Veteran Warner Bros. Television casting executive Findley Davidson has departed the studio after 15 years, most recently as head of New York casting. She has launched her own, New York-based independent casting office, Findley Davidson Casting, which will offer casting services for film, television, and theatre.
Davidson, who joined Wbtv in 2008, was made VP and head of the studio’s New York casting office in 2019, following the retirement of VP Meg Simon after a 40-year career. I hear Wbtv will maintain some casting presence in New York though it is not expected to be at the level of the past. The studio’s parent Warner Bros. Discovery has been in a cost-cutting mode post-merger, and casting is one of the areas where the company has scaled back, including the elimination of the HBO Max casting department in favor of adopting HBO’s model that involves using casting directors on individual shows.

It is often said there are no small parts, and that is absolutely the case on the best shows this year.
Every one of the shows on this TV Fanatic team-compiled list sports a collective of talented cast members portraying dynamic characters involved in complex relationships and life situations.
These ensembles run the gamut from comedy to sci-fi to soaring intergenerational drama, but they are unified in how every performer leans in on the team effort, supporting each other to create a show greater than the sum of their lines.
No specific streamer or network holds all the cards when it comes to tight-knit and inspiring ensemble casts.
Instead, it's clear that successful showrunners are smart in selecting actors they sense will work well together, pulling in the same direction and telling stories with fulsome and genuine performances.

[Warning: The following contains plot points from The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 4, “Masters of War.” So if you don’t want to be spoiled, maybe there’s a support group for ya?] War is hell, and it wreaked havoc on John Winchester (Drake Rodger) this week as our newbie demon hunter was drawn into a case involving former military members being preyed upon by an evil force. After he and Carlos (Jojo Fleites) went undercover in an experimental support group for veterans, the emotional trauma John has been carrying since Vietnam began to resurface, leading to an hour that messed with his head…and our hearts. Because while John and Los each battled with demons — inner and outer — we got more insight into how John’s mother Millie (Bianca Kajlich) was actually handling her son’s clearly shattered psyche. The episode also sorta welcomed Mama Winchester into the world her son has been dabbling in and opened the...

Known as the Bori Baba, or “Sack Man,” this week’s creature liked to “play with its food,” which tended to be children it abducted using their most treasured possessions. Lovely. Oh, it climbs walls with distended limbs, because why sleep anymore, right? Don't let the title fool you, "The Winchesters" is about so much more than the courtship of two doomed lovers. The "Supernatural" prequel has been pitched to its audience as a love story, tracing the origins of Sam and Dean's parents long before the ceiling fire tragedy that kickstarts the Og series. Instead of two brothers hunting down their missing dad, this series sees a young duo slowly falling in love ... while also searching for their missing fathers. But romance isn't the only major change from the 15-season behemoth that came before. The real secret weapon of "The Winchesters" is that it cares about so much more than just Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) and John Winchester (Drake Rodger).
For all its talk about "family don't end in blood," and despite Dean fondly dubbing their found family Team Free Will, "Supernatural" still jumped at any opportunity to shrug off its extended cast.

The CW’s The Winchesters season one episode two opens in Topeka, Kansas 1972. Hippies dance in a small clearing in the forest, living their best lives. A young man named Barry tells his girlfriend, Maya, he’s done living under his dad’s thumb. The couple head into the woods alone, and Barry suddenly sees his dad. Barry confronts his father who, as it turns out, isn’t actually there.
Instead, he’s under the spell of some sort of tree monster.
But before we carry on, wayward sons, let’s take a super brief look back at what we learned in episode one. If you thought that 15 seasons of fighting demons and daddy issues would be the end of the "Supernatural" saga, then you probably weren't paying attention. The titular family at the center of "The Winchesters" is evidently immortal and no amount of season finales or completed character arcs can keep them down for very long. This time around, the new CW spin-off series is delving into the untold love story of John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), the future parents of Sam and Dean. In a lot of ways, this prequel is treading very familiar ground: it's the same family, once again on the hunt to take out the creatures that go bump in the night. But "The Winchesters" boasts a few key changes. This time it's a tale of romance not brotherhood, it's set in the '70s, and there's my favorite change of all — it's an...

The Supernatural journey finally continues!
The series premiere of The Winchesters is here, and it was nothing short of the supernatural.
On The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 1, John Winchester and Mary Campbell meet for the first time, and their lives are changed forever.
As a Supernatural fan, I can say with my whole heart that The Winchesters is such a great series.
Like a lot of fans, I was weary with how they would tell John and Mary's story since what was shown on Supernatural is different from the prequel series.
But this story, as different as it is, is so fresh and new and still keeps you glued to the screen.
Drake Rodger and Meg Donnelly portray John and Mary, taking up the mantles from Matthew Cohen and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Amy Gumenick and Samantha Smith.

When horror series “Supernatural” debuted in 2005, no one thought it had the potential to last over 15 seasons. The series stayed on so long that it garnered multiple generations of fans, and found stars Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles marrying their co-stars in real life. But after over a decade of the longest monster hunter road trip in history that took siblings Sam and Dean to hell and back, (a few times), the series came to an end in 2020. And closed a chapter on the longest running and one of the most impactful genre shows in history.
Six months after Sam (Jared Padelecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester drove their beloved Impala “Baby” off into the sunset, “The Winchesters,” a prequel series focusing on Sam and Dean’s parents John and Mary Winchester, was announced. “The Winchesters,” premiering on The CW Tuesday night, is the first “Supernatural” spinoff to make it to air.
