John Krasinski went from playing Jim in The Office to becoming one of the most successful actor-writer-director of this generation. After finding success with A Quiet Place franchise, which he wrote and directed himself, now Krasinski is back with the movie If. If or Imaginary Friend, is the latest movie from his bag of brilliance, which, again, the 44-year-old wrote and directed himself.

The movie has all the who’s who from the industry, starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Krasinski himself, alongside his wife, Emily Blunt, and so many others. Cailey Fleming is at the center of the story, who goes on a magical adventure to reconnect people with their imaginary friend who they have lost on their way. The movie recently released its final trailer before premier, and it is a crossover we did not know we needed.

From cancelled celebrity frogs to heartbroken shrimp, the vast “Smiling Friends” universe is home to a lot of strange side characters. But co-creators Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel took things to another level for the Season 2 premiere of their Adult Swim series. The episode, which sports the concise title “Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition Dx 4K (Anniversary Director’s Cut),” follows the eponymous Smiling Friends as they attempt to cheer up Gwimbly, a beloved ’90s video game character who is unable to star in new games because the evil corporation known as Insane Groundbreaking Games refuses to grant him access to his own I.P.
The episode, which was previewed for fans last month after the network’s puppet-filled April Fool’s prank, is a classic “Smiling Friends” adventure that sees the gang rescue Gwimbly from his sad life of making undignified Cameo videos and help him produce his own independent game.

Ben Schwartz has teased the "gratifying" introduction of Shadow in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3'.It was announced last month that Keanu Reeves would be lending his voice to the character in the third instalment of the film franchise based on Sega's popular video games and Ben - who will once again be voicing the titular speedster - says that Shadow has been included with the fans in mind. The 42-year-old star told Screen Rant: "Well, I think it's also exciting for me when you get to introduce another character from the video games."For me, it's gratifying and lovely, and also, Shadow, to me - people have rankings of which is their favourite Sonic characters, but to me, I think we're hitting all of the A sides. Some people say they prefer video games to any kind of TV show these days, and it's not hard to see why. Not only do games offer amazing stories and great graphics, but they also draw you in and make you feel like a part of the universe in which the events take place.
However, games take time, skill, and patience, and they're not for everyone. So, if you are interested in some of the plots of video games, but want to sit back and relax while watching them, here are 8 best adaptations that might be a perfect choice.
8. Sonic Prime (2022-...) – 60%
The fate of the world is once again in Sonic's hands as he must use his super speed to save the newly created multiverse. Although the latest installment of the famous hedgehog's journey didn't impress audiences too much, viewers were much more appreciative, giving the show an 86% approval rating.

Sonic the Hedgehog is quite the asset for Paramount+.
The streamer debuted the six-episode limited series Knuckles on April 26, expanding the “Cinematic World of Sonic the Hedgehog” — and setting a streaming record in the process.
In its premiere weekend, Knuckles became the most-watched Paramount+ original series of all time with more than 4M hours streamed over that time frame. It’s also Paramount+’s most watched kids and family title ever.
Paramount+ rarely releases streaming data on its own accord, last touting the success of Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Just two episodes of that series amassed around 7.5M viewers globally in its first week on the platform. Of course, that also included a broadcast sampling run, which Knuckles did not receive.

“Knuckles,” the live-action/animated spinoff series currently streaming on Paramount+ and featuring the titular red Echidna warrior (voiced by Idris Elba), kicks things off with an amusing ’90s throwback opening title sequence. We encounter markered animations (done by Picturemill) of the main characters, as they jump across the labels of mixed CDs in a binder and roll by the credits, to the tune of “The Warrior” by Scandal featuring Patty Smyth.
It’s all part of Knuckles getting introduced to the “earth music” of his new protégé, dim-witted deputy sheriff Wade Whipples (Adam Pally), while trying to teach him the ways of Echidna-style fighting.
This marks the first series for Knuckles, based on Sega’s popular Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise, which takes place between the events of the films “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” which introduced Elba. It was created by John Whittington (“Sonic the Hedgehog 2...

