All the suspense is finally over with Tracker’s penultimate episode Off the Books aired on May 12. The show had a long way of teasing its fans with the arrival of a new character portrayed by Supernatural’s star Jensen Ackles, and the latter seems to have nailed it just like everyone wanted him to.
With Ackles playing the main character’s estranged brother, the fans were eager to see whether he would dare bring something from his Supernatural’s past back to the screen, but some specific details are just a whole new reason for the 2005 mystery show lovers to gasp in awe.
In the season 1 penultimate episode, Colter Shaw’s family tree starts coming out of the shadows as he’s unwillingly tracked down by his older brother Russell with the latter’s first phrase “Hi, little brother”.

When you pair up two ridiculously magnetic actors in an action-adventure series, what you get in return is one hell of an entertaining hour of television.
Tracker Season 1 Episode 12 may be the best installment since the pilot.
And I'll let you take a wild guess as to why that might be.
Whoever decided to cast Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw deserves their favorite beverage of choice and big ol' hug because it was a perfect piece of casting.
Tracker has a knack for bringing in compelling guest actors every week, but there was something extra special about Jensen joining the fray, and it probably had to do with the fact his appearance was two-fold.
Not only was Russell a link to Colter's past and a beacon of information regarding the Shaw Family drama, but he was also a significant player in the case of the week.

Will CBS decide to focus more on reality shows moving forward? Stay tuned!

There have been a lot of special guest stars this season on Tracker, and another big one is coming before the season finale. There will be a This is Us reunion on the finale. Before that happens, Justin Hartley welcomes a former Supernatural star to the show in a huge guest role.
Here is who is showing up on Tracker and what the storyline suggests will happen.
Supernatural Star Guesting On Tracker
After leaving This is Us, Justin Hartley picked up a new show to star in called Tracker. Hartley plays Colter Shaw, a survivalist with extensive tracking skills. He travels the country and makes his living by helping regular people and law enforcement officers find people for reward money. The series is based on The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver.

Jensen Ackles on Tracker: Colter Reunites With His Estranged Brother Russell in Exclusive Sneak Peek
The relationship between Colter and Russell Shaw is nothing like the relationship between Sam and Dean Winchester. That much is evident in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek at Jensen Ackles’ Tracker debut.
Ackles guest-stars in the penultimate Season 1 episode of the hit CBS drama as Colter’s estranged sib. They team up after Russell asks Colter to help “to track down a former army buddy who’s gone missing after several weeks of paranoid behavior,” according to the official synopsis. “The investigation takes the brothers into the world of Special Forces missions, shady off-the-books programs and conspiracy theories” — as our clip reveals,...

With Jensen Ackles being Tracker’s first season’s exciting guest star in the upcoming episodes, the casting news isn’t over yet. The show’s final episodes of the season seemingly claim for a significant expansion of the narrative bringing in more and more new characters that would somehow enrich Colter Shaw’s storyline.
Now that leading actor Justin Hartley has confirmed it himself, another addition is making its way to Tracker — the thing here is that she’s not new to sharing the screen with Hartley.
In one of his recent interviews the actor revealed that season 1’s finale will also feature Jennifer Morrison “coming on to play a key role”. Those who enjoyed Hartley’s drama show This Is Us back then will instantly grasp the idea of who the actor is going to reunite with quite soon.

Remember how Jared Padalecki recently suggested a Supernatural reboot and revealed that he and Jensen Ackles planned it for 2025 back in the day? While we’re waiting for more news on that, the latter star returns to his notorious cool brother typecast in another new TV show. This time, it’s a CBS crime drama that looks mighty promising from where we’re standing.
Tracker: Everything You Need to Know (for Now)
On February 12, 2024, CBS released its new crime drama TV show called Tracker. The series follows a traveling modern bounty hunter who’s capable of finding anyone and uncovering any mystery — for the right price, of course. His name is Colter Shaw, and he’s willing to help civilians and law enforcement alike, in case they need a quick solution to their problems and have some extra cash to take off their hands.

