The tag-line on the cover of the blu-ray for the latest Roger Corman produce SyFy Chanel sanctioned crap-fest Dinoshark, states: “Fear What’s Just Below the Surface”. This could be clever if something actually were below the surface, and I don’t just mean the physical ground/water that is obviously being reference here. No, I speak of the surface of the film itself which, as it is, is barely stable let alone in any position to claim that there is anything under it. In other words, Dinoshark is filled with false promises. I mean, the title alone implies a creature of epic proportions of which a modest SyFy Chanel budget clearly cannot achieve. But that ends up being the least of the film’s problems.
To even attempt to describe this films plot seems futile as it does not really exist. The title basically says it all in one word.

Recently (very recently!), I reviewed The Devil’s Tomb. I didn’t like it. My main criticism was that it took its stupid concept seriously, without humour or irony and I concluded that it wasn’t even worthy of being deemed ‘so bad, it’s good’. I watched The Devil’s Tomb immediately before I watched Dinoshark – now this is how to do a bad film well. Dinoshark is an unaccountably terrible film. But it knows this and is utterly hilarious.
The film begins with a chunk dropping off an ice shelf, from which several tadpole-like things emerge. Cut to three years later and behold! The Dinoshark! (Which, if you hadn’t guessed, is essentially a big shark with a tyrannosaurus Rex’s head.) The abominable being swims to Mexico to...

After being thawed out by the raising temperatures and the thinning of the ozone layer, a prehistoric dinoshark roams the ocean looking for its next meal after not having to eat anything for about 150 million years.
Another watchable, if disappointing, entry in producer Roger Corman's latest series of creature feature films following the success of Sharktopus. Dinoshark could have played up to the environmental angel of the film's story more strongly. There could have been more campy and outrageous situations for the characters to engage themselves in. The Dinoshark could have been engaged in more innovative action. The film could have played more strongly to the "don't go in the water" element of the material like Jaws and Piranha did. Why does it feel like this review should be written in capital letters? Perhaps this is just the influence of the DVD tagline, which screams at high volume: Frozen For 150 Million Years… Now He’S Hungry! Following closely on the heels/fins/tentacles of recent schlock cult hit “Sharktopus” is “Dinoshark”, which basically sees legendary B-movie mogul Roger Corman serving up more of the same, with yet another beach resort being terrorised by an unlikely though hungry aquatic fiend. The film certainly has a suitable helmer in Kevin O’Neill, a man who previously swam similar waters with “Dinocroc”, as well as working on visual effects for the likes of the “Piranha” remake and the “Feast” series. Somewhat unusually for this kind of direct to DVD, made for cable foolishness, the film actually has a pretty decent cast, with a handful of semi-recognisable faces, including headline stars Eric Balfour (“Skyline...

Syfy and Korean monsters, machine-gun-toting Japanese schoolgirls, and some re-releases are the topics of this week's horror titles.
While Dinoshark (directed by Kevin O'Neill and starring Eric Balfour, Iva Hasperger, Aaron Diaz, Humberto Busto, Roger Corman) and Mongolian Death Worm (directed by Steven R. Monroe and starring Sean Patrick Flanery, Victoria Pratt) were on cable TV only recently, they're already here on home video. On top of that Chawz, the "Jaws with a wild boar" offering from Korea, and the hilariously unbelievable Machine Girl are vying for your purse strings all way from the Far East.
For the classically inclined, re-releases of Roger Corman's The Terror with a young Jack Nicholson, The Dorm That Dripped Blood, El Topo, as well as Francis Ford Coppola's Dementia 13 will keep you company this week.

Dinoshark is the latest creature feature to be unleashed on DVD and Blu-ray via Anchor Bay. The Roger Corman and Linda Corman produced Syfy hit puts on a good show for any fan of this type of film.
Eric Balour plays our hero Trace McGraw (no relation to Tim) in the movie and pulls off a good ob since I’ve seen him on both sides of the acting fence, good guy and bad guy. His acting is just a little dry but is still believable. He is partnered up with the good looking Carol played by Iva Hasperger who obviously is “the brains” of the operation to capture the loose creature Dinoshark. They end up fighting more with the local police than the big fish itself but end the end they get it on with Dinoshark but I’m not telling you who wins, it’s a bloody mess!

With the DVD and Blu-ray release date of next Tuesday, April 26th, for Anchor Bay Entertainment's Dinoshark rapidly approaching, we got our teeth into a new clip, this one focusing on the water polo attack that takes place in the film.
For millennia, it slept inside a frozen glacier: waiting to be set free. But with an unexpected shift of climate, the glacier cracked, and what was once extinct was reborn to unleash terror in a brave new world. On April 26, 2011, Anchor Bay Entertainment releases the hit Syfy Channel original movie Dinoshark on Blu-ray™ and DVD. Produced by the legendary Roger Corman and Julie Corman, Dinoshark bites with an Srp of $24.99 for the Blu-ray™ and $19.98 for the DVD.
Born in Antarctica, Dinoshark noses his way down the warmer currents to Mexico, towards a popular vacation spot crowded with party-goers unwittingly ready to fall prey to a prehistoric eating machine.

Check out the "Water polo attack" clip from the SyFy hit Dinoshark, which will be available on DVD & Blu-ray next Tuesday, April 26th from Anchor Bay Entertainment.
Dinoshark was produced by the legendary Roger Corman and Julie Corman.
Plot:
Born in Antarctica, Dinoshark noses his way down the warmer currents to Mexico, towards a popular vacation spot crowded with party-goers unwittingly ready to fall prey to a prehistoric eating machine. When the killings begin, it becomes clear that no normal animal can be responsible for such savagery.
Local captain Trace McGraw (Eric Balfour -- "24", The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Skyline) and marine biologist Carol (Iva Hasperger -- "CSI", "Cold Case") seem to be the only ones convinced that the creature terrorizing their shores is something other than the expected man-eating shark. They enlist the help of the world's only expert on the Dinoshark (Roger Corman himself). Together, will they be able to reel Dinoshark in?...

Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte ... just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in 12 minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Dino. 100-footer.
