We may only have several home entertainment releases for this Tuesday, but as the saying goes, “quality over quantity,” because this bunch of Blu-rays and DVDs are a stellar lot of films. One of my favorite horror films of 2017, Mark Duplass’ Creep 2, makes its way home on November 28th courtesy of The Orchard, and Scream Factory has given Rob Reiner’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery the Collector’s Edition treatment (and deservedly so).
For you cult film fans, both Death Laid an Egg and Deathdream (aka Dead of Night) get the HD treatment this week, and other notable releases this Tuesday include M.F.A., Rememory, Super Dark Times, Woodshock, and Trailer Trauma 4: Television Trauma.

You know you’ve heard the name, but Mark Palansky has been largely under the radar for a good part of his career. This could be due to the fact at lot of his movies don’t tend to follow what is seen as conventional and even wise by other film makers. While it’s very acceptable that all directors have their own style and set of quirks that set them aside from the rest, it is sometimes wise to at least cater to the audience if not pander to them. After all the audience wants to be excited and even enchanted by

"Game of Thrones" has been really good for Peter Dinklage's career. The character actor had always been a standout but being on the biggest show on the planet has certainly elevated things just a little for his career.
Among all of the projects he has coming in the next while, one of the most interesting is definitely Rememory.
Written and directed by Mark Palansky (most notable for his charming modern fairytale Penelope), the movie stars Dinklage as an investigator who is hired by a widow, Julia Ormond, to investigate the murder of her husband, the man behind a new technology which allows individuals to re-live memories.
Along with Dinklage and Ormond, the movie also stars Henry Ian Cusick ("The 100") and features one of Anton Yelchin's final performances.

"The machine is incredible!" "Pure, unfiltered truth." Ready to remember all of your memories? Lionsgate has debuted the official trailer for an indie sci-fi film titled Rememory, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This is one of a few subtle indie sci-fi films that played at the festival, along with Marjorie Prime and The Discovery. The gimmick in this is a device that can extract, record and play a person's memories. The inventor is found dead, and his wife retreats into her home until a mysterious man shows up and begins investigating what exactly happened. Peter Dinklage stars, with Julia Ormond, Martin Donovan, Evelyne Brochu, Henry Ian Cusick, and the late Anton Yelchin. The film received pretty bad reviews out of Sundance, and while I am somewhat intrigued, this trailer doesn't really grab me. A great new trailer has been released for Peter Dinklage's upcoming film Rememory. It looks like a really good and thrilling sci-fi mystery! I'm a big fan of Dinklage and this looks like an awesome role for him. The movie also stars the late Anton Yelchin, along with Martin Donovan (Ant-Man, Insomnia), Julia Ormond (Mad Men, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost, The 100).
I didn't get a chance to see this movie when it premiered at Sundance earlier this year, but I heard good things about it. I'll definitely be checking it out when it's released! It looks like the kind of movie that I'd enjoy.
The film explores the ways in which our past defines the present. In Rememory, a visionary scientific pioneer (Donovan) is found dead shortly after unveiling his newest invention: a device able to extract, record and play a person’s memories.

In the new film “Rememory,” “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage plays a character who is “haunted by his past,” co-star Julia Ormond told TheWrap’s Matt Donnelly at the Sundance Film Festival. “He wants to try to find resolution through using an invention which is a machine that takes you back into accurate memory.” “He has a very painful memory from his recent past that he wants to unravel,” Dinklage said of his character. But to depict this memory-trapping invention, writer-director Mark Palansky teamed with Dinklage for a crowd-sourcing project to solicit the memories of real-life people to include in the.

From working with non-professionals to writing roles for specific actors to hiring a top casting director, there is no one way to find a great cast for an independent film. IndieWire checked in with the Dramatic Competition and Next directors of Sundance 2017 to find out their secrets.

Maybe it would take a scientist, too excited about his invention to be realistic about its uses, to believe that a device allowing perfect access to buried memories would best be used to reconnect users with their most painful ones. That agenda (more or less) gets inventor Gordon Dunn (Martin Donovan) killed in Mark Palansky's Rememory, a good-looking mystery whose sci-fi elements take a back seat to meditations on guilt and deception. Peter Dinklage delivers a soulful lead perf that will attract fans' attention, suggesting better (though still limited) commercial prospects than Palansky's only previous feature, 2006's Penelope, which went...

After actor Anton Yelchin passed away in June of last year, he left behind a substantial body of work as well as a handful of posthumous releases. He stars in two films that will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival — Cory Finley’s “Thoroughbred” and Mark Palansky’s “Rememory” — but he appears in another film to be released this April: “We Don’t Belong Here,” a family thriller about the dark secrets buried deep underneath dysfunction.

