Honda Cr-v: ‘Bigger inside, smaller outside’
Honda has released a campaign to launch its new sport utility vehicle, the Cr-v.
The campaign, which is led by cinema and TV ads, is the first off the production line from Leo Burnett Melbourne, which took over the account the now-defunct DraftFCB three months ago.
The campaign, which features a re-recording of the Broadway classic ‘Anything you can do, I can do better’, introduces the new tagline ‘The power of clever thinking’ – a slightly tweaked version of the classic Honda slogan ‘The power of dreams’.
The idea behind the ad is to show how the Cr-v is superior to other SUVs in the market.
Leo Burnett Melbourne’s Ecd Jason Williams said in a press release: “A launch of a vehicle like the Cr-v was an irresistible opportunity for us to highlight some of the strengths it has over its competitors. After all,...

After what Cannes juror Jason Williams described as an “average year” for Australia in the Radio Lions, the Leo Burnett Melbourne Ecd has called on the industry to think harder about creative ways to use the medium.
While Aussie agencies are “good at gags”, they are falling short in how they use the radio medium creatively, he told Mumbrella.
“Radio is one of the oldest media – and as such is seen as old fashioned in Australia,” he said. “The one area that is particularly lacking is innovation and the creative use of the medium. We need to rethink radio beyond 30-second jokes.”
The Radio Lions grand prix went to Brazil, with an idea that used a sonic frequency – inaudible to humans – to repel mosquitos.
“Radio networks in Australia are gagging for ad agencies to be more innovative with the medium. We need to be looking at radio differently. Other markets...

Earphone bully: gold Radio Lion winner
Australia picked up three lions – two less than 2011 – in a quiet year for Australian radio at Cannes.
Radio specialist Eardrum, with Sapient Nitro Brisbane, won gold for Earphone bully.
Leo Burnett Sydney picked up two bronzes, both for Bundaberg Red. Shortlisted entries from JayGrey and Whybins missed out.
Australian entries into the category were up from 72 in 2011 to 90 this year.
The grand prix winner – one of the most talked about at the festival so far this week – came from Brazil. Agency Talent Sao Paulo used a radio frequency – inaudible to humans – to repel mosquitos.
Australian juror Jason Williams, Ecd of Leo Burnett Melbourne lamented on an “average year” for Australian radio.

A mother high on bath salts was seen running naked towards her frightened 3-year-old son, beating and choking him. Pamela McCarthy of Munnsville, New York was allegedly high on bath salts when she was spotted running naked through the streets to her startled child, who was clinging to his father Jason Williams in fear. The shocking report from Daily Mail says witnesses called the police on June 12 to report that the mother was punching and choking her son, attacking neighbors and strangling one of her dogs. Police arrived on the scene to see the deranged 35-year-old mother growling and trying to bite people. She was subdued with a Taser, suffered cardiac arrest, and later died in the hospital. Officers said Pamela was "violently combative" and apparently under the influence of the drug. Police tried to arrest her but she resisted. They used pepper spray to no effect so they had...
