Beginning June 1, the show, which currently airs on Sundays at 10 pm, will move to Thursdays. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost for Megan Boone's Liz Keene, we have an exciting new update!
NBC has confirmed when the character will be back on the Friday night drama, and it's soon.
The Blacklist Season 8 Episode 14, titled “Misère,” brings Liz back to the forefront several months after her last appearance.
"In a retrospective look at key turning points, steps are retraced that lead Elizabeth Keen to align with a powerful enemy," reads the logline.
If you watch The Blacklist online, you know Liz last appeared back in January after a botched attempt at killing Red.
It's been a polarizing storyline amongst the fans, but might there be a big payoff in the end?
We're finally going to learn the nuts and bolts of what happened from the perspective of Liz.
Yes, the episode will be Liz-centric, and it makes sense when you consider that she's been Mia.

When “The Blacklist” airs its season seven finale on May 15, it’s going to look a little different.
NBC released a sneak peek at the half-live action, half graphic novel-style animated episode.
Titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” the 19th episode was halfway through filming in New York when television productions across the industry were halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. To make do with what they had left, the show’s producers decided to add the stylized animated scenes. Cast members recorded dialogue from their homes for those scenes, which were edited together by animators and editors also working remotely.

“The Blacklist” is the latest show to explore a creative solution to the coronavirus production shutdown.
The NBC series has announced that its upcoming season 7 finale, titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” will be part live-action, part comic book-style animation.
Episode 19 was midway through shooting in New York when the production shutdown began, according to sources, leading the producers to look for creative ways to end the season. The animation component will be added to incorporate with the already-filmed live-action scenes. Cast members, including leads James Spader and Megan Boone, recorded dialogue for the animated scenes from their homes, while editors and animators are carrying out their work remotely.
“The Blacklist” is the first show to take this hybrid approach, as others, such as “All Rise” on CBS, opted to shoot from-home episodes. NBC also aired a virtual “Parks and Recreation” reunion special which featured the original cast reprising their roles.

“The Blacklist” is spicing things up for its seventh-season finale by combining graphic novel-style animation with live-action footage to make up for the scenes that didn’t get to be shot before production shut down.

NBC has renewed “The Blacklist” for an eighth season.
The series stars James Spader as Raymond “Red” Reddington, one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marnò, and Hisham Tawfiq also star.
“Congratulations to our incredible cast, producers and crew, all of whom continue to reach excellence week in and week out,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue Red and Liz’s story into season eight.”

NBC has ordered an eighth season of The Blacklist, the second consecutive year the veteran drama has received an early renewal. This time, the pickup was tied to a celebration of The Blacklist‘s 150th episode with the cast and crew in New York this morning where the renewal announcement was just made by NBC executives. There are no current plans for Season 8 to be the show’s final season.
Additionally, NBC has set a return date for The Blacklist’s current seventh season, which will resume Friday, March 20 at 8 Pm with two back-to-back episodes.
The Blacklist pickup did not come out of the blue. In anticipation of a renewal, leading studio Sony Pictures Television over the past few months closed new deals with the original cast members whose contracts were coming to an end, including stars James Spader and Megan Boone, The show’s entire cast is set to return next season.

Exclusive: NBC has given an early Season 7 renewal to veteran thriller drama The Blacklist, from Davis Entertainment, Sony Pictures TV and Universal TV.
I hear the pickup had been in the works for awhile. Standard broadcast series’ cast contracts are for six years. While I hear The Blacklist star James Spader had renegotiated his deal early on, adding an extra year, the rest of the show’s original cast members’ contracts were up at the end of the current sixth season. I hear over the past several months, Sony TV inked new pacts with co-lead Megan Boone and the other two original series regular cast members Diego Klatenhoff and Harry Lennix. Securing the core cast paved the way to a Season 7 renewal.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers through the Season 5 finale of “The Blacklist.”)
Raymond Reddington is a liar, and Elizabeth Keen is going to prove it. In this new sneak peek from the two-part Season 6 premiere of “The Blacklist,” which is exclusive to TheWrap, Lizzie hits the ground running on that assignment.
In the 54-second clip, Liz (Megan Boone) and her sister Jennifer Reddington (guest star Fiona Dourif) are discussing their plans to secretly investigate the identity of the imposter (James Spader) who has been posing as their father, Raymond Reddington, for the last 30 years. (Right? That shock came at the end of Season 5.)

