In November of 1993, writer/director John Lafia (Child’s Play 2) unleashed Cujo Cocaine Bear (great punk band name) upon the world with Man’s Best Friend. In the movie, a Tibetan Mastiff named Max 3000 is released from a genetic research facility by a reporter named Lori (Breakfast Club’s Ally Sheedy) while trying to expose a company for their cruel experiments on animals. We eventually learn that while Max might look like the best boy ever, he has a lot more in common with Wesley Snipes’ Simon Phoenix character from Demolition Man than he does Lassie.
While in the lab’s care, Max has been experimented on and genetically enhanced with the DNA of a slew of dangerous animals. For example, if threatened he can camouflage himself with the colors of your garage and hide there like a chameleon before deciding to pop out and bite your dick off. He has super strength,...

On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.
Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

TV icon Bob Newhart honored his Newhart co-star Peter Scolari as a 40-year friend, a joy to work with and “an essential part of the success” of the great 1982-90 CBS sitcom.
In a statement to Deadline, later tweeted, Newhart said, “I knew that Peter was sick, but his death still comes as a great shock. We were friends and colleagues for over 40 years. Julia [Duffy] and Peter, as a vacuous couple (Michael and Stephanie), were an essential part of the success of Newhart. In life, he was a fantastic person, and it was a joy to work together. He will be sorely missed and his passing at 66 is much too early.”

There’s one show that a lot of people are going to remember William Sanderson from even if they don’t recognize his name, since his character of Larry and his introduction of his brother Daryl, and his other brother Daryl, is classic for those that can remember the Newhart show. For a long time now William has been one of the many individuals that have been a supporting character, a sidekick, or someone that’s just there since he’s not exactly a leading man or anyone that might be considered to be anything other than a person that can help out here

Here’s a story about a different kind of ‘lockdown.’ This near-perfect Americana drama might be the real pinnacle of Sissy Spacek’s wonderful career. The no-baloney tale of rural life on the Texas coastline during WW2 is packed with strong emotions and solid sentiment. Wartime hardship and catch-as-catch-can romance strike an uneasy balance with more threatening material, including a highly suspenseful finish. First-time director Jack Fisk hits this one out of the park, with help from Eric Roberts, William Sanderson, Tracey Walter, R.G. Armstrong, Sam Shepard and little Henry Thomas. This is one of those special pictures that creates a warm feeling about people. The ‘Rum and Coca Cola’ scene is perfection of a special kind.

American Gods arrived on Starz with a stellar cast and terrific source material, the novel by Neil Gaiman. It had pedigreed producers in Bryan Fuller, who ankled his shot at Star Trek: Discovery to devote himself fulltime to this; and Michael Green, a superb writer with tons of genre credits. It was visually arresting, emotionally moving, and stunningly weird.
Then there’s the second season. Fuller and Green were jettisoned amidst problems with the skyrocketing budget that exceeded $10 million per episode and their increased deviation from the novel. When Starz finally settled on Jesse Alexander to showrun the season alongside of Gaiman, a novice at television production. They scrapped the first six scripts while Starz cut the order from ten to eight episodes to save money and delayed release marking two years between seasons. Kristen Chenoweth and Gillian Anderson left in support of the ousted producers so their roles needed to be recast.

George Hearst might not be the worst villain ever played by actor Gerald McRaney, but he’s near the top of that list. The real-life wealthy miner and businessman character joined the series “Deadwood” for its third and final season 13 years ago as the main antagonist to the town. And now McRaney has returned for “Deadwood: The Movie” as a U.S. Senator still up to his murderous, devious ways.
For our recent interview (watch the exclusive video above), McRaney claims that most villains don’t think they are evil. He says, “One of the most important things that separates drama from melodrama is that if you’re tasked with playing a villain, you can’t play him villianously. You have to find all the things that justify all the things he’s doing and concentrate on that. Eliminate all of the stuff that might look evil and play the actions.

“Over the years I’ve read a number of different versions of this script,” reveals “Deadwood: The Movie” director Daniel Minahan, “and every year, it never really came to fruition.” But perhaps this was precisely the right time for the long-awaited film that wraps up David Milch‘s celebrated western series, which ended its original three-season run on HBO back in 2006. “David managed to tap into what I feel is an emotional zeitgeist,” he believes. Watch our exclusive video interview with Minahan above.

