Joy Behar doesn’t usually get flustered easily, but she was left hot under the collar on Wednesday’s (May 8) episode of The View when her co-hosts told her to read some sexy excerpts from Sunny Hostin‘s new novel. Promoting her new book Summer on Highland Beach, Hostin asked Behar to read some of the more steamier passages from the novel. Taking the book from Hostin, Behar did her best Dr. Ruth impression and read the first excerpt. “Desire hit her hard and fast. She was burning up, sparked by fire, lit by joy — really? — he’d forgotten how delicious spearmint tasted on her lips,” she read. The long-time comedian and TV personality managed to get through the first passage relatively unscathed. But the heat turned up a notch when Alyssa Farah Griffin urged her to “read the naughtier one.” “Oh, it’s so bad. You really want me to read that?...

Comedian and long-time television personality Joy Behar has been opening up about her family history and how it shaped her personality and on-screen persona. The View co-host appeared on the show’s spinoff podcast, Behind The Table, where she spoke to executive producer Brian Teta about her long career and ability to get away with saying things most cannot. “You’re famously blunt,” Teta told the Daytime Emmy Award winner, per Closer. Behar, however, had a different perspective, quipping, “I would say tactless better than blunt.” She revealed she learned to be that way from her Aunt Rose, explaining, “As my aunt would say, ‘I tell the truth no matter who I may offend’… But no, I do have my limits on what I will say to people. I keep my mouth shut when I have to. It’s amazing how much I get away with. Why is that?” Teta...

It’s been a buzzy couple of days for Barbra Streisand amid her since-deleted Instagram comment asking Melissa McCarthy if she was on Ozempic. While some have raised eyebrows, The View‘s Joy Behar has come to the Broadway star’s defense. For those who aren’t caught up: on April 29, McCarthy posted a photo on Instagram of herself attending the Center Theatre Group gala with Hairspray director Adam Shankman. Her more observant followers noticed one comment amid the thousands that stood out in particular: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” posted by none other than the 82-year-old Egot winner Streisand. The seemingly out-of-pocket comment has sparked leagues of discourse all over the internet, amidst fans, haters, and fellow celebrities. In a discussion on the matter during The View, cohost Behar spoke her mind, uniquely coming to Streisand’s defense. “As far as asking someone that question, I...

Bachelor Nation was rocked on Friday when Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce after just three months of marriage. But not everyone was shocked by this sudden turn of events.
During a View segment about the divorce, Ana Navarro was practically giddy, telling her co-hosts, “For six months, you tortured me every Friday and made me talk about this topic, which I can’t stand because I think it’s manufactured and a complete crock. The View’s Tuesday broadcast was one co-host short of a full panel.
At the top of the hour, just Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin sat at the show’s Hot Topics table, with Sara Haines clearly M.I.A. (She did, however, appear on Monday’s installment.) So why was Haines absent from the show? Goldberg answered that question at the top of the second segment.

Joy Behar is not a fan of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene,” even though it’s the original. She much rather prefers Beyoncé’s version for its power and anger.
You see, while Dolly’s version begged this beautiful and seductive Jolene to not take her man, Beyoncé’s version warned that there’ll be consequences should she even make moves to take her man. For this reason, Behar believes that one of these two songs is “anti-feminist.”

Update, with video: The View‘s Hot Topics took on a whole new meaning today when the co-hosts weighed in on the recent controversy over the claim of a TikTok user who insists that Saturday Night Live “has never hired a hot woman” as a cast member.
Introducing the discussion with an eye roll and a dismissive wave of her hand, Whoopi Goldberg otherwise refused to engage in the debate, tossing the discussion to co-host and stand-up comedian Joy Behar.
“First of all, it’s a comedy show not a beauty pageant,” Behar said. “It’s not for men to ogle women who are trying to get a laugh.”

Joy Behar said she once auditioned for Saturday Night Live, but it didn’t necessarily go as planned.
The comedian and co-host of ABC’s The View shared on the daytime talk show’s companion podcast The View: Behind the Table Wednesday that she auditioned for the sketch comedy show’s cast in 1975.

