An NCIS: Origins cast video was released to get potential viewers excited.
This new show from the NCISverse is taking some risks, as the producers hope fans want to see stories from younger versions of some important characters.
Flashback episodes of NCIS went over very well, with stories like when Leroy Jethro Gibbs first met Donald Mallard. They even had Mark Harmon’s son (Sean Harmon) play a younger version of Gibbs.
The idea to do flashbacks has been fleshed out into a full series, with episodes of NCIS: Origins debuting in Fall 2024.
The new show gets the 10/9c timeslot on Mondays that has been vacated by NCIS: Hawai’i. Unfortunately, the Vanessa Lachey NCIS spin-off was canceled by CBS.
NCIS Season 22 will air on Mondays at 9/8c in the fall, serving as the lead-in for this new prequel show.

The NCIS: Origins cast added another big piece of the puzzle.
An announcement was made that the producers added someone to play Gibbs’ dad – and they made a great choice.
The new show from the NCISverse is set in 1991, telling early stories from NCIS that revolve around Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks.
Mark Harmon played Gibbs on NCIS, but the younger version of the character will be played by someone new.
Some NCIS fans felt that Mark Harmon’s son (Sean Harmon) could do the role, especially with how well he played a younger Gibbs in flashback episodes of NCIS.
Actor Austin Stowell is now playing Gibbs, which might be hard for some NCIS fans to accept.

The red carpet will soon roll out for the 77th Festival de Cannes. The international film festival, playing out May 14-25, has a distinct American voice this year. “Barbie” filmmaker Greta Gerwig is the first U.S. female director name jury president. Many veteran American helmers are heading to the French Rivera resort town. George Lucas, who turns 80 on May 14, will receive an honorary Palme d’Or. Francis Ford Coppola’s much-anticipated “Megalopolis” is screening in competition, as is Paul Schrader’s “Oh Canada.” Kevin Costner’s new Western “Horizon, An American Saga” will premiere out of competition and Oliver Stone’s “Lula” is part of the special screening showcase.
Fifty years ago, Coppola was the toast of the 27th Cannes Film Festival. His brilliant psychological thriller “The Conversation” starring Gene Hackman won the Palme D’Or and well as a Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury. The film would earn three Oscar nominations: picture,...

Well, when we spoke with Rocky Carroll, he did say that “procedurals—and this procedural in particular—are very reminiscent of what Westerns meant to television in the ’60s and ’70s,” so why not bring a bit of a Western vibe with some casting into the world of NCIS? Robert Taylor, who starred on the western Longmire, has been cast in the recurring role of Gibbs’ hard-nosed father, Jackson, in the upcoming prequel NCIS: Origins. Despite Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto being classified as the five "main" characters in the Disney canon (aka "The Fab Five"), it's actually the barrel-chested Pete who arrived before them all in 1925. Originally, Pete was a bear but evolved into Mickey's archnemesis for a time before settling into his role as the loudmouth cat often playing opposite of Goofy as we know and love him today. This new affiliation began in 1992 with the animated series "Goof Troop," which followed Goofy as a single father after he and his son Max moved back to his hometown of Spoonerville. The family ends up moving next door to Pete, a used car salesman with the integrity of Harry Wormwood in "Matilda," his real-estate agent wife Peg, their son P.J., and daughter Pistol. Max and P.J. become fast friends, forcing the two families to connect, and inspiring plenty of hijinks because of it.

Luke Arnold’s latest thriller, Scrublands, sees Martin Scarsden’s investigation into the tragic church killings orchestrated by Pastor Byron Swift. Those who knew Pastor Byron Swift (Jay Ryan) said he was a generous and kind-hearted man. He treated everyone with respect and was always the first to volunteer to serve the community. He preached the teachings of Christ but never forced or pressured anyone to follow suit. Maybe that’s why no one would have suspected what was going to happen next. One day, while everyone gathered around the church for their morning prayers, Pastor Swift went berserk. He cold-bloodedly murdered Craig (Martin Copping), Tom (Scott Major), Alf (Fletcher Humphrys), Hugh (Ben De Pagter), and Gerry (Adam Morgan) with his long-range rifle. Robbie, the cop, arrived at the scene, shot Pastor Swift, and ended his killing spree.

As negotiations between the WGA and the studios and streamers gather steam, the reverberations are being felt well beyond the confines of Sherman Oaks where the sides are sitting down to wrangle over complicated issues at stake. Thousands of miles away, on the other side of the Atlantic, questions are already being asked about what impact a WGA strike may have in the U.K. – and whether British writers, who harbor many of the same concerns as their American counterparts, could ever stage a strike.
“The problems that U.K. writers and U.S. writers face are basically the same,” says Robert Taylor, a lawyer and screenwriter who also acts as a legal advisor to the Writers Guild of Great Britain (Wggb). “The things in the U.S. strike about not getting paid enough by the streaming services, the things about mini [writers’] rooms and the writers being expected to contribute...

