A great number of theories have sprung up ever since FromSoftware chose to release the story trailer for Elden Ring’s upcoming Dlc. However, one of these theories does not just bring to light new predictions but touches on an age-old speculation of how the game might be greatly influenced by one of the greatest works in the Japanese manga industry.

The games of Hidetaka Miyazaki are unique experiences that will take players through not only grand and awe-inspiring locations but also those that embody the sentiments of darkness and decay. His worlds are not ones for the faint of heart, with danger around every corner and death your constant companion.
FromSoftware has mastered the art of creating such worlds, and the studio wears its inspirations on its sleeve. Berserk, one of the most well-known pieces of Japanese media from the mind of Kentaro Miura, is heavily referenced in all of Miyazaki’s games and the same is true for the Dlc.

Almost every mangaka tends to create a specific quality in their protagonists that draws parallels between the main character and the mangaka. However, this was not the case with Kentaro Miura and his masterpiece, Berserk. Miura, once in an interview, revealed that the character that replicated him the most was Pippin.
Guts in Berserk manga | Studio Gaga
Pippin was one of the members of the Band of Falcons who helped Guts escape. He did not speak much, but whenever he did, it would either be a serious discussion or to offer some advice. Pippin had a good relationship with Guts in the series, and the two were called the power duo of Berserk.
According to Miura, when he planned Berserk, he initially thought of only five characters for the series and all of them were based on his friends. However, there were no Guts, Griffith, or Casca in his friend circle,...

It was an easy, breezy installment, but some noteworthy moments.
We have Yasuda leading the pack as best intern on Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 6, while Simone and Blue continued to bond.
And Beltran had to juggle Levi and Amelink.

What were your overall thoughts on this episode?
Haley: It was fine for a filler episode. Nothing terribly exciting happened, but it set up several potential big storylines. A couple of moments made me think we're in for some pretty big reveals towards the end of the season.
Lucy: I liked seeing different pairings here. Link and Beltran, Webber and Adams, Kwan and Griffith. Otherwise, I was underwhelmed. I am sure we're in for a big season finale, possibly disaster-centric.

Kentaro Miura was one of the most decorated mangaka ever. His creation, Berserk, is one of the most iconic anime in the seinen genre. Unfortunately, he passed away, leaving his magnum opus incomplete. But thankfully, his friend, Kouji Mori, has picked up where he left off. Berserk follows the journey of Guts towards the path of redemption.
Berserk has one of the most gruelling plots, and the protagonist has to suffer a lot. There was almost no happiness left for him after his friend betrayed him. When Kentaro Miura was asked what kind of ending Berserk would have, he gave an unclear answer. He opted for a neutral answer, and the fans started to believe that Guts might finally be at peace.

The Kathy Bates-led reboot of "Matlock" may not hit TV screens for a while longer, but in the meantime, fans of the much-loved legal drama can still catch old episodes of the original run, well, pretty much everywhere. For cable-watchers, the show airs reruns in syndication, while home media junkies can get a DVD box set and those who prefer to stream can catch all nine seasons on Prime Video or PlutoTV.
"Matlock" aired for nine years, moving from NBC to ABC partway through its run and switching up its cast list throughout. Though several actors played more than one character throughout the series' run, only a handful appeared in more than 30 episodes of the series, most of them as Ben Matlock's legal associates. Of the main cast, Andy Griffith, Clarence Gilyard Jr., David Froman, and Richard Newton have all since passed away. Several remaining cast members continue...

"Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" is back in theaters for its 25th anniversary this week. Some "Star Wars" fans will doubtlessly be celebrating (and turning out to make "The Phantom Menace" a box office smash once more) and I won't begrudge them that. But sorry, I'm still not on board with prequel trilogy revisionism.
I was born the same year as "The Phantom Menace" premiered — it's the movie that introduced me to "Star Wars." Kentaro Miura’s Berserk is one of the top dark fantasy anime/manga to date, and Gut’s Dragon Slayer sword is featured in every image of the franchise. It has now become almost like a trademark for the protagonist to slug around the huge slab of iron.
However, it is because of the sword’s massive size that Guts can use it to slay the apostles of God. Every fallen apostle adds to the sword’s strength, making it more and more effective every kill. Let’s say that Dragon Slayer is no less popular than Guts himself.
So, indeed it should be surprising for Berserk fans to know that Miura might not like Gut’s sword as much as everyone else.

