The Big Three network morning shows had the tough assignment Tuesday of launching a day of marathon election coverage with precious little actual news from the polls to report.
ABC News’ “Good Morning America,” NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “CBS This Morning” all largely focused on Election Day issues and the voting process. They brought out familiar election experts, political surrogates, data wonks, veteran analysts and reporters to discuss themes that have been well-worn over the past few weeks as the clock ticked down to the end of voting amid the pandemic.
All three shows brought out the bunting for the nation’s quadrennial ritual. “CBS This Morning” originated from the Eye’s special election headquarters desk erected with plenty of red-white-and-blue motifs from inside the Times Square headquarters of ViacomCBS.

Funny or insensitive? A section of a haunted house near Chicago devoted to serial killer John Wayne Gacy is drawing complaints, but the producers see it as something humorous and are calling it "art." The "Gacy room" is part of Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare in the Chicago suburb of Villa Park. In a replica living room replete with 1970s-era wallpaper and furnishings, "Gacy" is dressed in a clown costume and the actor, complete with clown makeup, sits in a recliner blowing up balloons. Next to him sit two child-sized dolls dressed as Boy Scouts with khaki-colored ties and shorts.

Chicago -- A court official says Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson has arrived at a Chicago courthouse for the start of the trial of a man accused of killing her mother, brother and nephew.
Courtroom spokesman Terry Sullivan says Hudson is in the building, but will not be in court for opening statements. He didn't elaborate.
The 30-year-old actress and singer is among a list of 300 potential witnesses who could be called.
William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, is charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 slayings. Prosecutors say Balfour shot them in 2008 in a jealous rage because his estranged wife, Julia Hudson, had a new boyfriend.
Julia Hudson has said her sister screamed when she told her about the murders.

Sarah Palin's new reality TV series debuts this weekend. Shushannah Walshe talks to producer Mark Burnett about Palin's massive payday, her 2012 race, and how the show may make her more appealing politically.
Sarah Palin's slick, new reality show, premiering this Sunday night, may qualify as the earliest, most expensive presidential campaign ad ever made.

Produced by the godfather of reality TV, Mark Burnett, and costing several million dollars, 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' is nominally an educational portrait of the largest U.S. state. But the real star, of course, is the former governor herself-bathed in that soft Alaskan light as she fishes salmon, goes ice trekking, and bakes cupcakes for her kids.
While doing so, she gets to allude to her political platform in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. She jokes about 'mama grizzlies' during a fishing trip...
