Thurston Moore and Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan have teamed up for a new cover of Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love.” Watch the performance below.
For the latest entry in Fender’s “Best of the Decades” ad series, the artists deliver a guitar-led version of the 1973 track, with Jordan’s chorused Vintera II ‘60s Stratocaster carrying the progression, and Moore’s Vintera II ‘70s Jaguar providing colorful accents over the top. Both clad in Reed-esque sunglasses, Jordan sings the majority of the tune, with Moore helping out for the “Harry, Mark, and John” lines.
For her part, Jordan keeps her performance rooted in the raw coolness of Reed’s usual vocal delivery, mostly hanging out around the bottom of her range. By the song’s outro (where Reed’s original presents a soundscape of backing vocals from David Bowie), Jordan opens up and lets out a few soaring melodic lines,...

Our feature series Origins provides artists with a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Madison Cunningham takes us through her new single, “Subtitles.”
Folk singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham has shared her new single, “Subtitles.” The song marks a change in direction for the artist, and follows the release of a deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning album Revealer.
Featuring a driving guitar and a staccato bassline propelling the song forward, the song was given the title of “dino-rock” by the singer herself. Drawing inspiration from ’80s new wave, Cunningham directly referred to Xtc as a major inspiration for the song’s melody, inspiring her to sweeten up the track and “pack this song with candy.”
Drawing together feelings and thoughts of dystopia and cluelessness, Cunningham conjures all of this together and more for this undeniable new track.

Self-described as a funky disco love song, Hozier has shared “De Selby (Part 2)” – the final sneak peek of his forthcoming album Unreal Unearth ahead of release on August 18. Sharing its name with a character from Irish literary classic The Third Policeman, “De Selby (Parts 1 & 2)” open the album. This immersive two-song suite dips into a Gaelic passage only to melt into a bass-driven groove on the second half.
In speaking about the release, Hozier says: “This song reflects on darkness and night falling. It aligned with the thinking of the character of De Selby. When you can’t see where your hands and the darkness end, they literally become one and the same. Part 2 is something of a descent. We are lost together in this moment with no beginning and no end. The track explores this theme over a disco track, hope you enjoy!”

The world and music of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel “Daisy Jones & The Six,” including album “Aurora,” has come to life. Fronted by band members Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), “Daisy Jones & The Six” is now a TV series on Amazon Prime Video, but bringing the show to life meant that the songs that make the titular group a hit needed to actually be written.
Yes, that’s Claflin and Keough really singing in the show, but each song on the album “Aurora” has a stacked list of well-known songwriters.
All the songs in “Daisy Jones & The Six” were either written or co-written by Blake Mills, who also produced the album.
Co-writers include Marcus Mumford, Chris Weisman, Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne, Z Berg, Jason Boesel, Matt Sweeney, Cass McCombs, Ali Tamposi, James Valentine, Barbara Gruska, Ethan Gruska, Stephony Smith, Jonathan Rice, Joe Keefe,...

“Aurora,” the once fictional album imagined by Taylor Jenkins Reid in her best-selling novel “Daisy Jones & the Six” has come to life with 11 of the 25 original songs written for Prime Video’s TV show adaptation. Blake Mills and Tony Berg reimagined songs Reid listed in the back of her book for “Aurora,” enlisting collaborators like Marcus Mumford, Phoebe Bridgers and more to write and record the album.
But in addition to the original Daisy Jones & the Six songs, classic 70s rock and roll hits like Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move” and The Byrds’ “Goin’ Back” set the scene for the collision of Daisy Jones and rock band The Six, who rocket to fame together, echoing the dynamic of Fleetwood Mac, Civil Wars and The Eagles to name a few.

In 1978, the Kinks sang: “He just spends his life, living in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy; He just spends his life, living on the edge of reality.” This mid-1970s sentiment of California dreamin’ foregrounds a young woman with that same impossible, crazy and ultimately disenchanting dream — singer, songwriter, flame-haired trainwreck Daisy Jones played by the perfectly cast firecracker Riley Keough, Elvis’ granddaughter, in Amazon Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & the Six.”
It’s part the familiar saga of the rise and splatter of a band like “Fleetwood Mac,” circa the album “Rumours:” the drugs, the demons and the outsized desires of its members. And then, driven by a spectacular performance by Keough, it’s about the power of finding one’s voice and hoping the journey liberates rather than destroys the seeker.

