Juan Hernández, a member of AEC, the Spanish Society of Cinematographers and also member of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, has built a career as a freelance cinematographer since 1996.
He has photographed twelve films, more than fifty short films, around two hundred commercials, thirty music videos, five documentaries films, a television documentary series and a episodic drama series. He has shot in practically all available cinematographic formats.
Born in southern Spain, he studied Geological Sciences at Granada's University of Sciences and then cinematography at TAI's academy in Madrid. Soon after, he worked as director of photography at Canal+ Spain and Spanish public television, TVE.
In 2000, he started working as a freelance cinematographer in film and advertising productions.
Some of his most distinguished work includes the following films: 8 Citas (2007), El Espejo (2007), Cesado (2008), Siete Años de Matrimonio (2011), The First (2013), Schimbare (2013), and documentaries: Kingdom Of Shadows (2014), El Paso (2014), Historias de Mujeres (2014) and the TV series Drenaje Profundo (2010), produced by TV Azteca and MGM Latin America.
Juan has also worked as photographer for UNICEF in Africa.
He has lived in Mexico since 2008, working mostly in Latin America, Europe and United
States of America.
In 2011, he founded his own production company, unoenlouno films, where he develops projects as documentary filmmaker and film producer.