Even though the manga is most likely to remain unfinished due to the mangaka’s untimely death, it does not stop fans from delving into the world of pure chaos and darkness.

It seems weird that none of that would get brought up. Are Callie and Arizona together? Come on, now. I need answers.

On April 13, The Young and the Restless’ most beloved supercouple, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), will celebrate 40 years since their first wedding, and the show will mark the occasion with a commemorative bash. “I thought this anniversary was the perfect opportunity to celebrate Victor and Nikki’s icon status as a couple,” explains executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith. “It also provided us with the chance to give the couple some nice romantic moments after dealing with Jordan’s reign of terror.” Victor’s main focus will be bringing joy to Nikki’s world after a difficult few months. “At this point, Nikki is spiraling, thanks to Jordan, so Victor proposes the idea of the anniversary party to give Nikki something positive to focus on rather than her fear,” Griffith adds. “Nikki is hesitant at first, but Victor manages to convince her that their anniversary needs a proper celebration.

Two-time Daytime Emmy winner Eileen Davidson, no stranger to dramatic tales since her soap debut as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless in 1982, is tackling one of her biggest acting challenges yet: playing Ashley’s Dissociative Identity Disorder. The story began to take shape last year after Ashley and Tucker’s (Trevor St. John) marriage imploded in Paris. “Josh and I had been talking, and I happened to mention Ashley’s mental health issues [from the ’80s],” Davidson recalls. “He remembered and got really inspired by that. So, it was an offhand conversation about the character that tied in beautifully with what he’d already been writing.” Once Davidson became aware of the definitive plans for Ashley, she began researching Did. “When Ashley first had mental health issues in the ’80s, I went to Camarillo State Hospital,” she relays. “Now there’s Google. So I Googled it and talked to a...

If you were told to guess the highest-selling manga in America in Fall 2023, your answer would most likely be One Piece, Blue Lock, and Jujutsu Kaisen. However, the manga franchise that took the #1 spot in America surprised everyone, and it was none other than Kentaro Miura’s magnum opus Berserk, which outsold Demon Slayer and grabbed the first spot.

Although Kentaro Miura is no longer here to guide his beloved story to success, his successor, Kouji Mori, and Studio Gaga paid their respects to him by taking his beloved series to the top of the charts for Fall 2023, beating many prominent names.

Liam Neeson is the gravel-voiced titan of action cinema. Known for his ability to hunt his enemies to death, Neeson has thrilled audiences for years. Beyond the exhausting chase and explosive encounters, lies a deep well of respect and loyalty, particularly towards fellow actors, including fellow Irishman Jamie Dornan.

Yet, despite this connection, Neeson has revealed he never watched the “Fifty Shades of Grey” that propelled Dornan to international fame. While he truly respects Dornan, he does have a valid reason never to watch the steamy film series.

Jenelle Evans is back on social media, and she isn’t making many friends. In the last few months, Evans has been criticized by her social media followers for everything from her treatment of her mother to how she continues bashing her former Teen Mom 2 co-stars.
A new comment, however, has even her fans shaking their heads. Jenelle Evans recently suggested her kids are capable of taking care of themselves. Whether she was trolling commenters or not is being debated.

