The sad news came out this afternoon as CBS decided not to order a fourth season.
NCIS: Hawai’i had been on the renewal bubble for a while, with the network forced to make a difficult decision due to its packed schedule.
While NCIS was picked up for its 22nd season and NCIS: Sydney Season 2 got ordered, the Vanessa Lachey-led show did not survive.

The NCIS: Origins cast added another big piece of the puzzle.
An announcement was made that the producers added someone to play Gibbs’ dad – and they made a great choice.
The new show from the NCISverse is set in 1991, telling early stories from NCIS that revolve around Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks.
Mark Harmon played Gibbs on NCIS, but the younger version of the character will be played by someone new.
Some NCIS fans felt that Mark Harmon’s son (Sean Harmon) could do the role, especially with how well he played a younger Gibbs in flashback episodes of NCIS.
Actor Austin Stowell is now playing Gibbs, which might be hard for some NCIS fans to accept.

Well, when we spoke with Rocky Carroll, he did say that “procedurals—and this procedural in particular—are very reminiscent of what Westerns meant to television in the ’60s and ’70s,” so why not bring a bit of a Western vibe with some casting into the world of NCIS? Robert Taylor, who starred on the western Longmire, has been cast in the recurring role of Gibbs’ hard-nosed father, Jackson, in the upcoming prequel NCIS: Origins. Austin Stowell will be playing the young version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, with Mark Harmon, who starred for 19 seasons as the character on NCIS, narrating and executive producing the series. Breann White; Wes & Alex Photo Daniel Bellomy and Caleb Martin Foote will also recur, both as special agents at Nis. Bellomy’s Granville “Granny” Dawson is a young probationary agent, who’...

Olivia Walton would never. The Waltons star Michael Learned recently reunited with her onscreen daughter Judy Norton for a cooking lesson and a chat about their time on the classic CBS drama. During their conversation, Learned admitted that in real life, she wasn’t quite as squeaky clean as her character on TV, much to the shock of some fans.

"Good night, John-Boy. Good night, Elizabeth. And good night, daddy. Good night, son. And good night, mama. Good night, Mary Ellen. Good night, Jim Bob." Even if you've never watched a single moment of the classic TV show "The Waltons," the impact the series has had on television continues on even to this day. With the series' roots stemming back all the way to one of the most hated episodes of "The Twilight Zone" in history, references to "The Waltons" have extended all the way to films like 2016's "The Nice Guys," where Matt Bomber's villainous Dr. Malek is given the code name "John Boy" as he shares a similar facial birthmark to John-Boy actor Richard Thomas.

There seems to be a yearning for nostalgia in entertainment these days, given that our daily headlines are rarely upbeat and heartwarming, what with the country’s deeply ingrained political divisions as well as the ongoing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic. That might be why TV execs have been capitalizing on their audience’s hunger for comfort viewing with revivals of hits from past, ranging from “Sex and the City” and “Dexter” to “The Wonder Years” and “Gossip Girl.”
However, this holiday season will get a one-night only treat when the CW presents a new version of an early ‘70s classic, “The Waltons’ Homecoming.” The two-hour film that airs on November 28 at 8 p.m. features actor Richard Thomas, who played John-Boy in the original CBS TV series that premiered in 1972 for nine seasons and launched six more reunion movies for NBC. Bones signs off on Tuesday, after 12 seasons of crime solving, evidence examining, blood, guts and, most importantly, bones. But at the core of the long-running Fox procedural -- the “heart of the matter,” if you will -- was a partnership between forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).
From their first episode together, Brennan and Booth’s dynamic was electric, and while the will-they-or-won’t-they of it all took nearly seven seasons to sort out (more if you count that they don’t actually tie the knot until season nine), their relationship kept fans hooked for all 245 episodes. We watched Brennan wrestle with her feelings as Booth looked for love, saw them lay it all on the line only to yank it back again, and finally, at long last, got to witness their happy ending. Two kids and countless hurdles later, they’re still going strong.

Below, TV Fanatics Ashley Bisette Sumerel and Christine Orlando are joined by Bones fan, Pam, to debate Brennan’s jealously, Max’s future, and whether they’d want an Ami of their own after “The Brain in the Bot.”
Did you believe that Brennan was actually jealous of Daisy and Angela’s success?
Ashley: I did at first, but then I started getting suspicious about halfway through that Brennan actually had something to do with it for both of them.
Pam: Yes, I bought into it as this has been her character. I like that she is written that way, but was happily surprised to find she is changing over time. It is not only refreshing but very sweet. She continues to delight and surprise her family and friends, and above all the audience.

Sometimes it takes a lifetime to figure out the most important lessons in life. The grandparents on Bones have their own way of sharing that wisdom with those they love. Max Keenan (Ryan O'Neal), Marianne Booth (Joanna Cassidy), Hank ?Pops? Booth (Ralph Waite) and Angela?s father (Billy Gibbons) may not be conventional grandparents when you consider they include a criminal, an estranged mother, a parent surrogate, and a gritty guitarist whose name is never mentioned onscreen. However, they are wonderful disseminators of Bones? unique brand of logic and love.

Last season was a turbulent one on NCIS. The show was faced with the challenge of writing off the character of Ziva David and adding the character of Nsa analyst, and new NCIS "probie," Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop (Emily Wickersham). While the finale is usually a cliffhanger, last season NCIS instead paid homage to the death of actor Ralph Waite, who portrayed Gibbs' father, Jackson Gibbs. It was an emotional episode that, in my opinion, is hard for true fans of the show to forget.
This season of NCIS kicks off with "Twenty Klicks," which finds Gibbs and McGee going to Russia to bring home an NCIS computer specialist with classified information when their mission goes awry.