The View co-host Joy Behar once auditioned for Saturday Night Live. It did not go well.
The 81-year-old recalled the 1975 moment Wednesday on The View’s companion podcast, Behind the Table.
“There was a period I tried to get on, because I had this funny character that I did. I had to audition for [SNL creator-producer] Lorne Michaels,” Behar told View producer Brian Teta. “He never laughed, and after I was done, he said, ‘That was funny.’ I said, ‘You didn’t laugh,’ and he said, ‘I don’t want to laugh because then you’ll think you have a job.’ I said, ‘That’s okay, don’t worry about it.’ I didn’t even want the job, to tell you the truth.”
Michaels is famous for purposely not laughing during SNL auditions. Behar admitted it was still “a little depressing to have to audition for somebody and they don’t laugh.

Update, with video: The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg abruptly stopped the panel’s Hot Topics discussion today to scold an audience member apparently recording the proceedings with a cellphone.
Getting up from her seat and walking to the side of the stage area, Goldberg sternly said, “Hold on a second. Sir, I have to stop you with the camera because I can see you. Do me a favor: Don’t pull it out again. I’d appreciate that. Thank you.”

The other co-hosts – Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin – sat stone-faced and surprised during the interruption, which came during a discussion of Donald Trump’s latest legal problems. “What was he doing?” Behar asked quietly, with Haines responding, “Recording.”

It looks like the new showrunner and writers at Hallmark’s Wcth will now go to any lengths to win back Team Nathan to the series. How far will they go to bring back this group of disgruntled Hearties? It seemed that pushing the engaged Elizabeth and the forlorn Mountie together during Season 10 was not enough. Concern about the fact that Donald Trump must post a $450 million-plus bond by Monday — and where he might get that money — prompted a curious debate with the ex-president’s lawyer on Fox News on Wednesday.

Update, with full video: Former CNN anchor and now ex-x talk host Don Lemon released yet another segment of his sit-down interview with X owner Elon Musk today, with the clip showing Lemon pressing Musk about the latter’s claim that the airline industry has lower standards for female and minority pilots than for white male pilots.
Appearing on ABC’s The View today to tout his upcoming, now-YouTube series The Don Lemon Show, Lemon brought along the new interview clip that features a persistent Lemon questioning a seemingly flustered Musk about the pilot issue.
See a portion of The View segment below.
Lemon points out that, after a door-sized panel blew off of an Alaska Airlines/Boeing jet mid-flight, the female pilot landed the plane safely and without further incident.
Musk has repeatedly tweeted and amplified others’ tweets that “Dei” – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – is being prioritized by the airline industry over safety.

81-year-old Joy Behar said Wednesday on the talk show’s Behind the Table podcast that she rejected the opportunity to play Ted Lasso’s mom in season 3.
By doing so, she gave up a role that scored actress Becky Ann Baker an Emmy nomination.
“You were contacted about the possibility to be on my favorite show of all time,” View producer Brian Teta said on the podcast. “You were dismissive of it because it would require you to spend your hiatus in London,” Teta added.
Behar blamed the unseasonable weather in the UK.

Meghan McCain spoke out once again about the long-running daytime talk show, The View on the podcast, You’re Welcome, hosted by Michael Malice.
Malice, a Ukrainian author and anarchist, uses the podcast to “bring his unique perspective – and plenty of sick burns – as he discusses everything from… politics to culture,” according to the Spotify description.
McCain, a journalist, and daughter of John McCain, was a cohost on The View from 2017-2021.
She left after she had an on-air clash with cohost Joy Behar, which stemmed from Behar’s comments about not missing McCain while she was on maternity leave. He had been removed from Fuller House in February 2018 amid complaints about his behavior, but he claimed Behar fabricated and twisted information and gave it to the media and Warner Bros. to get him thrown off the show.
Behar responded with an anti-slapp motion, which are intended to bring an early end to frivolous claims arising from protected activity like free speech. If a defendant prevails, typically they are awarded attorney’s fees and the plaintiff has an automatic right to an appeal. The showrunner argued that Warners approached him, not the other way around, and his comments about...