While Evans is known for saying outlandish things on Facebook and Instagram to troll followers, a recent comment has followers livid. Several days ago, Evans took to Facebook to bemoan being dragged in the comments of a previous post. When CBS announced its Matlock reboot in February of 2023, the casting news generated almost as much excitement as the revelation that one of TV's most beloved lawyers would be returning to the small screen.
One year later, Kathy Bates is still on board as the titular attorney, and Jason Ritter will portray her colleague Julian -- but a well-known newcomer will be taking over the role of Ritter's dad.
The network announced today that Beau Bridges will be joining the show as a powerful lawyer with the apt name of Senior.
According to a press release, Senior is "the managing partner of New York’s most prestigious law firm with an indomitable presence that immediately alters the temperature of any room.
"The man’s influence reaches far and wide, and although he loves his son, Julian (Jason Ritter), he might respect his daughter-in-law, Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), more," the announcement continues.

Elderly television viewers in the 1980s and '90s had an amazing Hollywood ally in Dean Hargrove.
The small-screen veteran got his start in the 1960s as a writer for "My Three Sons" and "The Bob Newhart Show" (the unsuccessful precursor to the wildly successful 1970s sitcom of the same name), and received credit for some of the best episodes of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." He wrote on arguably the greatest mystery series to ever air on network TV (we're not arguing if you read that passage and immediately thought "Columbo"), and kept Dennis Weaver employed as a producer on "McCloud."
But his most lasting impact on the medium was his 1985 - 2002 run as the producer of such old-people-go-a-sleuthin' shows as the "Perry Mason" television movies, "Jake and the Fatman," "The Father Dowling Mysteries," "Diagnosis: Murder" and the grandpappy of them all, "Matlock."

A century ago, the new artform was welcomed as an harbinger of universal harmony. Although it’s been pressed into service for darker aims since, some of that utopian spirit survives
Exactly 100 years ago, in an article in Collier’s magazine in 1924, the film director Dw Griffith made the following prediction: “In the year 2024 the most important single thing which the cinema will have helped in a large way to accomplish will be that of eliminating from the face of the civilised world all armed conflict.” He added: “Pictures will be the most powerful factor in bringing about this condition. With the use of the universal language of motion pictures the true meaning of brotherhood of man will have been established throughout the Earth.”

Cps has officially ended its most recent investigation into Jenelle Evans. According to several sources, Cps has concluded that Evans’ two younger children, Kaiser Griffith, and Ensley Eason, can remain at home with their mother and David Eason. While the decision stymied Teen Mom 2 fans, Nathan Griffith, the father of Evans’ young son, is surprisingly Ok with the decision.
Nathan Griffith is fine with the Cps decision
Over the years, Cps has investigated Jenelle Evans multiple times, but every investigation seems to end with most, if not all, of her children returned to her care. Nathan Griffith has spoken out against Evans and her parenting in the past. This time, he is staying neutral.

After an explosive end to 2023, where Nikki started drinking again, the Newman family tries to regroup. “Victor helps Nikki deal with the trauma of her vendetta with Jordan,” says Griffith. “Nikki struggles with her sobriety and will receive some unexpected support from some friends.” Claire, the daughter Victoria and Cole only recently discovered didn’t die in 1998, came to town seeking revenge. “Victoria and Cole navigate how to be parents to Claire and realize it may not be so easy to forgive and forget her past misdeeds.” The rest of Genoa City will face fireworks aplenty. “The Abbotts band together to protect the family legacy as Tucker’s revenge plot poses a threat,” Griffith shares. “Sharon will make some major decisions as she launches her new company.

Another former silver screen icon has passed, with THR reporting that Ryan O’Neal, star of Love Story and Barry Lyndon, has died at 82. While his star had dimmed since his heyday, at the height of his fame, Ryan O’Neal was considered one of the biggest stars in the world. His 1970 classic Love Story, co-starring Ali McGraw, made him one of the decade’s biggest heartthrobs, and he followed it up with a couple of stone-cold classics, including a few movies by Peter Bogdanovich. His first movie with the director, What’s Up Doc, paired him for the first time with Barbra Streisand, with the two reuniting years later for The Main Event – both of which were massive hits. Probably his best movie with Bogdanovich, Paper Moon, paired him with his daughter, Tatum O’Neal, who took home an Oscar for her role in this black-and-white depression-set classic.

