This is Day 113 of the WGA strike and Day 40 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Martin Sheen led a reunion of the cast and crew of The West Wing and embodied his character President Bartlet at a major rally in LA.
Sheen was joined by stars such as Kerry Washington and Ron Perlman at the National Day of Solidarity Rally, organized by SAG-AFTRA, the WGA and the AFL-CIO outside of Disney in Burbank.
Sheen told the large crowd that he has been a member of the actors union since 1961, the same year that he got married, so he’s pretty fond of unions.
“I was affectionately known in some quarters as the acting president of the United States. When the show ended its run in 2006, I became known in some quarters as the former acting president of the United States and I’m proud to have been part of that extraordinary company,...

On December 9th, 2014 after seven seasons on the road, FX's "Sons of Anarchy" took its final ride. Show creator Kurt Sutter's series about a biker gang from Northern California follows Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), the heir apparent to the titular motorcycle club, and his manipulative mother Gemma Teller Morrow (Katey Sagal), the club's matriarch. After stumbling upon memoirs written by his late father, Jax begins to question the direction of Samcro (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original) and challenges the leadership of his stepfather Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), the club's current president.
Loosely based on Shakespeare's "Hamlet," much of the core drama centers on the struggle between Jax and Clay for the direction of the M.C. with manipulation behind the scenes from Gemma and Dr. Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff), Jax's eventual wife. "Sons of Anarchy'' has always prided itself on its authenticity, with most cast members...

In a roughly 45-second clip posted to Twitter, Netflix showcased art and animation from the series — titled “The Cuphead Show” — and lead actor Tru Valentino, who voices the titular animated teacup.
The “run and gun” style action video game “Cuphead” was developed by Canada-based Studio Mhdr in 2017 for PC and console. Mayans Mc Spoiler Alert – Do not read any further if you have not seen episode 2 “Escorpion/Dzec,” airing September 11. Tonight’s episode of FX’s Mayans Mc will completely underline the contentious nature of the Galindo cartel and its main players against their hired muscle, the Mayans Mc. The Galindo cartel has a long history with the California 1%ers and if Sons of Anarchy fans remember, Clay Morrow got into bed with them heavily doing side deals back in season four of Sons. But just who is the Galindo cartel and what is their importance in Kurt Sutter and Elgin […]

New York City – The actor side of Ron Perlman has made his mark in films/TV like the “Hellboy” series and “Sons of Anarchy.” But he has put on a producer’s cap for the new film “To Dust,” which features Matthew Broderick. The film made its Red Carpet premiere at the 17th Tribeca Film Festival on April 23rd, 2018.

“To Dust” is a fascinating study of death’s finality and strangeness. When a Hasidic cantor named Shmuel (Geza Rohrig) loses his beloved wife, he becomes obsessed with the nature of her decaying body (she was buried without embalming due to religious reasons). In order to move on, he decides – against his Jewish faith – to study the process, and enlists the aid of a community college...

Ask the average viewer to conjure up their idea of a TV villain, their answers might vary: Perhaps a spiked baseball bat-wielding maniac or a faceless Killer of the Week on a police procedural.
And then there are some villains that have existed in various forms on the small screen for decades: abstract ideas like alcoholism, technology, or ratings. As the line between reality and fiction start to blur and a non-stop entertainment news apparatus churns ever on, even people from off-screen within network power structures have frequently worn the black hat, from Ailes to Zucker.

The subconscious is a terrible place; dark, mysterious and peopled by spectres from the past. As a bit of a laugh then, we sent our writers journeying into theirs and asked them to drag out any TV terrors they found lurking in the shadows.
Some television fears had been ensconced there since childhood, others were more recent tenants. Some were morally terrifying; human beings with icy hearts capable of atrocities, others were simply… atrocities.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has added Hellboy's Ron Perlman to the cast.
Beast of the Apocalypse himself will be playing a goblin in the Harry Potter spinoff.
The Jk Rowling-penned screenplay stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the Wizarding World's best magizoologist, who in his travels has encountered and documented several magical creatures.
His discoveries lead him to ultimately pen Hogwarts School textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and Jenn Murray have also been cast.
After directing the final four Harry Potter films, David Yates is taking the helm and David Heyman will be producing.
Perlman has numerous film and TV roles to his name including new Amazon TV show Hand of God, Clay Morrow in Sons of Anarchy and has recently appeared in a couple of episodes of Blacklist.

Some will argue that Hellboy is Ron Perlman's best role ever, while others will know him best as Clay Morrow in Sons of Anarchy. This latest bit of casting news may top the lot, however, as Perlman has joined the cast of the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and word is, he's playing a goblin. Wait, what? THR got the exclusive on the news, stating that Ron Perlman has joined Warner Bros.' Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is currently in production in the U.K. THR's sources go on to say that the actor will play a goblin in the film. Perlman wouldn't be the first goblin to be featured on screen in the Harry Potter cinematic universe. Warwick Davis played the goblin Griphook in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Never in a million years would Hand of God‘s Judge Pernell Harris ride free or die alongside Sons of Anarchy‘s Clay Morrow.
But Ron Perlman, the actor responsible for bringing both characters to life, sees a little Samcro in Harris’ soul.
“I think they have a good deal in common,” Perlman says, settling back onto a couch at New York’s Bryant Park Hotel. We’re both there to talk about Hand of God, the Amazon series in which he plays a corrupt judge who has a powerful religious revelation following his son’s suicide attempt. But for a moment,...

