While watching a studio production, she was asked by cameraman George J. Folsey to pose for a new lens he was trying. When director Edward Dillon saw the footage, he gave her the part of Adele in Sheltered Daughters (1921).
Worked as a continuity clerk at the Paramount Studios in Long Island before being discovered.
