Monika Christodoulou started as a Myspace sensation from her hometown Athens, Greece. Her debut LP "Avatar" (2008) became platinum in Greece and soon she was headlining major festivals around the country. Her second platinum LP " Exit" (2010) established her as a major Greek artist and led her to NYC's infamous Dunham studios where she recorded her third album, "Secret in The Dark" (2015). As an internationally well respected artist within the music industry, while organically breaking through European markets such as France and Belgium, she was signed by major labels and distributors (PIAS France) and in 2016 was signed with Songs Publishing (US) as one of the most valued acquired artists of the year. Two extensive tours in US and EU, plus one extensive French tour and live session "Tiny Desk" on NPR made her a familiar name in media outlets such as Vogue NYC, Pitchfork, New York Times, Liberation, BBC Radio 1 and The Guardian. Having performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the world (Herodion Theatre, Onassis Cultural Centre, Stavros Niarchos Foundation as a headliner of Summer Nostos festival, Baby's Alright NYC, Bootleg Theatre LA) Monika has written the music for more than 10 great theatrical plays such as "Antigone", "Brothers Karamazov", "Waiting for Godot" etc. and as a highlight of her theatrical career she wrote the classical music for the play "Danaides" of Andreas Kalvos which was presented for first time ever in 2019 at the Small Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus. Monika is expected to release her new album within 2020 with highly distinguished US music producers. In between, Monika releases her first Greek album in December 2019 and gives her voice in greek of the character "Honeymaren" for Disney's new movie Frozen 2. In May 2020 Monika released the song "Saving the world" as a dedication to the people fighting against the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease and donated 100% of Youtube proceeds to support low income medical staff around the world. In July 2020 Monika opened her live show at Odeon Herodus Atticus with a stunning a capella performance of the song. As initiative of AHEPA-Daughters of Penelope-Paris a video was shot in Acropolis, Athens Greece as a tribute to the heroes of Covid-19 and to support Greek hospitals. In March 2021 Monika wrote 8 new Greek songs for the movie "The Lost Daughter" by Maggie Gyllenhaal which was filmed on the island of Spetses, Greece. Monika's song "Stala" was also used in the film in several scenes. The movie is set for a limited release in select theaters on December 17, 2021, ahead of its streaming debut through Netflix on December 31, 2021.