Joy Behar will be out of The View for the remainder of the week as she has been diagnosed with Covid.
Whoopi Goldberg announced that Behar would not be appearing at the “Hot Topics” table at the top of the show’s broadcast.
“Joy is out this week,” Goldberg said before turning to the audience and asking, “You know why?”
“She finally got Covid,” the show’s moderator said. “Three years… four years in… it finally got her.”
Sara Haines chimed in jokingly saying, “She can stop bragging now.”
“About her special blood type and all of that,” Sunny Hostin added about the reasons Behar said why she had never caught the virus.
In Behar’s absence, Community alum Yvette Nicole Brown took her place on the show. Brown has been a frequent guest co-host on the ABC daytime talk show over the years.

The women of “The View” may love the concept of “The Golden Bachelor,” and even the man himself after he appeared on the show earlier this year. But they definitely don’t love how much he’s cried on the show. On Friday, Joy Behar even compared him to former House speaker John Boehner.
Indeed, Gerry Turner has shed quite a few tears on show, often around the time he sends another woman home. And, for Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, it’s a bit melodramatic.
“He cries a lot, this guy. It’s like, it’s just a TV show, nobody died,” Behar mocked. “He’s always crying! He’s like in John Boehner territory.”
Of course, Behar mispronounced Boehner’s last name, saying it as it looks phonetically, and her co-hosts immediately pounced on her for it. But she shrugged it off, saying she and Boehner “go back,...

Joy Behar doesn’t necessarily believe people who say they love both Donald Trump and Jesus. In fact, on Thursday morning’s episode of “The View,” the ABC host argued that “that’s an oxymoron right there.”
Behar’s sentiments came as she and her co-hosts were discussing Nikki Haley’s widely criticized proposal to force all social media accounts to be verified. During an interview with Fox News this week, the Republican presidential candidate called anonymous social media accounts a “national security threat” that she would address on “Day 1,” but was quickly dragged on social media for the idea (even by X owner Elon Musk).
“Every person on social media should be verified by their name. First of all, it’s a national security threat. When you do that, all of a sudden people have to stand by what they say,” Haley argued.

When ABC’s “The View” premiered in the summer of 1997, it was introduced by creator Barbara Walters as a talk show focused on “women of different generations, backgrounds, and views.” To that end, the meticulously curated inaugural panel of hosts consisted of five loquacious ladies (aged 22-67) who brought an abundance of life experience to the table. Over 27 seasons, the ever-popular show has gone through 24 full-time hosts whose tenures have lasted an average of five years. Scroll through our chronological photo gallery to learn more about the fascinating careers of these lively presenters.
Walters, who also served as an original host of “The View,” was joined in that sense by Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, Meredith Vieira, and (periodically at first but then permanently) Joy Behar. Today, only Behar remains, with the rest of the present lineup featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro. Over the years,...

As concerns around President Biden’s age continue to weigh on the 2024 presidential campaign, “The View” host Ana Navarro has a suggestion for him: make an advertisement starring celebrities of a certain age. Among those older celebrities? Her cohosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.
Monday’s episode of the ABC talk show was dedicated to celebrating Goldberg’s 68th birthday, but they did manage to sneak in one Hot Topic at the top of the show. That topic was Carol Alt, who has joined OnlyFans at age 62.
For the most part, the women of “The View” were largely supportive, saying that it’s just another example of defying ageism. Eventually, Navarro offered an idea for how Biden himself might combat ageism.
“I keep thinking that the Biden campaign should do a commercial where they have, like, Martha Stewart, and Mick Jagger, who’s out on tour, and, you know, Gladys Knight,...

Elvis Presley’s hips may have been a cause for swooning amongst young women at the height of his fame but, for “The View” host Joy Behar, he actually inspired fear. The ABC host admitted on Wednesday that she was “very scared” of him when she was growing up.
The admission came as “Priscilla” director Sofia Coppola stopped by the show, and regaled the women with everything she learned from Priscilla Presley’s book, as well as working with her. As the discussion went on, the women at the table marveled at just how famous Elvis truly was at the peak of his career.
“I was scared of him when I was a child,” Behar admitted. When host Sara Haines asked if it was specifically his hips that Behar was afraid of, she noted that they were certainly part of it.
“He was very sexual, whereas James Dean was not.