Before Hand of God, Ron Perlman had never spoken in tongues. Then, his character, Judge Pernell Harris, had an religious epiphany, so the 65-year-old actor had to learn quickly. "There's no right way of doing it, there's no wrong way of doing it," says the actor, who looked up YouTube clips to see how those touched by the Spirit speak. "It's one of these things that comes out differently depending on who it's coming out of." The trick, he says, was figuring out how a tough-as-nails character like Harris would...

It sounds strange to say about a show I haven't watched regularly in two years — and barely at all in its final season — and stopped consistently enjoying long before that, but there was a time when I loved "Sons of Anarchy" about as much as anything on TV. Back in the day, Kurt Sutter's biker "Hamlet" was one of the shows I most enjoyed watching, writing about, and debating with critics and fans alike. In its second season in particular, it was one of the very best shows on television (on that year's Top 10 list, I had it only a couple of spots behind "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad") and every bit the Next Great FX Drama you would expect from Sutter, who apprenticed on "The Shield" and penned many of that show's most memorable (and/or disgusting) moments. In retrospect, that second season — pitting Samcro against a band...

I gave up on writing about Sons of Anarchy because, frankly, I felt I covered everything in my advance review. It was the same machinations, with once reasonably intelligent characters doing dumb things and following blindly in the footsteps of Jax Teller (whose reign at the head of the table is far more violent and vicious than anything Clay Morrow did, but another day for that one, huh?). But as the season’s gone on and gotten so bloated that I’m worried how long the actual finale will be (this episode, the 11th is the longest of the season at 72:56, slightly shorter than a film), I’ve slightly come around on this season. Slightly. It’s still a show that relies on machinations, poor plotting (even when it’s trying to be clever), and acting that varies wildly. It’s also damned ugly, look at the rape scene between Ron Tully and Juice,...

Even though principal photography has long since wrapped, and the movie is deep in post, one new addition to the cast of The Jesuit has just been announced. The news comes from Variety, who have learned that Sons Of Anarchy’s Ron Perlman was a late addition to the shoot.
The film is based on a script by Taxi Driver‘s Paul Schrader, who revealed his first impression of the finished product as “a badass exploitation film with a black soul and shoot-from-the-hip style.” Directed by Alfonso Pineda Ulloa, the movie centres around a wrongly incarcerated man whose ex-wife is murdered by her ex-boyfriend. That’s not the worst part: his son is also kidnapped. Busting out of the pen, The Jesuit embarks on a mission to find his son and take down the man who killed his ex.

Sons of Anarchy portrays the fictionalised world of an outlaw motorcycle club; although the plots are dramatic in the extreme, many of the details are firmly based in realism, including the costuming. Series creator Kurt Sutter has described it as pure soap opera, but this family drama has earned the tag of “Hamlet on Motorcycles”. It has been embraced by pop culture and by the biker community, and spurred an upsurge in sales of Harley Davidsons (and a $25k Soa branded bike).
Motorcycle club culture took off after WW2, when returning veterans with experience of riding bikes on service, and often undiagnosed post-traumatic stress, took to the lifestyle looking for the camaraderie and thrills their return from war had left them missing. The press quickly seized on the growth of these groups (top tip: don’t ever call an Mc a gang) and brewed some good old-fashioned hysteria about anti-social...

Boardwalk Empire recapper Seth Colter Walls is filling in for Joanna Robinson this week. Does a 63-minute episode make up for FX having kept us on tenterhooks during a one-week hiatus? If “You Are My Sunshine” feels not quite up to that rather large task, blame it on its next-to-last-episode positioning. Ditto the fact that the episode follows hard on the heels of one in which Clay Morrow met Mr. Mayhem. Still, the episode forwarded an impressive number of plots, with only a bit of timing-related cheating needed to keep all the climaxes in reserve for the finale next week. Here’s what we learned in the meantime. Gangster Outreach Is Hard, But Not ImpossibleAll season long, Chibs has been at pains to inform Jax that the Kings won’t cotton to doing business with August Marks, or any African-American gangster you could name. And yet, in this episode,...

‘Sons’ showrunner Kurt Sutter has always been as wild and unpredictable as the show itself, and he loves to interact with fans of the motorcycle opera for intimate Q&A’s. Find out what he had to say about Clay’s death, Jax and Tara’s relationship and even the death of ‘Family Guy”s Brian below.
Sons of Anarchy fans were shocked when Clay (Ron Perlman) was shot and killed by Jax (Charlie Hunnam) during the show’s Nov. 19 episode, and SoA boss Kurt Sutter took to Twitter for a long Q&A regarding that decision and the show’s future on Nov. 27.