Knuckles the Echidna. He’s rougher than the rest of them, the best of them, tougher than leather, as his famous theme song boasts. Since the 1980s, the two biggest gaming companies, Sega and Nintendo, have been engaged in fierce competition to capture the gaming market. To rival the popularity of Nintendo’s iconic poster boy, Mario, Sega created Sonic the Hedgehog in the 1990s. The extremely favorable reception of the speedster hedgehog resulted in Sega venturing into multiple media productions and firmly establishing their legacy in the pop culture business. Even when it came to the silver screen adaptations, it was the overwhelming success of the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie that paved the way for movie adaptations of several popular video game titles.
After the consecutive success of the first two Sonic movies and the buildup of a strong buzz revolving around the third entry due to the confirmation of fan favorite Shadow’s inclusion as an antagonist, Paramount has started feeling pretty confident about building a full-fledged franchise with the Sonic universe.

Buddy comedies don’t get much stranger or sillier than Knuckles, Paramount+‘s terrifically fun expansion of the Sonic the Hedgehog film universe. In the six-part event, world-traveling style icon and Happy Endings icon Adam Pally reprises his role as Wade Whipple from the films, along with Idris Elba, who returns as the voice of Sonic’s foe-turned-ally Knuckles. But since Elba’s alter-ego is all CGI, it was up to Pally—once again proving his prowess as a comic leading man—to unleash his inner action star for the series. “I was so happy to do it,” he admits of the stunt work required of his character, reflexively tossing in some self-deprecation, in the video above. “A man of my normal build and size doesn’t usually get to do wire work, and so it was really thrilling to get all the resources that you imagine the Marvel people get.

Sonic has captured the hearts of fans across generations, whether through video games, cartoons, or recent movie adaptations. With Jim Carrey stepping in, his comedic genius made it seem like the portrayal of Dr. Robotnik was in safe hands. Yet many fans couldn’t shake the feeling that something essential was absent after witnessing it on the big screen.
Turns out it wasn’t just about the sincerity with which the actor played the role, but it was the iconic shape, the very essence from which Dr. Eggman, or Robotnik as many know him, was missing.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Why Some Fans Were Disappointed with Jim Carrey’s Doctor Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, better known as Dr. Eggman, is the main baddie in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. He’s a genius scientist with an Iq of 300 and ruler of the Eggman Empire, constantly plotting to take over the world.

Reeves is said to be voicing the character of Shadow.
Paramount recently showcased footage at CinemaCon featuring Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik in the upcoming movie. The footage portrayed Dr. Robotnik as depressed and out of shape due to the events that took place in the 2nd movie. However, he managed to regain his confidence by creating Shadow the Hedgehog, which was first introduced in the video game ‘Sonic Adventure 2’ in 2001. Shadow is a character that acts as the opposite of Sonic – he has a dark and edgy personality while sharing many of the hero’s powers.

Remember how the live-action version of Sonic the Hedgehog had a rough start? The fans were horrified by the leaked design of the character, as Paramount initially opted for a more original design, which was panned by fans, so they decided to listen to them and simply keep the original design, and this turned out to be the best decision they made. The first movie was a massive hit, and so was the sequel, so it was no surprise that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was quickly announced, and we can confirm that the movie is set for a December 20, 2024 theatrical release.
And while we’ve had several updates related to the movie, including Jim Carrey’s confirmed return as Dr. Robotnik, today is a big day as the main voice cast of the movie has finally been confirmed, all of that amidst flooding rumors that Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow,...