Now, we’re getting somewhere!
It’s been many weeks since there was any movement on the Shaw Family drama front, but Tracker Season 1 Episode 11 had a nice subplot that answered many questions and finally introduced to someone else in the family.
Colter’s sibling reunion, of course, surrounded a case, but the two opened up a communication line that seemed to have Colter questioning more things about his past.
Before getting into the Colter and Dory stuff, a very twisty and odd case was at the forefront here.
And it was a damn interesting one, with Colter first suspecting a college student may have just bitten off a little more than he could chew and then quickly realizing he’d found himself engaged in some pretty dark stuff.
A college student feeling overwhelmed and wanting to take a break certainly wouldn’t be abnormal. Still, from the sounds of things,...

Tracker fans who want to know more about Colton Shaw’s family will finally get to meet his sister in Season 1, Episode 11 entitled “Beyond The Campus Walls.” The CBS action drama series has slowly been unpeeling the layers of Colter’s past. But, this episode promises to open up a Pandora’s box of new questions.
It was in the series premiere that showed the Shaw family’s unusual story. Ashton and Mary Shaw were Berkeley professors. However, as Colter remembered it, there was an “incident with dad.” That led the family to move to a compound deep in the Sierra National Forest. Although they were off-grid, Ashton Shaw was very paranoid. Therefore, he taught his children survival’s skills. That means they learned to hunt and track, and climb a place called Devil’s Notch.

This Is Us fans will get a treat in the upcoming Tracker finale, as Jennifer Morrison and Justin Hartley, whose characters were great friends on the popular NBC drama, will be reunited. Speaking to Collider, Hartley, who serves as the lead actor and executive producer for Tracker, revealed his former This Is Us co-star will have a “key role” in the finale. “I’ll give you a little tidbit, in the finale, we have Jennifer Morrison coming on to play a key role,” Hartley told the publication. “I haven’t worked with her since This Is Us , and she comes on as an old family friend of Colter’s, from way back when they were kids. And so, that whole family dynamic leaks out a little bit through her experience with him in the finale.” He added, “So, there’s that. I probably wasn’t supposed to tell you that,...

The Shaw family drama is finally getting some attention during Tracker Season 1 Episode 11.
The hour will see Colter team up with his little sister Dory when a grad student goes missing after a house party.
Said student goes to the college Dory works at, and we'll see the long-awaited reunion between Colter and one of his siblings, whom we've only seen in flashbacks.
Little is known about Dory, as she wasn't a main factor in the flashbacks we saw of the Shaw family. And in the present day, Colter hasn't spoken about her much, if at all.
We know he's been avoiding big brother Russell, who seemed desperate to speak with him earlier in the season, but it hasn't been made clear what his relationship with Dory is like.
Colter keeps to himself, as we've seen throughout Tracker Season 1. He isn't one to date, or go on many social outings.

CBS’ Tracker released earlier this year may have brought Justin Hartley to a whole new level of fame, but the actor’s face was very well-known before the show hit the channel back in February.
Several years before he landed the leading role in Tracker, Hartley starred in NBC’s family drama series This Is Us, the appearance in which may have foreseen something bigger coming in the actor’s way from CBS’ part in particular.
Though the series eventually ended back in 2022 letting Hartley jump straight to Tracker, such a transition surely felt like a drastic change in all aspects, but Hartley seemingly had no problem with it at all.
A brief disclaimer for those who didn’t get to see any of these shows so far: Hartley’s roles have solid zero matches in the characters’ looks and personalities. In This Is Us, the actor portrays Kevin Pearson,...

CBS’ Tracker is seemingly aiming at expanding Colter Shaw’s inner world drama with some exciting guest stars’ appearance — and so many fans are hoping to see much more than just a one-episode-long family affair.
With the recent news revealed by Tracker’s leading actor Justin Hartley himself, Jensen Ackles’ cameo in the penultimate episode of the show’s first season is getting more anticipation than everything that we’ll get to see in the finale.
Though so far nothing can be said about how big Ackles’ role will get to be in the series, the actor’s fans think his previous experience may help him land something more than just a quick cameo.
Jensen Ackles has recently been confirmed to take up the role of Russell Shaw, Colter’s alienated older brother captured in several flashbacks earlier, but the role was given to Mathew Nelson-Mahood back then.

