- Popular dance band leader of the 1920's and 1930's. His biggest hit came in 1927 with "The Varsity Drag" and his theme song was "Beyond the Blue Horizon." In his later years, he retired from music to become a successful restaurateur. He died on his 78th birthday, March 18, 1971.
- In the 1931 Educational Pictures short "The Lure of Hollywood" a musical number is being filmed. The eight dancing chorus girls in the number are from the chorus of bandleader George Olsen's night club.