Thirteen years after “Deadwood” ended abruptly on HBO, Timothy Olyphant returns with guns blazing as Seth Bullock, former sheriff and now a U.S. Marshal. The film version, titled “Deadwood: The Movie,” premieres on May 31 (just in time for 2019 Emmy contention) and picks ups in 1889 as the small western town celebrates entrance into the new 40th state of South Dakota. The two-hour project is written by the original show’s creator David Milch and directed by Daniel Minahan.
Spoilers Below For This Movie:
In our recent interview (watch the video above), Olyphant describes his return as the tough but mostly law-abiding lawman. He says, “David Milch is a genius. He’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being around. Not that I’ve spent too much time hanging out with geniuses, but my understanding is that not too many of them have had the life experiences that [he] has had.

Like sipping whiskey on a lazy Sunday afternoon, “Deadwood: The Movie” gradually but deliberately rewards fans who have waited 13 years to find out what happened to our favorite foul-mouthed ne’er-do-wells.
South Dakota’s 1889 statehood celebration reunites those who moved on from this dusty midwestern town such as Alma Garret (Molly Parker) and Calamity Jane (Robin Weigert) with those who never left. The latter includes Al Swearengen and Seth Bullock.
There’s also Trixie (Paula Malcomson), Doc Cochran (Brad Dourif), Sol Star (John Hawkes) and Charlie Utter (Dayton Callie) among others all spewing beautifully crafted dialogue filled with flowery four-letter swears and gems of wisdom. None are as masterful as McShane, of course, and writer and creator David Milch wastes no time giving good old Al all the best lines.
“Does brevity exist in your repertoire, sir?” Al asks an especially despicable George Hearst, reprised by the incomparable Gerald McRaney.

While we wait for the long awaited Deadwood movie to be released, HBO has shared a great behind-the-scenes video for the fans to watch to help us pass the time and keep us happy and excited about what they are going to deliver.
Deadwood: The Movie comes from writer and creator David Milch and director Daniel Minahan (Game of Thrones) and the video features the wonderful cast and crew of the film discussing what it’s been like for them to slip back into their characters after all these years. It’s pretty cool and worth watching if you’re a fan of the show.
In the film, “the indelible characters of the show are reunited after a decade to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.

Welcome back to Deadwood. HBO has dropped the trailer for the upcoming “Deadwood” reunion movie — just in time for the 15th anniversary of the David Milch-created series debut — and by the looks of things, Ian McShane’s Al Swearengen is coming back with a whole new mess of problems.
In the two-hour film — officially titled “Deadwood: The Movie” — the indelible characters of the show are reunited after a decade to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.

American Gods introduces another new character, maybe, as three Gods vie for the favor of one human.
This American Gods review contains spoilers.
American Gods Season 2, Episode 4
One of the things you can say for American Gods is the show's creative team still manages to pull in good actors for even the smallest of bit roles. For example, the one-off appearance of Vulcan in the first season was delightful—I mention it pretty often—because of the performance of Corben Bernsen, who has always been a fun actor to watch.
This week, perhaps in an attempt to curry favor with New God The Reviewer, American Gods brings in none other than William Sanderson to play Money, the most powerful God in this history of Gods, and the God that stands beyond all descriptions. New, Old, or Other, Money has always been important, and since the first incident of bartering for coin,...

Al Swearengen is f—in’ back. HBO released the first trailer for “Deadwood: The Movie” on Thursday, which was also the 15th anniversary of the series premiere of “Deadwood.”
The teaser (watch above) doesn’t give too much away from the film, which is scheduled to premiere Friday, May 31 at 8/7c, aka the final day of Emmy eligibility, but it’s so nice to see those faces and ‘staches again. Set in 1889, the film follows Al Swearengen (Ian McShane) & Co. as they reunite after a decade to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Needless to say, things don’t go too smoothly. Per HBO, “former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.”
“You ever think, Bullock, of not going straight at a thing,” Al asks in the clip.
“No,” Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) deadpans.

In case you had any doubts that the Deadwood movie was actually happening, doubt no longer because the first trailer for it has just dropped!
As a fan of the HBO western series, it’s so great to see all of these characters together again after thirteen years! I was already excited for this movie, but this trailer definitely upped that excitement. It pretty crazy that this movie actually exists because I never thought it would.
Game of Thrones helmer Daniel Minahan directed the film from a script written by creator David Milch, and the story is set to take place 10 years after the events of the series.

HBO’s “Deadwood” reunion movie finally has a premiere date, with the pay cable network announcing Thursday that the long-in-the-works follow-up to David Milch’s HBO series will premiere on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt.
In the two-hour film — officially titled “Deadwood: The Movie” — the indelible characters of the show are reunited after a decade to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. HBO unveiled a brand new sizzle reel earlier today, and it teased a lot of drama on the horizon for fans of the premium cabler.
Arguably, the biggest part of the clip is the brand new Game of Thrones Season 8, and it shows a meeting for the ages.
The Unsullied arrive at Winterfell with Drogon flying over them.
Arya gets a glimpse of the dragon, and we think it's fair to say she thinks it's going to help them win the upcoming war against the undead.
While people in the background look scared at the scale of the creature, Arya can't help but smile because, well, it's a freaking dragon!