Ultra-prolific writer-director, fiercely independent producer, pioneering entrepreneur, self-made studio chief. Any and all of these labels apply to Tyler Perry, though the one the boundary-obliterating multi-hyphenate chooses for himself is “Maxine’s Baby” — the same moniker that documentary duo Gelila Bekele and Armani Ortiz opted to give their motivational profile of Perry, who comes off disarmingly humble for someone who’s achieved so much. While not quite hagiography, the worshipful project is so committed to touting Perry’s accomplishments that it takes the rare step of counting his agents and publicist (whose actual job it is to hype him) among its adoring sources.
Early on, Perry’s plays and films served both to inspire and provide moral example, heavy-handedly addressing topics — such as infidelity, drug addiction and child sexual abuse — that Black audiences were more accustomed to hearing about in church than on the big screen. Today, with two dozen...

“Take a good look, my dear. It’s a historic moment you can tell your grandchildren about—how you watched the Old South fall one night.” That’s perhaps not the most famous line from the 1939 classic “Gone With the Wind,” but it’s possibly the most cutting example of the complicated legacy contained within it.
In 2023, how much should one be telling their grandchildren about this film’s knotty endurance, given its revisionist depictions of contented slaves devoted to kind masters in the Civil War-torn South? And what if those grandchildren are currently enrolled in film schools that traditionally have taught “Gone With the Wind” as a prime example of filmmaking prowess?

This article contains spoilers for "Gen V" episode 6.
Part of the reason Prime Video's "The Boys" has been acclaimed is the ways it has adapted its source material, a satirical superhero gore-fest by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The comic has its moments of pathos, but it's mostly just a vile splatterfest. There's so much bad taste abound in the 72 issues that it often makes you wish your brain could spit it out.
"The Boys" TV series (developed by Eric Kripke) keeps the violence and dark humor, but it sharpens the comic's genre critique while updating it for modern politics. The superheroes of "The Boys" are still stand-ins for the rot of corporate America and celebrity culture. However, the TV show explores its characters with more sincerity (take the musical scene in episode 5). Kripke's "The Boys" doesn't laugh at its characters (at least not the leads) in the same way that Ennis' does.

Can complete and utter isolation shatter one's concept of the self and their sense of reality? The answers might vary, but in Robert Eggers' "The Lighthouse," an isolation-induced psychological breakdown is a shared experience that festers and mutates between two men forced to share a cramped lighthouse quarter off the coast of New England. Lighthouse keepers Thomas Wake (Willem Dafoe) and Ephraim (Robert Pattinson) might appear to share conflicting sensibilities, but their tense, volatile relationship accommodates multitudes. There's incessant bickering and incandescent rage, unflinchingly honest heart to hearts, and tender, drunken camaraderie that often edges towards repressed homoeroticism.
As a result, isolation is the most benign threat in "The Lighthouse" — if anything, the presence of the other intensifies the feeling of being trapped in a horrifying fever dream, where intense, infectious chaos ricochets between two souls until it devours the very fabric of their realities. The irony of two lighthouse keepers,...

Below Deck’s Aesha Scott Joins Leah Shafer and Top Doc for Real Talk About Breast Cancer [Exclusive]
Facing a possible breast cancer diagnosis is scary, but catching it early can be lifesaving. For Captain Sandy Yawn‘s girlfriend, Leah Shafer, early detection made all the difference.
Shafer has Lcis (atypical lobular carcinoma in situ), which is “a condition where abnormal cells are found in the lobules of the breast. It is considered a non-invasive form of breast cancer, but it does increase the risk of developing invasive breast cancer in the future,” Shafer shared on Instagram.
She gets checked every six months and recently had a biopsy and her second lumpectomy. Shafer turned to breast surgical oncologist, Dr. Kayla Griffith for her surgery – who happens to be a close friend of Below Deck Down Under‘s chief stew Aesha Scott.