In an upcoming series from Prime Video, a world-renowned band has a tumultuous time recording their most-famous record and is slowly torn apart by drama, trauma, jealousy, and drug use. Surprisingly, this isn't the premise for a "Fleetwood Mac" biopic — it's an adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel, "Daisy Jones and the Six." Like the book, the series will tell the tale of a '70s band whose breakup makes them legends.
But it isn't all dashed dreams and broken hearts. Before the fall, there was a meteoric rise to fame. Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) and Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) are two superstars in the making. Long before they've met, the separate artists are oozing talent. But sometimes it takes a little more than that to claim success and it isn't until they cross paths that stardom truly awaits. Prime Video has shared the trailer for its adaptation of BookTok favorite Daisy Jones & the Six starring Riley Keough as the eponymous character alongside Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse. Watch it ahead of the March 3rd premiere below.

Decades after calling it quits, each bandmate sits down for an interview about their side of the story. As one could guess, the story is heavily inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours era.

While the members of this legendary band were once confined to the pages of the bestselling Taylor Jenkins Reid novel of the same name, they're about to take on new life thanks to the highly anticipated Prime Video adaptation. The series chronicles the origins of the renowned rock band fronted by Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), as they achieve stardom, success, and critical acclaim before unexpectedly breaking up. Told via interviews with the band many years later, the series will tell us exactly what caused them to implode.
While the world waits for someone to finally dramatize Fleetwood Mac and the tumultuous recording of "Rumors," Daisy Jones and crew will have to do. But no worries: Love, sex, drugs, and rock n' roll will all be main characters in this messy tale. Watching the band rise from...

Miranda Lambert picked up the most nominations when the Recording Academy announced the country music Grammy nominees on Tuesday. Lambert, a perennial contender, found herself nominated in all four of the country categories, the only performer to do so for the 2023 Awards.
Lambert’s 2022 album Palomino clearly resonated with Grammy voters. In addition to earning a Best Country Album nomination, the collection spawned tracks that earned two other nominations: “If I Was a Cowboy” and “In His Arms” for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, respectively. LeVar Burton will host the Grammys’ “premiere ceremony,” the pre-telecast afternoon event during which the vast majority of winners will be announced April 3.
The Grammys-before-the-Grammys will get underway at the the MGM Grand Conference Marquee Ballroom in Las Vegas at 12:30 p.m. Pt/3:30 Et. The early unveiling of winners be available for streaming on the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel as well as at live.grammy.com.
With fewer than 20 categories typically being announced on the air during the prime-time CBS telecast, that means more than three-quarters of the night’s 86 winners will likely be announced during the afternoon event.
A number of performances will be sprinkled into the premiere ceremony, as is customary, with country star and best new artist nominee Jimmie Allen and thrice-nominated Americana artist Allison Russell among those set to lend a tune in the ballroom. Fellow nominees Ledisi, Mon Laferte and Curtis Stewart will perform as well.

The joy of playing the guitar radiates from Really Good Rejects, Alice Gu’s SXSW documentary about Reuben Cox. Cox is a modern-day “luthier” – he makes stringed instruments, and his custom guitars grace stages all over the world. Artists clearly have a passion for his work: those lining up to praise him include Jackson Browne, Carrie Brownstein, Aaron Dessner of The National, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Madison Cunningham, and Andrew Bird.
The film opens with a barrage of platitudes before introducing us to the man himself and settling into a calmer groove. Cox is a pleasant photographer who started making guitars out of reclaimed wood, from everything from an old cabin to a side table in his home – the latter to the chagrin of his wife, Miwa Okumura, who jokes about it in an interview here.
Dessner was one of the first to try the instruments out, and...

Molly Tuttle’s covers EP …but i’d rather be with you, too was a quiet surprise upon its release earlier this month, with the bluegrass singer, songwriter and guitarist interpreting songs like “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” with guests like Nathaniel Rateliff. On Thursday, Tuttle released a live performance video of her rendition of Sheryl Crow’s “Strong Enough” with Americana songwriter Madison Cunningham.
Filmed in the Santa Monica mountains, the video begins with Tuttle perched in a tree, playing the signature opening to Crow’s 1993 ballad off her debut LP,...
