He went to Paris where he was attracted to theater. He worked with
Comedie Francais beginning in 1951. He returned to Egypt, his homeland,
when he was 50, and participated in many Egyptian films.
Speaks fluent English and French.
Used to act in French plays during his stay in France.
Was a candidate for the role of "Khalid Safwan" in "El-Karnak" movie, but due to his strange accent which deprived him of the role so the role gone to the artist "Kamal El-Shenawy".
"Gamil Ratib" also worked in the Tunisian and French cinema next to his participation in the Egyptian cinema.
