- One of the reasons Anderson decided to attend Missouri was so that he could compete as a high jumper on the track and field team. As a student, Anderson worked at KOMU-TV, but any work on the sports desk was voluntary. After graduating, he spent time in Tulsa, Oklahoma, working for KTUL-TV and KOTV-TV, and he also worked in Phoenix at KPHO-TV before joining ESPN.

- On November 3, 2013, Anderson made his debut as co-host of ESPN's presentation of the 2013 ING New York City Marathon. He paired with fellow SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm as hosts of the five-hour race telecast aired nationally on ESPN2 and in New York City on ABC7.
- Anderson chose a profession that causes him to work the same hours as Dracula. During this time of the year, he goes to work at 5:30 p.m. and gets home around 3 a.m. He said he is a night person, perhaps because his body has become attuned to his career.
- From 2008 to 2014, he and John Henson hosted Wipeout, a reality game show on ABC.
