminder, Tamra Judge was murdered, and Janelle Pierzina was banished in the previous episode.
Janelle had called out Dan Gheesling as a Traitor (she was right), but Dan shifted the spotlight to Janelle.
Despite several people pushing for the Faithfuls to vote out Dan, Janelle got eliminated.
Janelle had also called out Survivor’s Sandra Diaz-Twine and Ct from The Real World and The Challenge. Sandra and Janelle then exchanged personal attacks at the Roundtable.
In an exit interview, Janelle revealed she had also called out Survivor winner Parvati Shallow. That segment wasn’t shown during the episode.
Janelle also announced her retirement from reality TV following her time on The Traitors 2.

Choosing Parvati has led to some great television, and she is good at being a Traitor, but did Dan make a mistake by not going with Big Brother’s Janelle Pierzina?