Well, that was quite the bloodbath!
Tracker is many things, but in general, it's not super heavy on death, though that can be a natural conclusion to an action-adventure story. Violence can and will lead to people losing their lives.
But Tracker Season 1 Episode 10 was heavy on murder, with many people caught up in the aftermath of a heist gone wrong.
Much like Tracker Season 1 Episode 7 was a showcase for Bobby, this hour gave us some insight into Reenie, who finally returned triumphantly after being Mia for a while.
Although we didn't get to meet her father, he was a factor, as his friend needed help, and it's always a treat when Gil Birmingham pops up in a show we love.
It was an exciting turn for Reenie to request a favor from Colton rather than hiring him, even though Colter would be getting paid in the end.

The mystery that shrouded stories told in procedural dramas like Law & Order has always been a key element that kept the viewers close to their screens waiting for another crime to be brilliantly solved.
And though throughout the years of the genre’s existence such kind of plot has become a bit trite, its popularity never fell victim to other hyping storylines — but a slight change of shape has surely done a good thing for crime-coded series.
One of CBS' most recent hits, an action drama show Tracker, comes as a striking example of the fact that the story can take a drastically different turn if just one element from the plot gets changed for something else.
Tracker’s storyline revolves around Colter Shaw whose incredible talent for tracking people or things (in a good way) could’ve easily won him a generously paid job in the police, but he...

Tracker has added a big name to its cast. Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) has joined the CBS Sunday night drama. He will play Russell Shaw, the estranged brother of star Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw. It is unclear if Ackles will appear in the remaining first season episodes or if he'll be seen in the second season.
This casting news comes only weeks after Hartley announced the casting of Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest) as Colter’s younger sister, Dory.
Starring Hartley, Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany, Eric Graise, Fiona Rene, and Mary McDonnell, the Tracker series follows a lone-wolf survivalist (Hartley) as he travels the country and uses his formidable tracking skills. He helps law enforcement and private citizens in exchange for reward money.

CBS’ Tracker has become a major hit even before the show managed to get to its season 1’s finale — and the second season is already on its way while Tracker still has two more episodes to air with.
Given the show’s growing popularity, it wouldn’t be very surprising to see some familiar faces in the recurring roles, and the series itself is already on it — with a famous actor whose role actually makes a lot of sense.
Jensen Ackles Joins Tracker
The big secret was unveiled by Tracker’s leading actor Justin Hartley who took it to social media to post a video proving that none other than Jensen Ackles will make his entrance in the show.
The Supernatural’s veteran will get to portray Colter Shaw’s brother in the upcoming episode that is set to be released on April 28.

If you've been wondering when we'll meet the mysterious, potentially deadly old brother of our favorite reward-seeker, Colter Shaw, you are in Big-time luck.
News dropped officially via Justin Hartley's Ig page that Jensen Ackles -- yes, That Jensen Ackles -- would be joining Tracker as Russell Shaw. And the internet is going Wild.
Why are they going crazy, exactly? Because Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles teaming up in an action-adventure series as brothers is just about the most perfect casting I've seen in a while.
And it goes far beyond the fact that they could actually pass for long-lost siblings.
Colter's journey throughout Tracker Season 1 has taken him across the United States, where he's helped countless people track down missing loved ones and even those who weren't necessarily looking to be found.
But while he's been racing around, saving the day and collecting his paychecks, he hasn't been able to outrun his past.

Actor Justin Hartley has become a huge primetime star with his iconic role in This Is Us as Kevin Pearson, not to mention his huge breakout hit this year, playing Colter Shaw on Tracker. Still, he recently had an interview where he talked about his “ridiculous” start on soap operas.
Justin Hartley’s – Early Daytime Drama Days
Before diving into the world of primetime, Hartley started in the land of daytime drama. From 2002-2006, he was in the soap opera (now canceled) called Passions where he played Nicholas Foxworth “Fox” Crane.
Not overly shocking, but the show took advantage of Justin’s chiseled features and ripped physique, showcasing him in plentiful scenes where Hartley walked around without a shirt on.
Justin reflected on his time with the soap, noting that the show had him shirtless around a hospital for three weeks. He adds that it was “ridiculous”, but he loved it.