Later this week, Lrm will be attending this year’s Sundance Film Festival. While the festival tends to be a mixed bag of indie films, some will be picked up for distribution by studios and turned into mainstream hits, others will flounder and be lucky to get a VOD release. Even so, there’s no denying that Sundance is the real beginning of the year for most movie lovers as we’ll be talking about the movies below for the next 12 months.
Last year alone, Sundance held the premieres for The Birth of a Nation, Manchester by the Sea, Captain Fantastic, Love and Friendship, The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Sing Street and many more films, some that appeared on The Weekend Warrior’s year-end Top 25. One or two of those might even receive Oscar nominations when they’re announced next week on January 24.

Anton Yelchin passed away at the tragically young age of 27, at a time when many actors’ careers are just gathering momentum. But Yelchin had already amassed an impressive filmography that stretched back to his childhood, with an eclectic mixture of blockbusters, TV projects, and smaller efforts. “I’m just a huge supporter of this universe of filmmaking,” he told IndieWire in 2011. “It’s just fundamental. I can’t stress that enough.” Here, the IndieWire team shares their thoughts on why Yelchin stood out.
A Rare Screen Presence
Yelchin was the rare young actor to convey a plucky disposition while something gentler and melancholic lurked beneath the surface. As the energetic teen offspring of the troubled shrink on “Huff,” Yelchin was often the sole voice of reason in a sea of anxiety-riddled adults. While they grappled with middle-age, he was tasked with calling them on the pithy nature of their problems.

It’s time everybody should just quit pretending that they don’t know who Peter Dinklage is. Game of Thrones may have made him a global star but he was beloved by audiences prior to his career-making role as Tyrion Lannister.
Fresh from the news that he is going to be in X-Men: Days of Future Past, it’s emerged that he has been cast in Hop Frog, an adaptation of an Edgar Allen Poe story to be directed by Mike Palansky, whose most famous previous work is probably the fantasy romance Penelope (starring Christina Ricci).
The project has been in the works for a long time: this interview, from around the time of Penelope‘s release in 2006, has him directing two films with Peter Dinklage. One of these is Hop Frog, and the other is a “scientific love story” called Mendel‘s Dwarf. Mike Palansky’s IMDb page makes no mention of either film,...

Over time, the cast of "Game Of Thrones" are slowly conquering Hollywood. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been seen in "Mama" and "Oblivion" so far this year, Richard Madden just won the male lead in "Cinderella," Emilia Clarke is teaming up with James Franco, and Kit Harrington has the lead in Paul W.S Anderson's "Pompeii," among just a few of the cast of the show who are going from Westeros to the big screen. But after last night's episode, which as we said in our recap, had particularly memorable moments for Tyrion and Melisandre, it feels appropriate that this morning brings news that the actors who play them have just landed new movie roles. Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion, is currently filming his secret villain role in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," but after that, Screen Daily say he's lining up "Hop Frog," an adaptation of the story by Edgar Allan Poe.

It’s been a while since a Media Tidbits, so there is a lot to cover:
When reality enters into movies, studios are faced with difficult choices. The Trayvon Martin incident in Florida is focusing an uncomfortable light into 20th Century Fox’s upcoming July release, Neighborhood Watch. The film’s teaser, which the studios describe as “a broad alien-invasion comedy and bears absolutely no relation to the tragic events in Florida,” features stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade attack the block with intimidating stares while Hill makes finger-guns and later manhandles a hoodie-clad teen. This most striking parallel forced Fox to pull both the teaser posters and trailer from Florida altogether, noting they are “very sensitive to the Trayvon Martin case.” The studio announced they plan to move into the next phase of their marketing of the film, but intend to keep the July 27th release date,...

Sorry, movies. Right now we read Peter Dinklage's name and all we want is a new season of Game of Thrones to start that very second. Deadline reports, however, that the charismatic actor will be starring with Home Alone's Catherine O'Hara for writer/director Mark Palansky's Rememory. After a brilliant professor mysteriously dies, his wife (O'Hara) discovers a unique invention that her late husband was trying to introduce to the world. In case the film title didn't kind of give it away, the device records and plays memories. Dinklage plays an "unlikely friend" who assists in getting to the bottom of the bizarre and devastating events. We'd watch Dinklage watching paint dry, and the trio has already collaborated on 2006's Penelope — a...

Not many may remember writer/director Mark Palansky's debut feature, Penelope, as it received mixed reviews and an unimpressive box office. And it's a shame because Palansky's modern fairy tale was spirited, charming, and filled with wacky and wonderful performances. Thankfully, after six years Palansky is soon to mount his follow-up to the feisty fable with the help of two of Penelope's stellar supporting players. Deadline reports that Palansky has signed comedienne extraordinaire Catherine O.Hara and Golden Globe-winning Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage to front Rememory, a tale that centers on a mind-binding mystery. Penned by Mike Vukadinovich, the film begins with the unexpected and puzzling death of a professor the night before he was due to unveil his "life-changing invention." O'Hara will play his widow, who is left to make sense of the bizarre machine, while Dinklage will portray "an unlikely friend." Together the pair...
