D: Sean Tretta
C: Patti Tindall, Scott Anthony Leet, Tiffany Shepis, Louis Mandylor, Ed Lauter, Noah Todd, Joe Ricci, Sebastian Kunnappilly, Zena Otsuka, Jonathan Northover, David C. Hayes, Richard Anderson, Kevin Tye, Michael Tassoni
Group of scientists discover a method of reanimating the dead through stem cell research that results in a gunshot victim being brought back to life, but things go awry as he takes on violent tendencies.
Muddled, though intriguing film introduces Tiffany Shepis as the narrator and lead character of the film. However, her character isn't as instrumental to the story as some of the other characters and she ends up fading into the background for most of the second half. Still, she turns in one of the best performances of her career, to date. The story charts into standard stalk and slash in the last act. And the overall story doesn't feel complete.

*a screener of this film was provided by Mti Home Video.
Director: Sean Tretta.
Writers: Mary Shelley and Sean Tretta.
The tale of Prometheus is one of epic Greek proportions. Consisting of three dramas, one about the Titan's heroic refusal to submit to Zeus' rule, the other of Zeus' realization to develop maturity and the last, perhaps lost to time, probably about his reconciliation with the rebel god Prometheus. The poet Hesiod was the first to develop this myth and portions of it can be found in Mary Shelley's seminal ghost story, Frankenstein.
In her tale, she reveals how Dr. Frankenstein is playing with fire. He is playing god by giving life to where it ceased to exist, and that ultimately destroys him. The monster he creates is a dodgy figure but by that story’s end, it reveals itself to a god-fearing sailor and demonstrates remorse when the rugged doctor finally dies.

One of the best tests of a story's merit is its ability to be adapted. If it's truly good, it can span eras and be repeatedly refashioned into something more, something relevant for a new age. By this measure, Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus is surely one of the great tales.
Through the years, Shelley's book has served as the foundation for countless entertainments, both high and low. Director Sean Tretta's new film, The Frankenstein Syndrome, distinguishes itself from the pack of Frankenflicks because it manages to be a rather serious examination of ethics as well as a brutal horror show.
Tretta has taken the Gothic source material, mixed in a little of Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator (itself a riff on the Frankenstein mythos) and...

The Prometheus Project will show at the Oklahoma Horror Film Festival this year beginning September 3rd. This very horrifying feature re-envisions Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" for a modern day audience (Ohff). In the film stem cell research leads to an uncontrollable monster who turns against his masters. The film festival has also announced the attachment of Alex Lugones' The Devil's Toy, Gregg Holtgrewe's Dawning, with an early, unannounced word that Marion Kerr's Golden Earrings might also be in attendance. Have a look at what this specialized film festival has to offer horror fans in a clip for The Prometheus Project below.

Character teaser poster number seven showed up in the old inbox today, making this cool set one shy of being complete.
The Stockton family formed the Church of Devout Ascension under severe drought and hardship in the late 1800’s, and it continues to this day, rejuvenated by the prosperity caused by the “Miracle at Skull City”. But not everyone in the flock is willing to make the sacrifices Reverend Stockton demands. That’s where Deacon Luke comes in: Comply and all is well. Resist and die a horrible death.
D. Randall Blythe (Screamer, Lamb of God) is pure, unbridled rage as Reverend Stockton’s “enforcer”.
The Graves also stars Clare Grant ("Masters of Horror"), Jillian Murray ("The Fun Park"), Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Shane Stevens, Patti Tindall (Death of a Ghost Hunter), Barbara Glover (Red Rock West), and Tony Todd ("24", Candyman).

Teaser poster number six surfaced today for Brian Pulido's The Graves, and just like the others that came before it, we have a look at it for ya!
Every town needs a handyman, and Caleb (“Cookie” to his friends) is Unity’s finest. There’s nothing he can’t fix with his trusted toolbox. But Caleb leads a secret life as the serial killer “Pig Man” that even the Unity townspeople don’t know about. Is Megan or Abby Graves the mate he’s been searching for or are they just the latest “runts”?
Bill Moseley, the Marlon Brando of the horror genre, is absolutely mind-melting as a cold-hearted, blue-eyed killer who takes sheer pleasure in his job.

The fifth of eight teasers for Brian Pulido's The Graves emerged today, this time introducing us to one bad mother...
When you head into Skull City Mine’s ticket shack, you can’t miss the ever-friendly Helen Heinbacker, or “Mama” as the folks around Unity call her. It’s a peculiar moniker for a woman who has no family and professes to hate children. Don’t let her rotted smile fool you; she’s a killer.
Barbara Glower brings danger - and a bit of levity - to Skull City’s knitting-needle wielding “greeter”.
The Graves also stars Clare Grant ("Masters of Horror"), Jillian Murray ("The Fun Park"), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre II), Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm St., "Dexter"), D. Randall Blythe (Screamer, Lamb of God), Shane Stevens, Patti Tindall (Death of a Ghost Hunter), Barbara Glover (Red Rock West), Calabrese and Tony Todd...

The fourth teaser poster for Brian Pulido's The Graves emerged today, this time showcasing a character with a penchant for some monstrous demonstrations.
If ya head on up to Skull City Mine, be sure to visit the blacksmith, Jonah Lee Atwood. He gives a demonstration every hour on the hour. Then again, Jonah is a murderer, responsible for hundreds of deaths.
Shane Stevens delivers a nuanced performance as an unyielding killer who fulfills a solemn obligation, even while he hates himself for doing it. What would possess a man to do the unthinkable?
