1978 to 1982 Braith Elementary School Biberach, 1983 to 1991 Pestalozzi High School Biberach. 1991 to 1993 training as an editor at Radio 7. 1994 to 2002 studied political science, history and economics at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Magister Artium.
1993 to 2002 freelance journalist for the Schwäbische Zeitung, Radio 7 and ZDF, among others. 1999 to 2001 worked for the Democratic National Committee in Washington and "Hillary Clinton for Senate" in New York. State parliament election campaign for Ute Vogt, SPD in Baden-Württemberg, 2002 to 2005 parliamentary advisor in the state parliament.

Joined the SPD in 1990, chairman of the Biberach district association since 2001.
