- Inducted into the Hollywood Stuntmen's Hall Of Fame, 1984.
- While at Leath Elementary School in Memphis, Tennessee, he was classmates with Wilma Wyatt, who became Dixie Lee before she married Bing Crosby.
- He can be spotted in the famous charge scene in The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936). The man leaping up from the ground and remounting his racing horse is not Errol Flynn, but Buster Wiles.
- He can be easily spotted doubling for Errol Flynn in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). When Robin Hood escapes into the crowd after the archery tournament, his "disguise" is so effective because he's played by Buster rather than Flynn. A DVR recording of the TCM broadcast of the movie, viewing the scene in slow motion, is required to see him. A DVD recording cannot be played in slow motion smoothly enough to be able to spot him.
