Great Evenings in the Great Hall, The Cooper Union?s dynamic performance series celebrating the college?s 150th anniversary, continues this fall with appearances by Salman Rushdie, Tony Kushner, Adam Gopnik, Olympia Dukakis, Amy Goodman, Siri Hustvedt, Isaiah Sheffer, Maria Tucci, and Karen Finley. From September through January 2010, in six provocative and entertaining presentations, The Cooper Union will showcase the stirring words of the radicals and reformers who spurred change and propelled advancements in civil rights, the labor movement, education and the arts for the past century-and-a-half. Period music and historic artifacts will complement the fiery oratory and inspiring dialogue that have filled The Great Hall since 1859.

Jane Curtin, the Emmy-winning star of stage, screen and television, will read the M.F.K. Fisher story I Was Really Very Hungry, and Isaiah Sheffer will read Robertson Davies' The Cat That Went to Trinity on Sunday July 19 at 4 Pm at Pier I and West 70th Street at the Hudson River in Manhattan. The event is a special free presentation of the nationally acclaimed Symphony Space's Selected Shorts at the free annual Summer on the Hudson festival.

Actors Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker, who were to appear with host Isaiah Sheffer in Public Radio International?s popular series "Selected Shorts," on May 4 at the Jccsf, have had to cancel the engagement due to conflicting obligations. The unique night of literature in performance in Kanbar Hall will now feature René Auberjonois and Christina Pickles, who join Sheffer in reading short fiction focused on that Sf obsession, food!
