The BloodList, an annual ranking of the best unproduced horror and genre screenplays, has published the 13th edition of its “Fresh Blood” series just in time for Halloween.
The reveal was made on Friday by Village Roadshow Pictures and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, who earlier this year announced a first-look partnership to mine the list for feature films. BloodList was created by Kailey Marsh, who is a literary manager and producer at Brillstein.
The two projects that Village Roadshow has selected for development are “On the First Day of Christmas” by Casey Giltner and “Zero Feet Away” by Jose Nateras. Kirsten Dunst and pint-sized "Kick Ass" actress Chloe Moretz are teaming for the coming-of-age drama "Hick" for Taylor Lane Productions & Lighthouse Entertainment reports The Playlist.
Based on Andrea Portes' novel which the author herself adapted for the big screen, the story follows a 13-year-old Nebraska girl who flees her alcoholic and abusive parents and heads out on the road.
The world outside her door proves just as cold and uncaring, including the adult figures that come into her life like a crooked guy who eventually rapes her, a role that Colin Farrell was circling but ultimately couldn't participate in due to his "Total Recall" remake commitments.
Dunst will play another of those figures, a cocaine-snorting hard-living grifter who takes the girl under her wing in an effort to shield her from some of the rougher aspects of life.

Kirsten Dunst is set to team up with Chloe Moretz in "Hick", a movie adaptation of Andrea Portes' coming of age book with the same title. The former "Spider-Man" beauty is attached to portray Glenda, who is described as a cocaine-snorting grifter in the novel, Playlist reports based on info from Taylor Lane Productions owner and founder Christian Taylor.
The story itself will revolve around Moretz's character of a 13-year-old Nebraska girl named Luli who runs away to Las Vegas. Dunst's Glenda will take Luli off the road under her wings. The two cross paths with Eddie, who previously picked Luli up briefly before throwing her out of the car.
Colin Farrell was rumored to take the lead male role in "Hick", but he reportedly had to pass it due to a scheduling conflict since he is set to star in "Total Recall" remake, which has a 2011 spring start date.

Fans of the little seen Lymelife - Derick Martini's directorial debut might be happy to know that the filmmaker is getting set for a New Mexico shoot and will be tackling the coming-of-age format once again, but perhaps with a tone that is far more darker, with Hick. Variety reports that he'll be working with one of the most in demand young actresses in the biz right now in Chloe Moretz, who with this role (apparently a mix between Paper Moon and Taxi Driver), would be breaking out of cutesy offers she must be getting by the ton. The project is based on Andrea Portes' novel which she put into screenplay format for Christian Taylor's Taylor Lane Prods. and Steven Siebert's Lighthouse Entertainment. The price tag for the indie project is around the 6 million dollar mark and looks to contain some road movie elements, drug use and crime.
