Her husband, Senkichi Taniguchi, died on October 29, 2007 of pneumonia at age 95 after 50 years of marriage.
She performed well over 100 roles in a feature film and television career that lasted approximately 67 years. Battling pancreatic cancer at 88, she continued acting until the year before her passing in 2019.
She did the voice of "Miss Marple" in a Japanese animated television series based on stories written by Agatha Christie.
