- Acted in silent films, frequently opposite actresses Henny Porten and Ossi Oswalda. With the advent of sound, he tended to appear in musical comedy and operettas, various times in tandem with star Renate Mueller.

- During his early days in elementary school and high school in Vienna, and in various land reform schools, Thimig performed with amateur theater groups and private performances.
