Meg Stalter is taking the lead in her latest feature “Cora Bora.”
The comedy, which premiered at the 2023 SXSW Festival, stars the “Hacks” breakout actress as the titular musician who goes home to win back her girlfriend only to realize it’s much more than her love life that needs salvaging.
Hannah Pearl Utt directs the comedy from a script by Rhianon Jones. The cast includes Jojo T. Gibbs, Manny Jacinto, Ayden Mayeri, Thomas Mann, Chrissie Fit, Andre Hyland, Margaret Cho, Chelsea Peretti, and Darrell Hammond. The film features original music and a score composed by indie artist Miya Folick.
“I’m thrilled for audiences to get to see Meg in a leading role and to fall for her character the way I have,” director Utt said in a press statement.
The IndieWire review called Stalter a “whirlwind and a universe unto herself” who boasts “her unique brand of uncomfortably confident loser” onscreen.

Jason Sudeikis is in serious talks to play Irwin M. Fletcher (a.k.a. John Cocktolstoy, a.k.a. Dr. Rosenrosen, a.k.a. Arnold Babar) in Fletch Won, based on Gregory McDonald’s novels about a smooth-talking journalist. Chevy Chase starred in a hit 1985 comedy (as well as a less beloved 1989 sequel), but reviving the character has been a long and torturous ordeal. Now, Warner Bros., which acquired the rights to the character in 2011, has approved a script from the man who’s been guiding the project for more than 14 years: David List, a former literary agent, the late McDonald’s former manager,...

"House" broke some from its usual form Monday (Feb. 6) with an episode that introduced a formidable (and presumably one-time) adversary for House and examined what happens whether his way of doing things leads to good results or chaos.
The answer? Both. So if "Nobody's Fault" didn't really tell us anything we don't already know about Greg House and brand of mind games, it at least gave us a very well-acted, expertly directed (by exec producer Greg Yaitanes, helming his 30th episode of the series) examination of the question.
(Spoilers below.)
Oh, and it also left Chase -- the last original member of House's team working under him -- struggling to regain use of his legs after a patient's case goes about as wrong as it can possibly go without resulting in death.
As the disciplinary inquiry went on and we saw a couple rounds of questions from Dr. Walter Cofield (Jeffrey Wright,...

Given who Greg House is, it's no surprise that he didn't react well to all the changes at Princeton Plainsboro on Monday's (Oct. 10) "House."
But to the show's credit, it looks like House is going to have to deal with that for at least a little while longer. Foreman (Omar Epps) is now the dean of medicine at the hospital, Taub (Peter Jacobson), Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) and Chase (Jesse Spencer) are nowhere to be seen -- not even in the opening credits -- and Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) doesn't really want anything to do with his former friend.
For most of the episode, anyway. The case of the week involves a patient of Wilson's who's awaiting a lung transplant. House is called in to diagnose a problem with the donor lungs, and House uses that as a chance to wear down Wilson's resistance and prove for the millionth time that people don't really change.

Los Angeles — One of Michael Jackson's bodyguards had barely stepped into the singer's bedroom when he heard a scream. "Daddy!" Jackson's young daughter cried.
A few feet away, the singer lay motionless in his bed, eyes slightly open. His personal doctor, Conrad Murray, was trying to revive him when he saw that Jackson's eldest children were watching.
"Don't let them see their dad like this," Murray said, the first of many orders that bodyguard Alberto Alvarez testified Thursday that he heeded in the moments before paramedics arrived at Jackson's home in June 2009.
What happened next – after Alvarez said he ushered Jackson's eldest son and daughter from the room – is one of the key pieces of prosecutors' involuntary manslaughter case against Murray.
According to Alvarez, Murray scooped up vials of medicine from Jackson's nightstand and told the bodyguard to put them away. "He said, `Here, put these in a bag,...

Cincinnati -- Besides her careers as a singer-songwriter and actress, Mandy Moore has quietly carved out another role as spokeswoman for global humanitarian efforts such as clean water and fighting malaria, taking her to remote villages in African countries and, this week, to the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.
Part of a crop of teen female singing stars that rose a decade ago, Moore explained in an interview with the Associated Press that her work for such causes as helped keep her life in the entertainment world in context.
"It gives me balance and perspective," she said by telephone from New York. "It's sort of given me an understanding of the other side of my job - that it gives me the platform and reach that I can continue to spread the word on issues that I'm passionate about. They sort of go hand-in-hand.

Another week's gone by and that brings a new assortment of things to catch up with on DVD. From classic television to some SNL anthology re-issues. So take a look and find a few interesting tidbits to occupy your time this weekend.
Saturday Night Live: The Best of Eddie Murphy & The Best of Adam Sandler
Vintage Eddie Murphy is a lot of fun. He's quick-witted, vulgar, politically incorrect and a master impersonator. His skits like the: "James Brown Celebrity Hot Tub," "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood," and "Buh Weet Sings" are inventive and at times, laugh out loud funny. What is interesting about this particular collection, however, as well as the Adam Sandler best of collection is how it theyare both evidence of just how much times have changed.
"Mr. Robsinson's Neighborhood" is a parody of "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood," except he lives in a place with pictures coming off the walls and cracks in the ceiling.

Season 7 of House kicks off exactly where season 6 ended. Cuddy went to House’s apartment after he lost the patient and is about to start popping Vicodin again. She tells him she has just broken up with her fiancé and that she loves him. House kisses her and that’s exactly where the episode 7.01 – “Now What” starts.
They kiss and touch and it’s all very emotional. Cuddy takes his shirt off to disinfect his wound – after all he is still dirty from being trapped in a collapsed building all night. House protests when she takes off his pants because he doesn’t want her to see his damaged leg. She ignores him, kisses his thigh and tells him she loves him. That’s all it takes for him to pull her to her feet and into his arms for some serious, long overdue sex. After that’s taken care of,...

Chicago – Satire (“Glee”), family comedy (“The Middle”), animation (“The Cleveland Show”), a remake of a soap classic (“Melrose Place”), and three medical dramas (“Mercy,” “Trauma,” “Three Rivers”) - this Fall TV season attempts to offer something for everyone. New York -- Village Roadshow Pictures has successfully restructured a film production credit arrangement that had affected a co-production and co-financing deal with Time Warner's Warner Bros.
The restructure, led by existing bank partners Rabobank International and Jp Morgan Chase, includes a $900 million financing facility and the provision for an additional $350 million.
The new facility runs through late 2010, and the company has the option to tap into the additional $350 million.
The deal by a division of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group unit includes the permanent financing of the 2008 releases "Get Smart," "Nights in Rodanthe," "Yes Man" and "Gran Torino." Tw had previously said that Vrs' 50% share of the production costs for the four movies amounted to about $120 million.
Vrs' upcoming joint releases with Warners, which the new facility also covers, include "Where The Wild Things Are," a live-action adaptation of the children's book set to open in October, and "Sherlock Holmes" on Christmas Day.
