While grieving the tragic passing of her mother, Ashley Judd suffered yet another leg fracture in what she describes as “just this freak accident.”
She made the revelation Wednesday while appearing on Zoom opposite UCLA professor Dr. Jonathan Flint as part of an Open Mind lecture and conversation series put on by the Friends of the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA.
The injury — a fracture of the femoral condyle that she sustained sometime over the summer — came less than two years after Ashley fell during a hiking excursion in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In February 2021, she tripped over a fallen tree, suffering a “catastrophic” injury that shattered her leg in four places and led to a harrowing rescue journey and months-long recovery.

Wynonna Judd is opening up about her relationship with sister Ashley Judd in the wake of their mother’s death.
As Et previously reported, Naomi Judd — who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in April at age 76 — did not explicitly name daughters Wynonna or Ashley in her will. The late country legend appointed her husband of more than 30 years, Larry Strickland, as executor of her estate, while rumours began to surface suggesting a rift between her famous daughters over the will.
Now, in a People interview, Wynonna insists “there is no argument” regarding the legal document or her relationship with Ashley. The 58-year-old country singer also shares that she and Ashley, 54, will “split” Naomi’s estate after Strickland dies, and that they have no plans to contest the will.
“Someone told me while I was at Ashley’s house, ‘Hey, did you know that they’re saying this about you?...

Updated: An autopsy report obtained by the Associated Press today regarding country music superstar Naomi Judd’s death earlier this year confirmed Ashley Judd’s assertion that her mother died after she shot herself with a gun.
The report also indicated the presence of prescription drugs in the Judd matriarch’s system. Those medications are used to address post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorders.
“We have always shared openly both the joys of being family as well as its sorrows, too. One part of our story is that our matriarch was dogged by an unfair foe,” the family said in a statement to AP. “She was treated for Ptsd and bipolar disorder, to which millions of Americans can relate.”
A few weeks ago Ashley Judd, sister Wynonna and Naomi’s husband Larry Strickland petitioned authorities to seal the police reports related to her death, with Strickland indicating he did not know the interviews were being recorded.

Naomi Judd‘s family is asking a judge to seal police reports and recordings made during the course of its investigation into the legendary country singer’s death.
The family’s legal team filed the petition — provided to the Associated Press — Friday in Williamson County Court and said that, should the police reports and recordings be made available to the public, it would bring “significant trauma and irreparable harm” to the family.
Some of the other reasons as to why the family doesn’t want the records released includes that disclosing the report would reveal medical records and conversations family members had with police during the probe.
In a statement submitted with the petition, Naomi’s widow, Larry Strickland, said he didn’t know that his interviews with police were being recorded, and that he shared personal and private information to assist police.

As one half of '80s superstar duo The Judds, Naomi Judd never failed to bring outsized country glam to the stage. With big dresses, bigger hair and sparkle aplenty, her stage looks reached fantastical heights - sometimes quite literally!
