“Survivor” debuted on CBS as a summer program on May 31, 2000. Hosted by Jeff Probst since the very beginning, it is credited by many as starting the reality show craze that has been a major part of TV this century. After being on the air for two decades, 20 of the most iconic champions returned in Season 40’s “Winners at War” to compete in the first-ever all-winners season. Following a temporary delay due to Covid-19, the reality TV show continued with even more twists and turns, plus more diversity amongst its cast members. Tour our updated “Survivor” winners list above (or click here for direct access) that highlights everyone from Season 1’s Richard Hatch to the most recent.

After winning “Survivor 42” in May of 2022, Maryanne Oketch‘s life has been an absolute whirlwind. “I got engaged! So now I’m planning my wedding, which is hectic but fun,” she reveals as we recently caught up with her over Zoom. “Being a part of the ‘Survivor’ alumni community has been amazing. It’s the wildest thing ever. Like, Queen Sandra Diaz-Twine knew who I was and yelled my name across from a parking lot. That was the peak.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
As for what she thought of the most recent winner, Dee Valladares from “Survivor 45,” Maryanne calls her “amazing” and explains, “Dee played the game that I think a lot of us players wish that we played. Dominant the whole time, winning immunities, having a great social game, physical game, lying, doing all these cool moves. Oh my goodness! Dee played wonderfully and fully deserved the win.

We finally have a winner for “Survivor 45.” For those who have been keeping up with the season, it was not a shocker of a victory, unlike past New Era champs like Mike Gabler in “Survivor 43” or Erika Casupanan in “Survivor 41,” which many viewers did not see coming. And while nothing extremely unpredictable happened in terms of the winner reveal, similar to recent episodes of the season, everything leading up to the ending was eye-opening to say the least, particularly with one last-minute vote at the Final 5 that changed everything. Let’s break down the events of this intense finale “Living the Survivor Dream” and the shaky buildups.
Austin Li Coon was quite forgiving of Dee Valladares for not telling him about her plan to blindside his ally Drew Basile last week. In fact, one could say it brought them closer together, to the point where the other three remaining players Jake O’Kane,...

One might think that “Survivor 45” has opened up now that the players found a way to finally oust their unanimous target Bruce Perreault, but a core four of original Reba tribe members could control the game through to the end. Drew Basile, Austin Li Coon, Julie Alley and Dee Valladares have remained strong as an alliance and have a majority four votes together while Katurah Topps and Jake O’Kane are remnants of a Belo tribe left in ruins and Emily Flippen fights for autonomy as the last standing Lulu player.
With idols still in pockets and players eager to leave their strategic mark on the competition, the game will either sail lazily on with Reba staying strong or it will swiftly open up on the heels of betrayal. Can Dee and Austin keep their group together or will Katurah and Emily find more cracks to expose? Below are our power...

Outwit, outplay, outlast. The basic formula for competing on “Survivor” hasn’t changed since the reality series made its debut on May 31, 2000. Contestants continue to be divided into tribes and forced to form a new society as they adapt to their physical and social surroundings. Players still have to compete in challenges, build their social game and face the elements and hear host Jeff Probst yell his signature phrases like “You gotta dig deep!” and “Wanna know what you’re playing for?” — and they still have to look into his eyes while he utters the dreaded phrase “The tribe has spoken.”
While the essential gameplay of “Survivor” hasn’t changed throughout 44 seasons played over 23 years, the game certainly has evolved. A myriad of new twists and advantages, the 39-day format shortened to 26 days, and the evolution of the contestants themselves have led to the long-running series having...

Following this week’s elimination of Danny Massa, the final six contestants of “Survivor 44” have been named, and four of them are women: Carolyn Wiger, Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt, Jaime Lynn Ruiz and Lauren Harpe. The other two remaining players are Yamil “Yam Yam” Arocho and Carson Garrett, aka Carolyn’s fellow “three amigos” from the original Tika tribe. So will a woman win “Survivor 44”?
Since the new era of CBS’s reality TV show began with the Covid-delayed 41st season, two of the three winners have been female (Erika Casupanan in “Survivor 41” and Maryanne Oketch in “Survivor 42”), bucking the usual trend of men receiving the $1 million check. To date, 17 seasons of “Survivor” were won by women, compared to a whopping 26 cycles dominated by men. Last year, Mike Gabler was the champion of “Survivor 43,” the only...

At the start of “Survivor 43” it was looking like series history would be made if they had become the first season to vote five women out in a row. Thankfully they dodged setting what would have been an unfortunate record, but sadly “Survivor 44” is already in the same position. Setting aside the medevac of Bruce Perreault on Day 1, four women have once again been the first four voted out of a “Survivor” game. If the players extend it to a fifth next week, they will make history as the first and only cast to eliminate five women out in a row.
As things stand, the game will remain in the three tribe format for at least one more episode. Ratu voted Maddy Pomilla out first, Tika is responsible for sending home both Helen Li and Sarah Wade, and Soka ousted Claire Rafson after she sat her out for three straight immunity challenges.