As NCIS chugs into its 12th season Tuesday (8/7c, CBS), creator Gary Glasberg says he's taking a back-to-basics approach for the upcoming year. After so many major event episodes last season — the departure of Ziva (Cote de Pablo), the introduction of Bishop (Emily Wickersham), the NCIS: New Orleans backdoor pilot, and a tribute episode to Ralph Waite — Glasberg says he's excited to be entering a more character-driven run.

Coming off of what showrunner Gary Glasberg has called a “tumultuous” Season 11 — during which two casting changes took place, the seeds were planted for a New Orleans spin-off and the passing of Ralph Waite was written in — CBS’ NCIS is back in “classic” form, Sean Murray tells TVLine.
The Season 12 opener (airing Tuesday at 8/7c) thrusts Murray’s McGee into a Russian hot zone with boss man Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon), paving the way for the introduction of a new adversary. Here, Murray previews all that and more.

Never again, TV Academy. Never again. I don't care if NBC has to do the Emmys in August because of football and if NBC is scared of going head-to-head with a competing award show. Doing the Emmys on Monday is just wrong. But we shall trudge on! Seth Meyers is hosting. Some fantastic TV shows and actors are nominated. Follow along. Comment below. Join the fun. Make the fun. 8:00 p.m. Et. That was some of the worst Red Carpet pre-show I've ever watched between E! and NBC. I never thought I'd miss Ryan Seacrest, but there ya go! 8:00 p.m. Seth Meyers was just outside being interviewed by Billy Bush just two minutes ago. How will he make it inside? How?!?!? 8:00 p.m. A countdown! 20 seconds to go. 8:00 p.m. And now Seth is inside on-stage. How Is That Possible, Billy Bush?!? 8:01 p.m.

As previously reported, TV Line served up their latest spoiler chat session ,and revealed new spoilers for the upcoming NCIS season 12, via executive producer, Gary Glassberg. In their spoiler chat reveal, they stated: "As showrunner Gary Glasberg previously told TVLine, coming off a season that 1) wrote out Ziva, 2) added Bishop, 3) planted the seed for a new spin-off and 4) accounted for Ralph Waite’s passing— and thus ended on a quiet, cliffhanger-free note — “the idea was to come out with a bang.” And the Sept. 23 premiere will do just that. “We’ve got a really significant season opener that brings Gibbs and McGee to Russia for a really big story. It was wall-to-wall, time slot-to-time slot finales last night in primetime as the 2013-14 season enters into its final days. CBS was the only network to have nothing but finales last night, but its traditionally hard-punching Tuesday lineup’s success has been in part due to seamless flow, so a collective bow for the year made sense. And it did as CBS won the night both in terms of adults 18-49 with a 2.3/7 rating and 14.1 million total viewers. The night was kicked off by NCIS (2.6/9), which wrapped up its 11th season with a tribute to actor Ralph Waite among its usual investigations. Waite, who died February 13 and was best known for his paternal role on The Waltons, had recurred on the procedural since 2008 as the father to lead Mark Harmon. To that end, NCIS was both the highest-rated show of the night and the most watched with a beefy 16.77 million tuning in.

NCIS is no stranger to the flashy season finale. Bombs, car crashes, cliffhangers, and the such.
But tonight’s season finale was a taste of something quite different for the show that in years past has proved its ability to shock and stun.
It centered on the death of Gibbs’ father, Jackson, who was portrayed by the late Ralph Waite. We were told for weeks that the episode would be a tribute to the actor — and that it was.

Last time on NCIS, we saw Tony go on a Parisian adventure to bring back a wayward Admiral's daughter that demonstrated two important points: he is an excellent agent and also knows his way around a party bus.
This week's finale, "Honor Thy Father," has Gibbs dealing with his father's death as the team probes a fire on a Navy ship that secretly houses terrorists under indictment. The episode also pays tribute to the late actor Ralph Waite, who played Jackson Gibbs for the past six seasons. It looks like this is going to be an especially emotional NCIS episode.

Though NCIS season finales are known for being action-packed cliff-hangers, the final episode of Season 11 may have fans reaching for tissues rather than sitting on the edge of their seats. The episode will pay tribute to actor Ralph Waite, who died unexpectedly in February.
"Everyone involved really wanted to do this," creator Gary Glasberg tells TVGuide.com. "We wanted to do this properly and say goodbye to a character that we all really enjoyed writing over the years, and goodbye to an actor that meant a lot to us. ... This was such a significant event for us, both on-screen and off, that we wanted to handle it properly and do it well, and let people mourn the passing of Gibbs' dad with him."

Almost a year ago, NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg was pitching storylines to star Mark Harmon when he brought up the idea that would spawn much more than the episode he was hoping to flesh out that day.
“I had learned that there was this small office in the city of New Orleans — a real NCIS office — that this sort of fantastic, larger-than-life character/agent ran for 25 years. Fans of the 1970s television drama The Waltons were saddened to learn of the passing of Ralph Waite on Thursday at age 85. For nine seasons the actor played John Walton, Sr., a father of seven struggling to make ends meet during the Great Depression and World War II.
"[Fans] tell me that I was their surrogate father, the one who brought them up," Waite told Entertainment Weekly last year.
Indeed, Waite's honest portrayal struck a chord with audiences around the world, and left a big impression on actor Richard Thomas, who played eldest son John-Boy on the series.
