Since 1998 Rybczynski has been a professor of experimental film at the
Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany.
(1994-1997) Worked in Berlin developing new technology for CFB-CENTRUM,
as well as preparing his own feature film projects.
He moved to the United States with his wife Wanda and son Pawel shortly
after winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film (Tango (1981)) in 1983.His wife Wanda died in 1997.
In 2012 he married filmmaker Dorota Zglobicka, since 2009 they have been working on their film projects.
Rybczynski's New York production company nurtured a number of future filmmakers: Paul Bachmann, Lisa Krueger, Louise Barlow, Rich Murray, Elizabeth Karlsen, Victoria Westhead, Nicholas Hoffman, Elisabeth Perrin, Alan Zdinak.