On the December 14 season finale of “Survivor 43,” Mike Gabler won the 1 million grand prize by a 7-1-0 vote over Cassidy Clark and Owen Knight. The 52-year-old heart valve specialist from Meridian, Idaho played an under-the-radar game at the merge, particularly after Elisabeth “Elie” Scott called him out at tribal council as someone that should be targeted. Well, they didn’t listen to her, and now Gabler has become a millionaire — at least temporarily.
Gabler announced during the reunion show that he was going to “make history” on “Survivor” by donating his prize money to charity. “There are people that need that money more,” he explained to host Jeff Probst. “I’m going to donate the entire prize, the entire million dollars, in my father’s name Robert Gabler, who’s a Green Beret, to Veterans In Need.” The charity helps veterans who are dealing with psychiatric problems including Ptsd and curbs the suicide epidemic.

The castaways of “Survivor 43” have positioned themselves to set a new record next week — all they need to do is vote out a fifth woman in a row. So far the cast has only eliminated females: Morriah Young, Justine Brennan, Nneka Ejere and Lindsay Carmine were the first four players voted out, matching a franchise record. If they continue on this path and vote another woman out next week, they will go down in infamy as the record holders for longest succession of female eliminations to start a season. Yikes!
Luckily, as it stands in Gold Derby’s racetrack odds, the cast is not headed toward setting such a disastrous record. Instead, Geo Bustamante leads our current predictions to be eliminated in Episode 5 at 19/25. He is followed, however, by four women with decent odds to go: Cassidy Clark at 6/1 and Jeanine Zheng, Elisabeth ‘Elie’ Scott and Noelle Lambert all at...

When Survivor returned to air following a 16-month post-pandemic delay, it ushered in a brand new, twist-tastic era: A 26-day game, more diverse casting and smaller tribes weren’t even the half of it. But when Season 43 kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 21 (at 8/7c on CBS), viewers and its castaways are in for some big changes.

Survivor 43 is going to present some familiar twists for the new castaways, but it is also going to change things up in order to remain fresh.
One of the important components of the new season is that the people who played the game this time got to see Survivor 41 playing out on television.
It was during Survivor 41 that Erika Casupanan was introduced to the Hourglass Twist by host Jeff Probst.
It returned for Survivor 42, but will likely now be tabled since everyone knows about it.
Survivor 43 has already been filmed in Fiji, so Jeff speaks from an area of knowledge when he talks about what fans can expect during the Fall 2022 season.
Regarding the new players, here are the bios for the Survivor 43 cast, with 18 fresh people playing the game this time around.

As the old saying goes, once you reach the top, the only way to go is down. Perhaps that’s a part of the reason why so many “Survivor” winners never returned to play again. There have been 39 winners over the past 41 seasons, and of those a whopping 27 played multiple times. Thus, over the past two decades, 12 “Survivor” champions took home the 1 million check and never looked back — or were never asked back. See the full list below.
Several winners found success on their second go-around, like Amber Brkich (“All-Stars”) and Parvati Shallow (“Micronesia”). For others it took a long while to get there, like Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), who didn’t prevail until his fourth season.
Some of the most recent champs like Chris Underwood (Season 38), Tommy Sheehan (Season 39) and Erika Casupanan (Season 41) haven’t had a chance to return to the game quite yet, but we’re optimistic...

The “Survivor 42” merge has ushered in an exciting new phase of the game. Like the previous season, the controversial hourglass twist was implemented, allowing one player to flip the results of the previous reward challenge and make the winning team vulnerable. Like Erika Casupanan last year, Rocksroy Bailey elected to turn back time and made himself safe at the first merge vote, along with Chanelle Howell, Drea Wheeler, Mike Turner, Omar Zaheer and Romeo Escobar. This limited the pool of potential eliminations, with Lydia Meredith meeting her untimely demise. But do you think she was the right person to be the merge boot? Vote in our poll below.

Survivor Recap: Drop Your Buffs! — The Worst Twist Ever Returns to Claim Another Unsuspecting Victim
The merge episode of Survivor used to be the start of an exciting new chapter of the game. Now, it’s the most frustrating installment of the season thanks to the return of a quite unwelcome “twist.”

At the start of the upcoming sixth episode of “Survivor 42,” the 12 remaining players arrive at their next challenge to some interesting news from Jeff Probst. “You have entered the next stage of the game,” teases the host, “where tribes are no more and the game has become individual. Everybody, drop your buffs!” This is usually the stage in the competition where the tribes merge into one, which is why Mike Turner asks if they’re merged. “Not exactly,” Jeff responds in the “Survivor 42” preview trailer above. Cue the groans from the players.

Wednesday primetime was a busy one as CBS, Fox and The CW welcomed back a number of series. However, even with competing networks’ premieres, NBC was the night’s victor as Chicago Fire brought in the night’s largest audience and highest demo rating.

From lamb to lion to queen, Survivor has its first female winner since 2017.
On Survivor Season 41 Episode 13, Erika Casupanan won the title and the million in a Final Three against Xander Hastings and Deshawn Radden.
It was a long, hard road to the end, but it was a thrilling, twisty journey from beginning to end.
(This review contains spoilers from Survivor: Cook Islands, Survivor China, Survivor: San Juan Del Sur, and Survivor: Edge Of Extinction)
Many of the castaways have indicated this throughout the season, but the sentiment that kept coming up was, "I'm just happy to be here."
Even Jeff seemed to have a spring in his step. When the season began, it felt like we were getting some normalcy back. Survivor is a luxury that we certainly don't need, but it's something so enjoyable and steady and has been a part of television for the last 20 years.