Who’s up for a visit to Deadwood?
HBO on Sunday released a sizzle reel featuring never-before-seen footage from new and returning series, including the highly anticipated Deadwood reunion movie.
What little is shown from the feature-length revival includes Timothy Olyphant, who reprises his starring role as Seth Bullock. We first see him packing heat outside Star & Bullock Hardware, then mid-conversation with Ian McShane’s Al Swearengen in the Gem Saloon. “My job ain’t to follow the law, Al. My job is to interpret it,” he says.

When HBO Programming President Casey Bloys last July announced that the long-in-the-works Deadwood movie has finally been greenlighted, his guess was that the film might debut in Spring 2019. That had been the target premiere date, and I hear it has now been firmed up. David Milch’s Deadwood followup will debut this spring and will be eligible for the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Filming on the movie, which is set 10 years after the events in the cult series, started in November with most of that original cast of the series, which ran on HBO for three seasons, returning.
That includes Ian McShane (Al Swearengen), Timothy Olyphant (Seth Bullock), Molly Parker (Alma Ellsworth), Paula Malcomson (Trixie), John Hawkes (Sol Star), Anna Gunn (Martha Bullock), Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter), Brad Dourif (Doc Cochran), Robin Weigert (“Calamity” Jane Canary), William Sanderson (E.B. Here’s concrete proof that HBO is really making that Deadwood movie! EW has released a couple photos from David Milch‘s western, and they feature the return of Ian McShane as the vicious Al Swearengen, owner of the Gem saloon, along with Timothy Olyphant as Seth Bullock, who is now a U.S. Marshall.

As the number of scripted series continues to grow (more than 500 in 2018), it is not just a race to produce the biggest quantity, but also the highest quality programming. Looking at the upcoming slate for 2019, there appears to be no shortage of unique stories coming.
Here, Variety previews the most anticipated scripted television of 2019 — both new and returning.
“The Act” (premieres spring 2019)
Hulu
Inspired by the real-life saga of Dee Dee Blanchard — a woman who conned friends, neighbors, strangers, and her own daughter into thinking her daughter suffered from debilitating diseases — and her daughter Gypsy Rose — who plotted her mother’s murder — this limited series stars Patricia Arquette and Joey King. It’s the latest in a long line of true-crime tales come to life on the small screen, but the toxic familial relationship at the center and actor commitment to transformation, will surely make it extra compelling.

Twelve years after “Deadwood” left the airwaves, HBO has announced that its Emmy-winning western series will return as a TV movie in 2019. Production began this week for the telefilm that’s set a decade after the events of the show’s original 1870s timeline. So which cast members are returning for the “Deadwood” movie and which new star has been announced? Click through our photo gallery above for all the f***ing details.

The sweariest saloon in the Wild West is finally reopening its doors, as HBO's Deadwood movie is finally underway.
If you’re a fan of Deadwood, this is the news you never thought you’d actually read. Ever since the show was abruptly cancelled in 2006 HBO has been teasing plans for a Deadwood movie.
Proving almost impossible to finance, it looked like it was never going to happen. Now, finally, the cameras have started rolling and the Deadwood movie is officially underway.
Showrunner David Milch has written the script (which will probably be about 50% Shakespearian poetry and 50% swearing) and long-time series director Daniel Minahan is directing.
The series arguably had a great ending but it was definitely a bit abrupt – and there were still plenty of loose ends to tie up. The film will pick things up 10 years later, with anyone who left the town coming...

Probably one of the more overlooked Stephen King adaptations has got to be Tom McLoughlin’s Sometimes They Come Back which first aired on network TV in 1991. A film that I don’t think I fully appreciated until I got a little older (and much wiser), this revenge tale is centered around a troubled teacher (Tim Matheson) who is haunted by a gang of greasers who killed his brother and were obliterated in the attack as well, some 27 years after the tragedy. For Sometimes They Come Back, Matheson was joined onscreen by a talented ensemble featuring Brooke Adams (Invasion of the Body Snatchers ’78), Robert Rusler (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2), Nicholas Sadler (Twister), William Sanderson (Blade Runner), and Bentley Mitchum (Demonic Toys). Daily Dead recently spoke...