The riddle of Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) is the central question for NBC’s The Blacklist as it returns for Season 6 and the just-released trailer suggests that the master manipulator of the underworld may be behind bars for a while.
Season 6 kicks off with a two-part special that airs on back-to-back nights with a 10 pm episode on Jan. 3 and then a 9pm episode on Jan. 4. After Reddington’s arrest as a federal fugitive he’s headed both to court (giving Spader a Boston Legal revival moment: “Shouldn’t judges at least pretend to be impartial?”) and into federal custody (presenting at least the possibility that Red in Orange is the New Blacklist could be an episode title).
For Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) the identity mystery surrounding the man assumed to be her father has her questioning everything. Liz and Red engage in an uneasy cat-and-mouse game in which lines...

It came down to the wire but NBC just picked up a 22-episode sixth season of The Blacklist, from Sony Pictures TV. There is no final decision yet on the studio’s other bubble drama series, Timeless.
The Blacklist was a massive hit when it debuted in 2013 behind The Voice on Monday. It took a hit when the network in Season 2 relocated it to shore up Thursday night, using a post-Super Bowl airing to give it a pop. While The Blacklist never came close to the ratings heights of its first season on Monday, it has been a relatively consistent ratings performer, boosted by solid DVR gains.
In its new Wednesday 8 Pm slot this season, The Blacklist has averaged a 1.6 rating in 18-49 and 8.8 million viewers in L+7 to improve the time period by +19% in adults 18-49 vs. last year when recently renewed Blindspot aired there.

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 22: “Berlin Conclusion”
Written by Richard D’ovidio
Teleplay by John Eisendrath & Jon Bokenkamp & Lukas Reiter & J. R. Orci
Directed by Michael Watkins
Airs Monday nights at 10 pm Est on NBC
The Blacklist finale answers the one question audiences care about and because of that, many unhappy viewers can now sigh for relief. The conclusion of the Berlin story from last week opens with the aftermath of the plane crash. While the visuals aren’t impressive for the crash, the intercut interrogations demonstrate the intensity the show is well known for.
The scene that no doubt has people talking is the one involving Reddington disrobing after being shot. James Spader plays the scene with such guilt that you almost feel bad for Reddington even though he is a man after his own means. People should not be surprised when Reddington lies to Liz about whether her father is alive,...

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 20: “The Kingmaker”
Written by J. R. Orci & Lukas Reiter

Airs Monday nights at 10 pm Est on NBC
Last week The Blacklist gave audiences a file folder with evidence to prove Red Reddington was really someone Liz Keen should hate. This week the evidence in that folder is revealed and it, like the episode, is completely underwhelming.
My problem with this show is that it sets wonderful ideas up but fails to pay them off in a timely manner. The show sets up in the pilot that Tom Keen is a bad guy and they don’t pay off that idea until episode 15 or 16 of the season. Another plot thread that has been neglected is the one involving Red’s secret that the government is so afraid of. What is the problem with letting the audience in on what Red’s bargaining chip is?...

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 15: “The Judge”
Directed by Peter Werner
Written by Jonathon Shapiro and Lukas Reiter
Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC
The Blacklist is a show that manages, somehow, to have a lot going on throughout and still feel astoundingly empty. As with most things The Blacklist does, this in no way works to its benefit. More and more, it seems that the show has an abundance of style, but little in the way of substance. On the base level, this episode works, but it’s like drinking salt water: the initial satisfaction and thirst quenching eventually leads to physical sickness the longer time goes on. In the case of The Blacklist, “The Judge” satisfies, but the foundation of the episode crumbles the more that time and thought are weighted against it.

“The Judge” does some things right. In fact, that’s the point: things are done right,...

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 13: “The Cyprus Agency”
Written by Lukas Reiter
Directed by Michael Watkins
Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC
The most essential and important part of a television show is having characters that the viewer inherently cares about and whose interests or concerns they care about as much as the characters themselves do. Without that, the show becomes a house of cards that grows evermore unstable as time goes on. Sure, the story drives the episodes from one point to another, but emotional connections aren’t made with the story or, if they are, it’s to a much lesser degree. No connections are made with characters and The Blacklist has created a story that is adequate with characters that, outside of James Spader’s Red, are completely weak and as close to one-dimensional as it gets.
Continuing from last week’s episode, Red continues his...

The Blacklist, Season 1, Episode 10: “Anslo Garrick, Part 2″
Written by Lukas Reiter and J.R. Orci
Directed by Michael Watkins and Joe Carnahan
Airs Mondays at 10pm Et on NBC
“Anslo Garrick, Part 2″ picks up directly after its first part with Red (James Spader) forced between coming out of his box of protection or allowing his bodyguard, Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq), to be shot by Anslo Garrick (Ritchie Coster). A tough decision made even more difficult when Keen (Megan Boone) and tech wizard Aram (Amir Arason) are captured by Garrick and used as additional leverage to get Red to open the box. Once opened, Garrick takes Red but doesn’t kill him. Red has some questions to answer, asked, course, by a very dangerous person (Alan Alda).
This episode is a perfect example of how The Blacklist could lay it all out on the table, explaining a few of the show’s lingering secrets,...