The Andy Griffith Show continues to amass fans decades after the series’ final episode aired. Part of the show’s allure is the simple, homey, and comfortable feel of the fictional town of Mayberry, where Andy Taylor lived with his young son. Andy and Opie’s house was featured on the show regularly, and while the abode was modest, it still felt comfortable. Do you know how much the home would be worth today, though? We did some digging and found comparable properties.

Nathan Griffith is in a world of legal trouble. The former marine rose to fame when he appeared on Teen Mom 2 with his then-fiancee, Janelle Evans. It has been years since the couple were last together, but Griffith remains in the public eye and rarely for positive news. Most recently, Griffith was arrested twice in just two months. First for driving under the influence and later for domestic battery. It is far from Nathan Griffith’s first arrest, though.

In June 2023, Nathan Griffith was arrested for driving under the influence in Miami Beach, Florida. The arrest came after concerned citizens called police to report a fight. According to several sources, Griffith and his wife had a heated argument before Griffith took off. When police located him, he was sitting inside his car with the engine running.

Somewhere in the middle of Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, the eponymous young character (Asa Butterfield) dreams of a catastrophe in which a steam train runs over him, careens through the Gare Montparnasse railway terminal, and takes a nosedive into the street outside. While it isn’t made clear, or mentioned at all after he wakes up, the disaster he dreams about is based on a real crash at the same station that happened in 1895, mere months before the public exhibition of the Lumière brothers’ seminal actuality film Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat.
As the persistent but largely embellished filmic chestnut has it, audience members who first witnessed the Lumières’ cinematographic train fled the screening room in Paris in a panic, reacting as if they were in real danger of being run over. If you “print the legend” regarding these perhaps apocryphal, panicking spectators, it’s not too much...

Last November, The Lion King musical celebrated its 25th anniversary on Broadway, marking the stage adaption of Disney’s 1994 animated film as one of the longest-running productions in New York theater history, and presently Broadway’s highest-grossing.
But the legacy of the Tony-winning show, which transferred from Minneapolis’s Orpheum Theatre to Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre in 1997 before moving to its current home, the Minskoff Theatre, in 2006, spans far beyond its more than 10,000 performances in New York. The show, originally directed by Julie Taymor, has played around 60,000 performances worldwide, with more than 100,000 people viewing the puppet-led show featuring music from Hans Zimmer and Elton John in 10 productions weekly across multiple continents. That global success has helped make The Lion King the highest-grossing entertainment property in film and stage history, with the show grossing more than 8 billion in 2017.

“That’s not art. A striptease isn’t art. It’s too direct. It’s more direct than art.”
That line from Akira Kurosawa’s “Ikiru” sums up a lot of feelings people seem to have about nudity in film. The history of painting and sculpture is full of nude portraiture, which is regularly and comfortably classified as art. But the nude scene in movies is rarely discussed alongside a Canova marble statue or Manet’s “Olympia.” Movies blur the boundaries between “real life” and artistic indirection so thoroughly that people discuss nude scenes in movies as practically everything but art. It’s “content” that deserves an “advisory,” or something akin to “porn,” however the Supreme Court is classifying that these days.
As many have noted, the very nature of the actor’s job demands the audience look at them. So when nudity enters the (literal) picture, it complicates the relationship between viewer and viewed.

The Daughters of Fire.Three square images, placed side by side on the screen. The full frame is as wide as CinemaScope, which Fritz Lang famously said was only suitable for snakes and funerals. On the left, a woman stares forward as she stalks, like a Jacques Tourneur character, toward no certain destination; as she does so—singing, half her face shrouded in shadow—she passes through a seemingly endless corridor of ash, an ever-rotating carousel of clay streaked with wisps of fire. In the center frame, another woman lies prone, bent over on the shores of a volcanic beach. The sea laps in apocalyptic, dusky light behind her, the horizon stretches out to the limits of vision; uncertainly, she heaves her body upright to sit as she sings. In the far-right frame, another woman peers out from around a doorframe, staring into the camera, also singing in direct counterpoint with the other two women,...