Colter found himself in a rather odd search during Tracker Season 1 Episode 9.
This one saw him visiting an abandoned hospital, sitting down with a convicted killer, and once again questioning the impact the traumas from his childhood continue to have on him.
I'd say it was a typical day for Colter overall, but this one differed from most of his past cases.
Tracker has a vast canvas to work with as Colter traverses the continental United States to chase his rewards, but aside from switching up the locations, they also can get creative in the kinds of cases he works.
In Tracker Season 1, we've already seen him on the hunt for missing teens, an adult indoctrinated into a cult, a man being held against his will, and a witness to a heinous crime.
And this variety of intriguing cases of the week has made Tracker a hit with viewers.

Justin Hartley took a big risk career-wise when he took his now iconic role as Kevin Pearson in This Is Us. At the time, he was primarily a pretty face in soaps, and he took a big risk that completely paid off. Recently, the Tracker star reflected on his early soap days, and some of the “ridiculous” things he did when he got his start. So, what did he have to say?
Justin Hartley Got His Start As The Pretty Face In Soaps
It’s no secret that soaps have a tried and true formula of casting pretty people to star in them. Often, former models looking to break into acting find themselves on various soap operas. This is one industry where having a pretty face and toned abs can certainly work in your favor.
This was exactly the case for Justin Hartley when he broke into the industry and first got his start.

Daniella was the only person in a whole town who had any faith in her missing fiancé during Tracker Season 1 Episode 8, and she was right to, because as we heard ad nauseum during this hour, your past does not have to define your present.
Sully's troubled past had everyone believing he was guilty of something, and Colter may not have been sure what the truth was, but he certainly wasn't going to take everyone's word for it.
Colter heads into many of his cases with pre-conceived notions he can't help but voice, at least initially.
Called to a case of a man disappearing a few weeks before he's set to get married. Logically, you can't rule out cold feet, even though Daniella was so adamant that couldn't be the case.
No one wants to believe the person they love...

CBS finally made its NCIS Season 22 announcement and it’s all good news.
As NCIS Season 21 winds down, the network had to decide if enough viewers were tuning in to continue ordering new episodes.
Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, issued a statement in which she discussed NCIS and The Neighborhood.
For NCIS fans who don’t follow The Neighborhood, it is one of the top comedies on television, and it airs ahead of NCIS on Monday nights.
“The Neighborhood and NCIS are the very best definition of a CBS comedy and drama,” Reisenbach stated.
“They embody authentic storytelling with heart, humor and family dynamics. We are proud to bring them back next season,” Reisenbach finished.
CBS also crowed about the success that NCIS continues to have at the network. According to their press release, NCIS has been a top 20 series for 18 of the first 20 full seasons. That’s extremely impressive.

Appearing as a part of Tracker on CBS, Eric Graise has captured the attention of TV audiences.
The double-leg amputee stars as the technically inclined Bob Exley in the 2024 CBS drama. Throughout the first season, Graise's character has been a major player in the Tracker story, providing Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw (aka the series' central tracker) with valuable technology in his various investigations.
While Graise can be seen in Tracker (which is streaming on Paramount + now), he comes to the series having starred in titles like Amazon Prime Video's The Tomorrow War and Netflix's Locke & Key.

Everybody loves a good procedural, right?
The drama, the cases, the suspense — there's something for everyone, and every week brings something new.
That doesn't mean the genre doesn't have a host of problems that newcomers to the scene should be aware of.
If new shows like Tracker want to succeed in competition with procedurals that have been on the air for years, they'll need to set themselves apart.
But how can Tracker's writers avoid some of the common complaints that get lobbed at procedural TV shows?
Invest in Character Development
One of the biggest issues fans have with procedural dramas is the lack of character development. Every episode brings something new to the show, leaving little time for the show's stars to shine.
Tracker has introduced several dynamic characters already, each of whom shows great potential. If the writers allow enough time for it, there's a ton of opportunity for...