The Blacklist Season 1, Episode 4 “Wujing”
Written by Lukas Reiter
Directed by Michael Watkins
Airs on Mondays at 10 Pm Et on NBC
“Wujing” attempts to to make the Arrow-esque concept of bringing down a list of bad guys a tad bit more interesting with Reddington (James Spader) being approached by an associate of the intelligence community’s urban legend Wujing (The Dark Knight‘s Chin Han) to decipher a CIA transmission that would allow the Chinese to identify an American spy and then take him out. Meanwhile, Keen (Megan Boone) takes a closer look at Tom (Ryan Eggold).
The Blacklist is a show that so often rides the border between mediocrity and being a quality hour of television that it’s enough to make someone bash their head repeatedly into the wall. In fact, it wouldn’t take much for The Blacklist to become actually good. Making the dialogue a...

The Firm
2012, USA
NBC Thursday 10Pm
Episode 1.01: “Pilot”
Directed by David Straiton
Written by Lukas Reiter, developed for television by Lukas Reiter, based on the novel The Firm by John Grisham.
With Prime Suspect regretfully cancelled, NBC has decided to fill the Thursday 10Pm slot with The Firm and gave us the two hour pilot on Sunday.
Given that Prime Suspect was my favourite new show and my second favourite show on broadcast TV after The Good Wife, The Firm has perhaps an unfair burden to carry. So, let’s not consider it in relation to other procedurals, let’s consider the show in relation to itself. In other words, what part of this shit sandwich that NBC fed us on Sunday is any good?
Well, the foundation of any sandwich is the bread and The Firm is based on a very strong novel by John Grisham – his most...

The small screen continuation of John Grisham's 1991 best seller "The Firm" premieres Sunday night (Jan. 8) on NBC. It picks up 10 years after the events of the book (and movie starring Tom Cruise) and Grisham says he wasn't initially excited about the concept of the show, until he read the script from creator Lukas Reiter.
" didn't really think about 'The Firm' as a TV show until Luke Reiter appeared on the scene and showed me a script," says Grisham. "When I read Luke's script a couple, three years ago I thought it was very good and kind of got excited about the idea of, you know, a weekly drama."
Grisham isn't involved in the everyday writing, but says that he has passed along big ideas about where the show might go. He also says he's loved what he's seen so far.
"It's very well done. It's very entertaining....

Josh Lucas is playing a character on NBC's new series "The Firm" that another actor -- Tom Cruise -- put his stamp on in the 1993 movie based on John Grisham's best-seller. Lucas acknowledges the oddness of the situation, and while he offers his own take on Mitch McDeere, he also wants to pay homage to Cruise's portrayal.
"It's sort of unique, because it's not like playing Hamlet. It's not like doing something that's inherently anything anyone wants to make it," Lucas tells Zap2it. "I go back to the fact that the source material is very strong and very clear" about who the character is.
The big picture, Lucas says, shows an ambitious man who came from modest circumstances and graduated at the top of his law school class, someone who "was always going to run the fastest, always going to work the hardest."

John Grisham's "The Film" and the subsequent Sydney Pollack film were viewed as a beach read and a consummate piece of popcorn entertainment and both were approached with only the most casual eye toward logic or accuracy. Somehow, though, the team behind NBC's new "10 years later..." series follow-up to "The Firm" arrived at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday (January 6) morning and faced a slew of logistical and narrative questions that boiled down to variations on the "What the heck sense does...mean?" Fortunately, series developer and executive producer Lukas Reiter was prepared to enter into...

Diane Haithman is contributing to Deadline’s TCA coverage. After a dismal fall, NBC is pinning its hopes for a ratings turnaround on a slew of midseason series. One of them is legal drama The Firm, based on the John Grisham bestseller, which the network acquired in the spring. The series, premiering Sunday, continues the story of attorney Mitchell McDeere a decade later. Writer-executive producer Lukas Reiter said that author Grisham was on board from the very beginning, liking the idea of doing a new chapter in the McDeere story. “He really didn’t (have reservations),” said Reiter, a former co-executive producer of NBC’s Law & Order. “I have been writing legal drama for most of my career, and The Firm has always been at the top of my list. Why didn’t John Grisham continue the story? I had a thought about how we might do that.” He added...
