London-based singer, rapper, producer, and DJ Shygirl has returned to announce a new EP titled Club Shy, out February 9th. She’s also shared a new single, “tell me,” featuring the German electronic producer Boys Noize. Stream it below.
Described in a press release as “an extension of Shygirl’s eponymous club experience,” Club Shy is named after Shygirl’s various club events held in London, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Brazil over the last two years. Rather than leaning solely on her skills as a rapper, the EP finds Shygirl embracing her love of electronic and club-focused sounds and her curatorial ear. Shygirl produced the album alongside collaborators Sg Lewis, Boys Noize, Kingdom, Empress Of, Lolo Zouaï, and Cosha.

Rapper Drake encouraged Nelly Furtado’s musical comeback. Nelly, 44, revealed that fellow Canadian Drake, 36, – who invited her to be a surprise guest for his All-Canadian North Stars event in Toronto last summer – reminded her about her legacy and value to the music industry and urged her to get back in the studio to work on new music.
She told Variety: “I have more gratitude nowadays, so I know how blessed I am to be a performer and creator. I’m really leaning into my profession. I met Drake a year ago and we had some deep conversations about life and art and he blew up my head reminding me what a valuable artist I am and told me to ‘boss up’ and make new music, and I listened. So, I couldn’t say no when he invited me on stage, I had to be brave and boss up and start the next chapter.

Channel Tres has released his sixth EP, Real Cultural Shit, via Godmode and RCA Records. Stream it below on Apple Music or Spotify.
A continuation of Channel’s efforts to blend Chicago house, Detroit techno, and West Coast rap into a single genre dubbed “Compton house,” Real Cultural Shit marks the start of a new phase in the 31-year-old artist’s career. After years of building up a niche reputation with a wide range of fans — from dance DJ circles to Sir Elton John — he’s finally taking his sound to the mainstream, and the five tracks lining the new EP demonstrate just how much pop potential his signature style has.
But make no mistake: Channel’s ascension into pop stardom doesn’t mean he’ll compromise his artistry to please the masses. If anything, the innovative sound and irresistible groove of Real Cultural Shit demonstrate that the Los Angeles...

Sg Lewis has had a lot to celebrate. As he sits down for coffee at the Hoxton hotel in Brooklyn, he’s still reeling from performing at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the night before for the first time.
“Those things are always over in flash,” he says, noting that he’s still a bit “sore” from celebrating after the performance with his band. “There’s a surrealism where you see something so many times on TV and in popular culture and then you’re in it.”

Tove Lo has always been a little dirty. Her brand of pop music — sharp and catchy — comes with a touch of darkness and grime to it. She made her debut with “Habits (Stay High),” a hangover of a single about willingly succumbing to all your vices to get over your heartbreak.
Dirt Femme, Tove Lo’s first release as an independent artist, is a tribute to all the things that define her own femininity. The album, a continuation of the alt-pop sound she’s been so good at for years now,...

“I’m an attention wh***,” repeats Tove Lo in a robotic monotone on her fifth album, Dirt Femme. Bang on brand for the 34-year-old Swede born Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson, whose sad, confessional bangers once saw her hailed as “the world’s most brutally honest pop star”. So the narratives are dependably punchy through this record, and they’re carried by solidly danceable Eighties and Nineties club beats. Not an original sound, then. But one that allows her more challenging or subversive thoughts to slide slyly into a night out on the town.
Thematically, Lo is always trying to square her bold, feminist, exhibitionist streak (which saw her bare her breasts on stage at Glastonbury) with the anxiety and self-doubt that left her struggling with an eating disorder for five years. Commanding songs such as “Attention Wh***” (on which she demands “keep your eyes on me” while California rapper Channel...

Aluna (of AlunaGeorge) has released the video for “Envious,” the fourth single from her upcoming debut solo album Renaissance.
Directed by Hamadou Frederic Balde, the video shows Aluna and a group of dancers taking over a desert brush setting at sunset, with animated effects sprinkled throughout.
“I think people really need this song right now because I believe it’s my best ‘cry dance’ song; a style I coined to describe that exquisite feeling when all your emotions are released while dancing so you cry at the same time,” Aluna said in a statement.