After a diverse season full of countless twists (and one controversial hourglass smash), “Survivor 41” came to an end on Wednesday with one player winning the $1 million prize. Heading into the Season 41 finale, only five of the original 18 castaways were still in the game: Ricard Foye, Erika Casupanan, Xander Hastings, Deshawn Radden and Heather Aldret. Gold Derby’s racetrack odds favored Ricard to win it all, but did things go according to our predictions? And did a hidden immunity idol finally get played for the first time all season?

For the first time since Season 1, the winner of “Survivor 41” will be announced on the island. Let that sink in. There won’t be a cheering studio audience, no emotional family member hugs, not even a live reunion with all of the castaways. Jeff Probst spoke candidly with TVLine about the decision to scrap the live element of the finale and do everything in Fiji this time around, with one of his biggest takeaways being that he misses the “big energy” of having fans in attendance.
“There are pros and cons to both,” said the four-time Emmy-winning host about a live finale vs. a pre-taped finale. “I definitely miss the big energy of the live audience and seeing all the family members of our players. That kind of excitement is very unique because it’s more of an event. But what was really cool about revealing the winner in the jungle was the intimacy.

Over the past 40 seasons of “Survivor,” men have won 25 times while women have only prevailed 15 times. (See the “Survivor” winners list.) The past six cycles in a row have all resulted in male champions, with the most recent woman winner being Sarah Lacina in Season 34. With the Season 41 finale set for Wednesday night, all eyes are on whether one of the last two females on the island (Erika Casupanan or Heather Aldret) can break the curse this year. Or will one of the three men prevail instead?

Only six players remain in the fight for $1 million on “Survivor 41”: Danny McCray, Deshawn Radden, Erika Casupanan, Heather Aldret, Ricard Foye and Xander Hastings. For weeks, many “Survivor 41” viewers have suspected there might be something hot and heavy cooking in Fiji (and not the rice), and now Xander Hastings has confirmed he does indeed have a crush on Liana Wallace. “I’ve said multiple times that I think she’s so attractive,” the 21-year-old Florida app developer revealed in a deleted scene from a recent episode (watch above). “If she knew how I actually felt about her, then she’d [realize] it’s all the strategy that makes her think that I hate her.”

After successfully navigating the game’s new twists and turns, only six castaways remain on “Survivor 41.” Four of the six are original Luvu tribemates: Danny McCray, Deshawn Radden, Erika Casupanan and Heather Aldret, while Ricard Foye is the last remaining Ua player and Xander Hastings is the final Yase member. There is only one episode left before the finale, so it’s time to ask the question, who deserves to win “Survivor 41”? Vote in our new poll here:
Danny and Deshawn have been a pair from the beginning and have yet to waver from each other. Because of Luvu’s winning streak, the duo did not have to attend Tribal Council in the pre-merge. After the merge, they formed an alliance with the other remaining Black players, Liana Wallace and Shan Smith, and largely controlled the votes until Ricard came up with a plan to turn on Shan. On Wednesday night, “Survivor” introduced a brand new wrinkle to CBS’s 20-year-old reality TV show: the “Do or Die” twist. Host Jeff Probst explained to the Final 7 castaways that the latest immunity challenge, an endurance competition in which they had to balance a ball on a tiny wooden holder, came with its own special rules. If a player competed in the challenge and was the first person to drop their ball, they would have to play a guessing game at tribal council with potentially disastrous results. Anyone who didn’t want to risk their game could choose to sit out of the comp. What did you think of first-ever “Do or Die” twist? Vote in our “Survivor 41” poll below.

The Final 7 castaways on “Survivor 41” were in disarray after last week’s shocking elimination of Shan Smith. Her fellow alliance members Ricard Foye, Danny McCray and Deshawn Radden had just turned on Shan and Liana Wallace, which left the door open for one of the underdogs — Heather Aldret, Erika Casupanan and Xander Hastings — to pull through. So how did this week’s “Do or Die” twist shake up the game?

When we offered up our first power rankings for “Survivor 41,” Jeff Probst had just dropped the merge challenge bombshell on the remaining 12 castaways. Now, after Wednesday’s tenth episode, Shan is out and only seven are left to claim the million dollars.
Below we roll out our second “Survivor 41” power rankings of the season, and with our previous frontrunner sitting on the jury, control of the game is up for grabs. One of the most buzzed-about players on “Survivor 41,” Shan Smith from Washington, D.C., was eliminated from Wednesday’s 10th episode in an epic blindside. The episode saw the merged tribe, split in two at the immunity challenge. After the challenge, the two groups head to different beaches and separate tribal councils. While this twist was last used only two seasons ago, Marcus is correct that it acts as a temporary un-merging. And it caused havoc for fan favorites Nasseer Muttalif and Evvie Jagoda, who were voted out of the game.
