Tehran, the Israeli spy thriller that airs globally on Apple TV+, has become one of the most high-profile TV series to land a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.
The series has been added to the list, which allows production to continue filming, despite the ongoing actors strike. See the updated full list below.
Other high-profile movies such as Dakton Fanning-fronted The Watchers and Sam Raimi-produced Don’t Move have also been granted waivers, as has hit faith series The Chosen.
It’s not entirely clear how Tehran has found itself on this list, given that AMPTP member Apple is involved but we hear it might have something to do with the series’ origins.
The series was created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn and is produced by Donna and Shula Productions, which was formed by Eden and Shula Spiegel. It initially aired on Israeli network Kan 11. Cineflix...

“Once you’re in, there’s no way out,” according to the tag line for Israeli/U.S. co-production “Tehran.” Never has a truer word been written when it comes to the spy thriller’s nail-biting eight-episode first season, which concluded in July 2020. And now fans of the show are on the edge of their seats again on the eve of its sophomore season premiere this Friday, May 6 on Apple TV Plus. Will “Tehran” Season 2 infiltrate the 2022 Emmys?
Trust me, this show hooks you from the moment a commercial plane flying from Jordan to India is forced to make an emergency landing in Iran, launching a series of events in which undercover Mossad agents try desperately to stay one step ahead of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Irgc) agents hunting them down. This is not your average run-of-the-mill spy thriller. Think “24” or” “Homeland,” but on steroids.

Cineflix Rights has acquired exclusive global distribution rights to “Tehran,” the Israel-Iran espionage thriller created by Moshe Zonder (“Fauda”), Dana Eden (“Mother’s Day”) and Maor Kohn.
“Tehran” follows the story Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad computer hacker-agent who travels to the Iranian capital, where she was born and raised, to undertake her very first mission, disabling an Iranian nuclear reactor. When the Mossad mission fails, Tamar goes rogue in Tehran as she rediscovers her Iranian roots and becomes romantically entwined with a pro-democracy activist.
Zonder said that “through (this young woman’s) journey and the unfolding drama around her, ‘Tehran ‘aims to shed new light on the Israeli-Iranian conflict, and take on universal struggles around immigration, identity and patriotism, to examine whether it is possible to become free from these restraints.”
The series is directed by Daniel Syrkin (“The Gordin Cell”) and produced by Donna Productions and Shula Spiegel Productions...