Starting my official petition for Billie to show up intermittently for the rest of the season on various cases to mess with Colter!
Tracker Season 1 Episode 6 had Colter out of the element we're used to seeing him in, meaning he had a full-fledged partner that wasn't Reenie and was instead a fellow reward-seeker.
The two had a complicated past that had them dancing around one another all hour in their quest to land a ridiculous reward.
People aren't the only things Colter will find! If there's a reward amount attached to it, and as we've learned, it doesn't matter how big or small, Colter is interested in helping.
A missing horse is actually right up Colter's alley with his tracking skills, and with the potential for an insane payday, he was ready to jump right in to find Argo ahead of a big race.

This Is Us was one of those rare shows that captivated people from all demographics and walks of life. It was the kind of show that was talked about in every break room and every office after each weekly installment aired during its hugely successful run. However, Justin Hartley’s own wife, Sofia Pernas, couldn’t stand to watch it. Why?
This Is Us Brought People Together
This Is Us had a successful six-season run from 2016 to 2022. In addition to having a stellar cast, including the likes of Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley, and more, the story captivated audiences all throughout its time on the air.
Even now, the rewatch value of This Is Us has no limit, as people who followed the show from start to finish still go back and rewatch the series. One of the other things it did was allow Justin Hartley to break out...

The latest Tracker entitled “Lexington” includes Justin Hartley’s real-life love, wife Sofia Pernas. How did this couple meet? Moreover, when did the two fall in love?
Justin Hartley And Sofia Pernas Met On Set Of Young And The Restless
In the latest Tracker episode entitled “Lexington,” there is a familiar guest star. Joining star Justin Hartley is his wife of three years, Sofia Pernas. She is portraying a competitor who has a past with Justin’s character Colter Shaw. This promises to be very steamy and fun. However, this is not the first time they have worked together.
Speaking to People, Pernas revealed that the two first met in 2015 on the set of The Young And The Restless. But, she doesn’t recall when they first met.
When Justin’s in work mode, and I think anyone who’s ever worked with him would say this, he is like a Terminator.

One of the nice things about Tracker is seeing Colter's compassion each week.
When the series began, it wasn't wholly clear whether Colter was just looking for a payday by using the skills he had acquired over time or if he genuinely cared about people and wanted to help, all while collecting a paycheck.
Tracker Season 1 Episode 5 was further proof that it's not this or that with Colter necessarily, and at the end of the day, he's someone who wants to do what's right.
Poor Colter couldn't even get some me-time in before he was needed on another case, but that's the state of the world, right? Over 2,000 people are reported missing every day, and most of those people don't have people who can offer up thousands of dollars for their safe return.

Tom Selleck’s Blue Bloods is unarguably one of the best television series in the crime drama genre. Aired on CBS, the series tells the life story of the police commissioner of New York named Frank Reagan, who has more than just problems at work and home to deal with as one of his children heads to the police force while the other is intrigued by the lawyers.

The network has renewed Tracker, its Justin Hartley-led drama, for a second season. The series launched Feb. 11 in TV’s best time slot — after the Super Bowl — and now ranks as the No. 1 show, according to Nielsen’s most current data, with 16 million multiplatform viewers. The network says Tracker is its most watched new series since Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon debuted in the 2017-18 season.
“Tracker kicked off our premiere week with a ratings bang and has kept the momentum going,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “We knew we had something special when we saw the very first cut of the series and the overwhelming audience response confirms it. We couldn’t be more grateful to Justin, the talented cast, the incredible writing and producing teams and our partners at 20th Television for such compelling episodes.

Coming off an installment heavy on relating the latest mystery to Colter's personal life, this hour gave his family drama a rest in favor of an old-fashioned mystery.
Tracker Season 1 Episode 3 found Colter in a small lakeside town where everyone was Very upset about the possibility of something terrible happening to someone when there are future timeshares to be sold!
It was bad luck for them that Colter found himself in the right place at the right time.

He's got a tremendous amount of knowledge and understanding, especially regarding the great outdoors, which aids him in his pursuit of missing people.
He's also very persistent,...
