Things just got serious on Deutschland 83. Deadly serious. If Martin—or viewers—had any doubts as to the stakes involved in his accidental spy career, “Northern Wedding” dispels them with taut, gutting efficiency. As the series hits the mid-point of its 8-episode run, nearly every relationship on the show is brought to a head, and the fallout leaves literal and emotional casualties everywhere. Unfortunately, most of them are innocent bystanders.
The tension begins immediately, as the bug Martin planted under Linda’s expensive new antique desk in last week’s “Atlantic Lion” is discovered by a maid. COLOGNE, Germany -- Andrea Willson, former head of production at Columbia Pictures' German-language division and now a production executive with Swiss-based Falcom Media Group, has been tapped to head Universal Pictures' new German operation.
Universal co-chairman David Linde is expected to announce Willson's appointment at the Berlin Film Festival, which kicks off Thursday. Linde also will unveil details of the studio's strategy for the Berlin-based division, which will focus on local-language features.
As head of Deutsche Columbia Pictures, Willson had a major hit with her first production, the horror thriller "Anatomy", directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky (Oscar nominee "The Counterfeiters").
After "Anatomy 2" fell well short of the original, Columbia pulled the plug on its German operation. Willson moved to Falcom in 2004 to build up the group's German film division.

SPE will close the German unit within the next few months. Andrea Willson, managing director of Berlin-based Deutsche Columbia TriStar, will continue to develop and produce for Sony via a new multiyear production agreement, SPE said. Although Willson plans to remain in Berlin, SPE said she likely will work with the company's other European production divisions in Spain and the United Kingdom.