As always, the hosts of “The View” went all out with their Halloween costumes on Tuesday, this year celebrating their parent network. In honor of the Disney100 celebration, the women hosted the day’s show dressed as their favorite Disney characters.
Granted, the episode started in a fairly spooky way. In the opening minutes, viewers were treated to footage of a horse strutting up to the studio, ridden by none other than The Headless Horseman — er, in this case, Horsewoman.
As the episode kicked off in earnest, it was revealed that host Whoopi Goldberg opted to go with the Headless Horseman as her costume..

Sherri Shepherd staged a View reunion by having Joy Behar on Sherri on October 11, and the former co-hosts shared a shocking story about the late Barbara Walters and Richard Pryor during their interview. According to Shepherd, the late comedian Paul Mooney told her years ago that he walked in on Walters and Pryor hooking up. The story came up when Shepherd was ribbing Behar about their time together on The View. As Shepherd teased, “You liked it that I was scared of Barbara Walters. You used to laugh.” “What was scary about her?” Behar said, as Shepherd replied, “I don’t know. “Naked Attraction” continues to be a Hot Topic on “The View” (whether Whoopi Goldberg likes it or not), and on Thursday, it led to a blunt statement from Joy Behar to her cohost, Alyssa Farah Griffin.

But, Farah Griffin, who previously worked in Washington D.C. in several positions, noted that she’d rather subject herself to nudity streamed nationwide than take that job.
“I would literally rather appear on that show ‘Naked Attraction,’ that Sunny’s obsessed with, than be Speaker of the House,” Farah Griffin joked. “This is the most thankless job in Washington.”

Joy Behar has no plans to leave “The View” any time soon, if her comments on Tuesday’s show are to be believed. The ABC host joked that, in reality, she’ll leave the talk show “in a coffin, probably.”
Behar is one of the longest running hosts at the table, having been with “The View” since the beginning — minus a two-year hiatus after getting fired in 2013. So she’s seen a few guests multiple times. That includes former “Spice Girls” member Geri Haliwell-Horner, who appeared on the show Tuesday.
Her first appearance, as Behar reminded her, was back in 2003. “And you’re still standing!” Haliwell-Horner joked. “I love it.”
Behar thanked her for the love, then joked that, realistically, she’ll probably exit the show only when she dies.

The question came up as the ABC hosts were discussing “The Super Models,” a new docuseries on Apple TV+ that looks back on the careers of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington. In it, Whoopi Goldberg explained, Crawford speaks about her past relationship with Richard Gere, and says that as a young woman, you’re “willing to mold yourself around the person you’re in love with.”

“The View” host Joy Behar may not be totally up-to-date on pop culture, but apparently, aliens are a particular blind spot for her. On Wednesday’s episode of the show, the ABC host had to pause mid-segment to ask her cohosts what exactly Area 51 is.
The question came as the ladies were discussing the alleged discovery of mummified alien corpses in Mexico this week, and debating how much they actually believe the bodies are from aliens. Most of the hosts were skeptical at best, saying that the bodies looked a little too similar to aliens seen in movies.
Host Sara Haines also pointed out that the ufologist who brought the bodies forward has had previous discoveries debunked, but Sunny Hostin chose to believe.
“Everybody makes mistakes, Ok? This time, they’re mummified alien corpses, and they probably have ’em in Area 51,” Hostin said. “Everybody knows that!”
At that, Behar chimed in with some confusion.

If President Biden wants Black voters to come out in support of him in 2024, he better not be thinking of running without Kamala Harris — at least, that’s what “The View” host Sunny Hostin argued on Thursday.
Her assertion came as she and her co-hosts discussed an interview Sen. Nancy Pelosi gave CNN this week, in which she was asked point-blank (twice) by Anderson Cooper if she thinks Kamala Harris is the best running mate for Biden in 2024. In response, Pelosi replied that “he thinks so, and that’s what matters,” and lauded Harris for being “politically astute.”
Hostin pointed out that, in 2020, Biden earned 91% percent of the Black vote, and swore that Black people would come out and support him again — if Kamala Harris is his running mate.
“I would be very careful, President Biden, about getting rid of Kamala Harris. Because we will not support you,” she said bluntly.

