Halloween is spine-chilling in general, but especially so if you’re a parent.
The amount of calories you consume while stealing your children’s hard-won candy? Gasp. Running out of sweets when there’s a minibus worth of spooky kids at your front door? Whimper. The price of Halloween costumes they’ll grow out of by Christmas? Scream.
You’d be better off extinguishing the pumpkin, barricading the door and curling up with one of these family-friendly Halloween movies instead – from animated delights to cult classics – which all fall under the ooky-spooky rather than blood-and-guts end of the scale.

BFI Distribution revealed the UK trailer for ‘Enys Men.’ Written, directed and photographed by Mark Jenkin, and following his 2019 BAFTA-winning first feature ‘Bait.’
The mind-bending Cornish folk horror set in 1973 unfolds on an uninhabited island off the Celtic Sea. A wildlife volunteer’s daily observations of a rare flower take a dark turn into the strange and metaphysical, forcing both her and viewers to question what is real and what is a nightmare.
Shot by Jenkin on grainy 16mm colour film stock and with his trademark post-synched sound, the form feels both innovative and authentic to the period. Filmed on location around the disused tin mines of West Penwith, it is also an ode to Cornwall’s rich folklore and natural beauty.
Mary Woodvine (Poldark, Judge John Deed, Doc Martin), who played Sandra in ‘Bait’, is The Volunteer. She reunites with ‘Bait’ co-star Edward Rowe (The Witcher, House of the Dragon) who is The Boatman.

The long road to the screen for Emily in Paris is almost over.
Netflix on Wednesday dropped a new trailer for the series, and it gave us our first glimpse at Emily's work life, as well as her relationships.
What is evident from the clip is that Emily is highly opinionated and is not afraid to speak her mind, which seeming rubs her co-workers the wrong way.
Whether she will be able to make it work in Paris is up for debate, especially when she is branded dramatic.
Emily also seems to be in a complicated relationship with her hot neighbor, and we're not complaining.
