Well, it looks like GLAAD is finally in the big leagues now. Its Media Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday was heavily attended and covered by the mainstream press pretty much like it was any other topline Hollywood awards ceremony (SAG Awards, Golden Globes, etc.) This year saw trophies going to Glee, Drew Barrymore, Ru Paul and others.
The event was hosted by Wilson Cruz and Candis Cayne and featured a number of special guests, including Constance McMillen, the Mississippi lesbian high schooler whose prom was canceled when she tried to bring her girlfriend. The teen (with a "NOH8" logo on her cheek) got a standing ovation when she appeared onstage to present Wanda Sykes with an award.
Given just how many major stars she rubbed elbows with at the GLAAD event, I'm guessing her high school classmates are green with envy. Who needs a prom when you've got...

I hope I’m not alone in my obsession for junky MTV “reality shows.” What’s not to love about Real World/Road Rules Challenge? Greedy, phony twenty-somethings with nothing else going for them in life but drinking heavily and taking steroids in order to win a crap-load of money.
Since there are usually a handful of out contestants, too, there’s plenty of gay drama to keep me satisfied, too.
The physical challenges are fun to watch and the women of past Real World and Road Rules casts are even more fun. Since over a decade ago, MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenges have pitted the aforementioned cohort of cast members against one another for an all out ovaries-to-the-wall battle, complete with backstabbing, betrayal and beautiful people hooking up.
On Sept. 30, MTV will debut its latest creation, The Ruins, which distinguishes the seasoned, surreptitious veterans from the green...

When The Real World: Brooklyn premieres on MTV tonight, viewers are likely to want to find out more about Sarah Rice.
The 22-year-old student from San Francisco looks different from most of the Real World housemates. Her tattoo-covered arms and dark black hair set her apart from many of the show's perky, blond female housemates primarily interested in partying and hooking up with their roommates. Rice does not seem interested in either.
In the past, Sarah has dated only women, and she is now in a monogamous relationship with a man. She doesn't define her sexuality, but knows that a lot of other people would like her to.
Putting your personal life on a show like The Real World does beg for some explanations, and sets up expectations of an on-camera romantic rendezvous. But despite any preconceived notions of the reality series, Rice said we can expect the cast this season to be diverse,...