The Seattle world premiere of the Jaws-inspired stage musical Bruce has reeled in its Steven Spielberg: The Tony-nominated actor Jarrod Spector will play the young filmmaker circa 1974 as he confronts various challenges while directing what would become the most ferocious of all summer blockbusters.

Based on The Jaws Log, a 1975 nonfiction behind-the-scenes account of the film’s production by Jaws co-screenwriter Carl Gottlieb, the musical, directed and choreographed by Stratford Festival’s Donna Feore, begins previews at Seattle Rep’s Bagley Wright Theater on May 27, with opening night set for June 8. The engagement runs through June 26.

You may have heard it by now but Yellowstone is a big deal. We’re not talking about the American national park (though that is also a big deal) but rather the Paramount Network series. This Kevin Costner-starring modern Western was a surprise hit from the beginning but reached new ratings heights in its most recent fourth season.
Yellowstone is so successful that the series, created by ascendant writer/director Taylor Sheridan, is set to be spun off several times. The first spinoff is prequel 1883, which is streaming on Paramount+. The next will be another modern day tale called 6666. Paramount knows a good thing when it has it and soon there will be more Yellowstone than you can shake a cattle prod at.
Before all those inevitable spinoffs, sequels, and simulacra arrive, however, Yellowstone fans might need another fix. And that’s where we come in! Here we’ve...

“The Goonies’ never say die” is a memorable catchphrase from that fan favorite 1980s film. But it could also describe Warner Bros. TV’s recent strategic efforts to keep some of its series alive through crafty dealmaking.
And that, coincidentally, includes “The Goonies”-inspired “Untitled Film Re-Enactment Project” that had been adapted by writer Sarah Watson into a pilot for Fox. The drama, about a teacher who helps her students re-create, shot-for-shot, the original movie, eventually was passed on by Fox, which felt it skewed too young for the network. But Variety can exclusively report that the series, which now has the title “Our Time,” is being redeveloped at Disney Plus. The Donner Company and Amblin, which were behind the original, are back on board.
“Sarah worked nonstop to deliver this incredible script, we had our table read, and then the world shut down for Covid,” says Clancy Collins White,...

Chivalry! Vows of loyalty and honor! Combat action that will impress today’s Marvel fans! The violet eyes and super-damsel figure of Elizabeth Taylor! MGM’s made-in-Merrie Olde England tale of Knights and knaves and forbidden love is yet another suits-of-armor sword-basher about ransoming King Richard from those European Union swine across the channel. Everything clicks, from Miklos Rozsa’s most stirring anthem to the righteous justice of the finale. And it’s restored from 3-strip Technicolor. Robert Taylor is terrific as the stalwart Ivanhoe, the kind of no-funny-business hero they ain’t makin’ anymore.

Studiocanal’s Red Production Company has secured the rights to Irish novelist John Boyne’s latest critically-acclaimed novel “The Echo Chamber,” after a competitive auction.
The novel will become a 10-part returnable series, which Boyne will adapt for screen. Boyne is the author of 2006 novel “The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas,” which has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide and has been adapted for cinema, theatre, ballet and opera.
“The Echo Chamber” follows five days in the gilded lives of the Cleverley family as their respective worlds come crashing down. The novel topped the bestseller charts in Ireland on publication earlier this year.
The deal was negotiated by Emily Hayward Whitlock and Robert Taylor at the Artists Partnership in association with Simon Trewin.
Sarah Doole, CEO Red Production Company said: “I have always loved John Boyne’s beautiful writing, but ‘The Echo Chamber’ was the most brilliant surprise. It is...

The movie awards’ season is in full flower with such films as Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog”; Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story”; Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast,” Guillermo Del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” and Joel Coen’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth” among the favorites for top prizes. But one thing we know for certain is that there is no sure thing when it comes to the Oscars. Consider the case of seventy years ago. Not only were there surprises among the nominees, but there were also some shocks when it came to the winners of the 1952 Oscars.
Let’s revisit the 24th Academy Awards, which took place March 20, 1952 at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood and were hosted by Danny Kaye. This was the last time the ceremony was presented on radio. The show moved to television the following year. Among the presenters that evening were Lucille Ball,...

This colorful gangland drama was made by a studio in transition, in the middle of a crippling musician’s strike. Robert Taylor and Cyd Charisse were MGM’s last contract stars; her costumes and dance numbers are wildly anachronistic for the period setting and she refused to take direction from Nicholas Ray, whose career was coming apart at the seams. Yet the maverick director must have done something right, as the show has remained a favorite of audiences and critics. Co-starring Lee J. Cobb, John Ireland and Corey Allen. The Wac’S remastered Blu-ray is a beauty.