Matthew McConaughey stopped by “The View” on Tuesday and, in perhaps the oddest turn of events, ended up massaging host Joy Behar’s foot right there at the table. Though it was undeniably odd, it may not have been a surprising turn of events, considering it’s not the first time it’s happened.
During his appearance, host Alyssa Farah Griffin reminded McConaughey that, when he was there in 2006, he ended up giving Behar a foot massage during the show. Behar called it “a highlight of my life” as they played the clip back.
So, it was perhaps inevitable when Behar suddenly smiled and said, “It just so happens I got a pedicure this week,” and once again lifted her bare foot to McConaughey.
The actor went along with the bit though, blowing on his hands and diving right in to give her yet another massage.

The hosts of “The View” were stunned on Friday, when Joy Behar suggested suggested that Pennsylvania residents use a gun to defend their homes from an escaped convict currently on the loose. Host Alyssa Farah Griffin marveled that the sentiment was “a breakthrough.”
Typically, Behar is vocally anti-gun, and has advocated for a complete ban on assault rifles repeatedly on the show. But, when she and her co-hosts were discussing what they would do if they lived in a town where an escaped convict was evading capture, she admitted this is one scenario she might advocate for a gun.

Whoopi Goldberg missed another day of The View due to her third bout with Covid, but sent a video message to the show to dispel internet rumors about her absence.

“In spite of everything you’ve heard,” said a masked and tired-looking Goldberg, “I am not at Burning Man, I am not still in Italy, I am not trying to change the outcome of the election, I just have Covid.”
Today’s episode began just as yesterday’s, with co-host Joy Behar in the moderator seat and explaining Goldberg’s absence. “Whoopi is still under the Cover weather,” Behar said before addressing internet comments questioning the vaccinated Goldberg’s illness.
“People write she got the vaccine so how come she still gets it?,” Behar said. ” “Because she’s not dead! She’s just a little under the weather. If you don’t get [the vaccine] and you get the disease you might die.

The View creator Barbara Walters struck fear in Debbie Matenopoulos when she was one of the co-hosts at the iconic table. Matenopoulos was nervous to sit next to Walters at the table, but also grateful to have worked for her. In a recent interview, Matenopoulos recalled how Walters would quietly “church pinch” her under the table every time she slipped up on camera.
The experience was so stress-inducing that she was relieved when she earned a new seat, away from Walters, at the table. Matenopoulos also revealed how one of the scariest on-camera experiences became a valuable learning moment in her career, thanks to Walters.

“We’re back. Thank you, this is the premiere show of our 27th year on the air. I was here for all of it, except for two, when they canned me. When they sacked my behind,” Behar said.
“As you can see, Whoopi is not here, she has Covid,” she continued. “Yes, it’s back, it’s back, but she’s on the mend, she’s on the tail end, and she’ll probably be back this week. But, sorry she’s not here, for those of you that were looking forward to seeing her.

Whoopi Goldberg was absent from the Season 27 premiere episode of The View today due to yet another case of Covid, though many usual viewers throughout the country will miss the show too: The View did not air today in markets impacted by the ongoing clash between Disney and Spectrum.
In New York City, for example, where the daytime series originates, viewers attempting to tune into the show were greeted with the same Spectrum message that’s been on the ABC affiliate channel all weekend: “The Walt Disney Company, owner of this channel, has removed their programming from Spectrum,” the message begins. “We offered Disney a fair deal, and yet they continue to demand an excessive increase.”
Disney, obviously, disagrees, and in its latest statement recommends that frustrated viewers of the 18 Disney networks and eight ABC stations impacted by the carriage dispute switch from Spectrum to Hulu + Live TV or streaming TV bundles like YouTube TV.