Keanu Reeves has long been a fan-favorite hero in Tinseltown, famous for portraying stoic, morally upright characters in critically acclaimed flicks such as John Wick and The Matrix. Nonetheless, much to the surprise of his fans, the Beirut-born actor, 59, has now taken on a new role that differs from his usual heroic persona: that of the anti-hero (Shadow) in the forthcoming Sonic 3 film. Keanu Reeves will play Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter. By voicing Sonic’s black-furred counterpart, the John Wick star joins an already star-studded cast comprised of Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey.
The news follows Paramount showcasing snippets of the upcoming film (due out in theaters December 20th) at a CinemaCon last week. Reportedly, the teaser featured a depressed Dr. Robotnik (Carrey) looking to gain back his spark by creating Shadow, a darker foil of his greatest nemesis, Sonic.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, with multiple sources confirming that Reeves will return to voice acting after playing Batman in "DC League of Super-Pets." The news comes after Paramount Picture's big presentation at CinemaCon last week where they debuted footage from the upcoming "Sonic 3." Our own Ryan Scott was on-site to witness the footage, which included the reveal Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik is now depressed and out of shape, looking just like his nickname — Eggman. Keanu Reeves (John Wick franchise) has been tapped to voice the role of Shadow in Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Deadline can confirm.
Paramount had no comment, but Reeves joins an ensemble led by Ben Schwartz, who plays Sonic. In all three films, James Mardsen plays Sonic’s human ally, Sheriff Tom Wachowski, with Jim Carrey as the mad scientist Dr. Robotnik.
First introduced in the video game Sonic Adventure 2 in 2001, Shadow is a creation of Professor Gerald Robotnik, the grandfather of Sonic’s arch-nemesis, Dr. Robotnik. Possessing extraordinary speed, as well as Chaos Control, a power that allows him to manipulate space and time, he’s initially depicted as an antagonist to Sonic, though in the video games from Sega, he eventually becomes an ally.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Footage Reaction: Shadow The Hedgehog Makes His Grand Entrance [CinemaCon 2024]
The "Sonic the Hedgehog" franchise is one of the best arguments in favor of the whole "IP is king" theory. The video games weren't exactly a pinnacle of narrative craftsmanship, relying more on the charm of the characters and the appeal of the gameplay to become as popular as they did. But the first and second movies, released in 2020 and 2022 respectively, were big hits for Paramount, suggesting the characters and brand recognition were enough to keep audiences engaged. Naturally, then, we'll be getting "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" this year, and we just got our first look at it.

When early Marvel Studios movies planted their seeds that implied a possible crossover of their films, they came off as fun little easter eggs for the hardcore fans at first. Then, when The Avengers came out in 2012 with its game-changing crossover, the film world saw what they were capable of and studios rushed behind them in line to try to get some of that shared universe glory. A producer on the successful Sonic the Hedgehog movies thinks the video game-inspired franchise has the characters and the lore to build what he hopes will be “Avengers-level” event films.

After racing toward the finish line at top speed, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler is wrapping up production on the Blue Blur’s latest adventure! Fowler announced the film’s production wrap via Twitter/X with a new photo from the set. In the image, Fowler holds a giant clapper with drawings of the threequel’s primary animated cast, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. The latest addition to the cast, Shadow, takes the spotlight on the clapper, while Tails and Knuckles give the anti-hero the stink eye. Meanwhile, Sonic appears unbothered by Shadow’s presence, shrugging off the new player’s prominence. If you look past the clapper, you’ll find Fowler wearing a shirt saying “Keep Calm and Jim Carrey On,” a nod to the comedic actor’s franchise return as Dr. Robotnik.

The first trailer for Eli Roth's "Borderlands" has drawn mixed responses from fans of the original video games. Some are unhappy with the casting choices for characters, like comedian Kevin Hart as tough guy Roland and Cate Blanchett as Lilith, a character who was in her 20s in the first "Borderlands" game. And then there are the characters who didn't get cast at all.
Lilith and Roland were two of the four playable characters in Gearbox Software's original chaotic shooter-looter, which allowed up to four players to team up and take on the hostile planet of Pandora in the search for a legendary Vault. Lilith has the advantage of strange powers that allow her to become temporarily invisible, while Roland is highly effective with heavy guns and has an automatic turret for backup.
