Exclusive: CBS‘ The Equalizer is on break until February, but Deadline has your exclusive first look at scenes from episode 308 introducing Mel’s (Liza Lapira) siblings to be portrayed by Camille Mana and Trevor Salter.
In the final beats of Sunday night’s episode titled “Paradise Lost,” Mel is hot on the trail of a mysterious stranger who she believes knows the whereabouts of her brother Edison (Salter) for reasons as yet unknown. Although not mentioned in the fall finale, Mana will bring to life Mel’s disapproving sister, Ruby.
Lapira, who brings to life the badass former sniper and Robyn’s (Queen Latifah) ride-or-die, shares some insight into that scene, the Bayani family reunion, and what’s ahead when the show returns in early 2023.
“Episode 307 ends on a cliffhanger, so we only know that [the stranger] is somehow involved [in Mel’s brother’s disappearance] and she is going on a rampage to take his friends down.

Cinelou Films has released the trailer for Jennifer Aniston's upcoming film, Cake, which is getting lots of Oscar buzz for Aniston.
The film also co-stars Felicity Huffman, Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick, Camille Mana, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Chris Messina, William H. Macy. Britt Robertson,Lucy Walters, and Manuel Garcia Rulfo.
Cake follows Claire Simmons (Jennifer Aniston) who is in pain. Her physical pain is evident in the scars that line her body and the way she carries herself, wincing with each tentative step. She's no good at hiding her emotional pain either. Blunt to the point of searing insult, Claire's anger seethes out of her with nearly every interaction. She has driven away her husband, her friends - even her chronic-pain support group has kicked her out.
The only one left in Claire's otherwise solitary existence is her housekeeper-cum-caretaker, Silvana (Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza), who barely tolerates her boss' need for liquor and prescription pills.

Jennifer Aniston will have quite the “support” group of actors for her next journey into indie film format. Moving away from familiar rom com territory, TheWrap reports that the A-lister and the previously announced Adriana Barraza and Mamie Gummer will be joined by Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick, Chris Messina, the wife-hubby tandem of Felicity Huffman & William H. Macy, Britt Robertson, Lucy Walters, Camille Mana, Manuel Garcia Rulfo and finally, Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Daniel Barnz’s Cake, a 2013 Black List project, should be lensing fairly soon. Messina will play Aniston’s ex-husband who still cares about her deeply, while Huffman will play the facilitator of the support group. Kendrick will appear as a ghost who taunts Claire. Mana will play Claire’s nurse, who has no patience for her demands.

There’s always room for Cake – especially now that the wider cast list of this upcoming independent film has been announced. The comedy-drama from director Daniel Barnz (Won’t Back Down) will soon be heading before the cameras with Jennifer Aniston in the lead role, but with a varied resume – swinging wildly from the tedious Bounty Hunter to the excellent Good Girl – an Aniston movie can go either way. Ultimately, it’s the script and supporting cast that determines which end of the quality spectrum the film swings toward.

My friend and I found ourselves discussing Jesse Eisenberg's new play, Asuncion, for a good half hour after we recently saw it. That says something for the play; while slight and not fully realized, I found Asuncion to be amusing, fairly entertaining, and, obviously, based on our post-play conversation, thought-provoking. And, yes, this is the same Jesse Eisenberg who is better known as an actor and was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in The Social Network. With Asuncion, Eisenberg shows he has some talent as a playwright. Nevertheless, Asuncion is not quite funny enough for a flat-out comedy and not dramatic or powerful enough for a fully satisfying drama. Still, I'm glad I saw it.
Eisenberg not only wrote the play, he is its star. He plays Edgar, an aimless slacker who lives in the apartment of Vinny, played by Justin Bartha. Vinny is a pothead...

In Jesse Eisenberg's new play 'Asuncion,' which he also wrote, two 20-something roommates, Vinny (Justin Bartha) and Edgar (Eisenberg), confront their own latent racism when a new roommate Asuncion (Camille Mana) arrives from the Philippines. Edgar is plagued with over-educated remorse for the "sex slave," as he calls Asuncion (who's come to the Us to marry their mutual friend), while Vinny prefers to think of her as a "sex worker" who happens to be hot. What with the fast-talking, and well-meaning awkwardness, the whole thing reads like the smartest-ever episode of "The Big Bang Theory," with Eisenberg playing a kinder, gentler Sheldon. Neither of which are bad things, at all. The show runs through Nov. 27 at New York's Cherry Lane Theater.

Chicago – His eyes are at once weary and sardonic, brooding and vulnerable. He doesn’t know how to cry for help, apart from crying wolf. He resists the spotlight when it’s placed upon him and yet still craves attention from his peers. He’s deeply cynical about life in general, yet is prone to falling for the sweetness of a pure-hearted soul. And he’d probably be well adjusted if it weren’t for the enormous weight on his shoulders.

He’s Norman, the titular subject of Jonathan Segal’s terrific indie dramedy, which is finally making its theatrical debut after garnering acclaim on the festival circuit. Unlike many high school outcasts in modern film, Norman has the look, the behavior and the attitude of a real teenager. His uncommon intelligence and natural wit are apparent in his dialogue, but he’s not scoring hyper-stylized punchlines like Juno.

Norman Trailer. Jonathan Segal‘s Norman (2010) movie trailer stars Dan Byrd, Emily VanCamp, Richard Jenkins, Adam Goldberg, and Billy Lush. Norman‘s plot synopsis: “Norman Long is a high school loner, a self-aware and darkly funny teen who’s just trying to handle his daily existence. In the wake of his mother’s sudden death, Norman must now also deal with the reality that his father is starting to lose his battle with stomach cancer.
Norman, depressed and angry, unintentionally gets caught in a lie that he, in fact, has stomach cancer. Soon his complete distortion of the facts spirals out of control. Part coping mechanism, partially as a way to feel closer to his father, and to a certain degree to prepare others for his possible suicide, Norman begins to imitate his father’s debilitating physical symptoms, dramatically affecting his life and the world around him.

I'd been acting for many years, and had reached the point where something had to give. Not only was the pavement pounded—it was ground to a fine powder. I was willing to make one last big effort, and go out with a bang, so to speak. More like the Big Bang—giving birth to something huge—than "Bang Bang, You're Dead." Making a feature film could be just that: One that I wrote and in which I appeared as the lead. I've made some short films. Now I'd finally written a feature-length screenplay, "The Things We Carry." I hadn't intended to write such a personal story. It started out as one thing, and by the time I was done with it—years later—it had morphed from a narrative casually influenced by my experiences to one that was unequivocally inspired by my life. While there's still plenty of fictionalization and dramatization,...