5×01 – Sovereign
When Sons of Anarchy ended last season, I was a little disappointed. It’s not that I hated it; I was just left with the feeling of longing for more. All throughout the season, we’ve seen our men in Samcro crushed by seemingly impossible odds, without any chance for escape. If there’s one thing that Kurt Sutter and company do best, it’s dropping the men into a hole and watching them try and escape. And the best part of this is the more they try to escape, the worse their situation gets. That’s why it was a bit of a disappointment when at the end of the season, they seemingly pulled the plug and left things out to dry. I mean, Clay Morrow was built...

This review contains spoilers.
6.11 Aon Rud Pearsanta
"The king is dead, the light goes on. You'll lose your head when the deal goes down," prophetic words indeed from the theme song to Sons of Anarchy as after almost six full seasons, Clay Morrow finally met Mr. Mayhem. This is why making predictions about Sons of Anarchy is a useless endeavour. I was pretty bold in my statement last week in which I all but assured everybody that Clay was going to make it to the next season or at least the end of this one. Naturally, I was completely wrong and in a fitting end to the Clay Morrow saga he finally went down. I suppose Clay was living on borrowed time for...

Sons of Anarchy, Season 6: Episode 11 – “Aon Rud Persanta”
Written by Chris Collins and Kurt Sutter
Directed by Peter Weller
Airs Tuesday nights at 10 on FX
Nero calls it the Godfather dilemma: the more you try to distance yourself, the closer you get sucked in. Tara is extremely familiar with this concept as well. And as we leave “Aon Rud Persanta,” she is the focus. Is the bullet that she pulls out of Bobby something that she plans to use against the club to gain that distance? If so, will it work or will she become more immersed in what the Sons are trying to do with Charming? With one full season left after these next and final two episodes of the year, we know that the club isn’t going to be brought down quite yet (unless Sutter wants the final season to take place in jail, which, you know…...

If you caught tonight’s episode of Sons of Anarchy on FX, you witnessed the inevitable death of a major character. Fortunately, EW was on the set of the actor’s last day to snag an exclusive interview.
But first, a spoiler alert! Don’t read beyond the jump if you haven’t watched the gut-wrenching episode.
Clay Morrow may have deserved to die, but there probably isn’t a fan who was completely eager to see the big guy go — Ron Perlman was that good at playing the ruthless ex-president of Samcro. “As much as people say that they want Clay dead,...

Who else was absolutely blown away by last week’s Sons of Anarchy episode? (Pun intended.) If you aren’t up to date on your Sons then beware, Spoilers Ahead.
We all know The Ira is capable of violence, but last week’s episode took it to a new level. Blowing up Samcro’s clubhouse? This means war. Sutter is setting up this season for an all out bloodbath between the two groups, and frankly it’s about time. We haven’t actually seen the Sons in a serious war with anyone so far. There have been battles sure, and there have been major wars in the past that have been eluded to (we’re looking at you Mayans) but we have yet to witness a full blown war. It’s really one of the only things left that we haven’t seen Jax’s crew involved in. After 5 seasons,...

Sons Of Anarchy tones down the excitement this week but continues to set events and characters in motion for an eventful season to come...
This review contains spoilers.
6.2 One One Six
After last week's literally 'explosive' season premiere, Kurt Sutter continues to show us that the end game for Jax is indeed underway. Like in any great tragedy, Jax's hubris continues to rear its ugly head, illustrated by the brilliant advice he gives to Tara about how no jury would convict her because they would understand her becoming involved in a criminal conspiracy to commit murder to protect a gang of bikers because their husband is their most important member. Really Jax? Moreover, the lives of everyone around Jax continue to be tainted and destroyed. There is a great irony in this show in that Jax is always talking about protecting his family and...

One of the most satisfying things about old-fashioned storytelling -- basically from the campfire until the current postmodern age - was the way that stories embraced cause and effect. If a character did evil, he or she paid for it somehow. If a character did good, there would be a reward, either physical or psychological.
Things didn't always turn out just how perfect karma would dictate they would, but there was a sense that characters could never entirely escape the consequences of their actions.
For five seasons now, the outlaw motorcycle club of FX's drama "Sons of Anarchy" -- returning for its sixth and penultimate season on Tuesday, Sept. 10 -- has smuggled guns, sold drugs, murdered and been murdered, and dealt in both prostitution and pornography.
There have been major and minor consequences along the way, but this year, a horrific event beyond the club's direct control threatens the very underpinnings of its existence.

Where exactly does Ron Perlman's loyalty lie? The actor, also known as Clay Morrow on "Sons of Anarchy," knows what his favorite TV show is, and it's not the one he's on. When Jeff Daniels tweeted the news that "The Newsroom" had been renewed for a third season, Ron seemed particularly excited.
"Great news! No better show on TV," he writes. "Congrats to all!" The tweet was met with an immediate response from "Sons of Anarchy" fans, surprised and disappointed that he would point to a show other than his own as a favorite.
Perlman spoke to Zap2it at Comic-Con, explaining that Clay has become a very uncomfortable character for him to play, due to the changes he's gone through over the show's five seasons. "I feel like I've lost everything, as Ron the actor playing Clay," he said.

After struggling as a stand-up — maybe the only stage medium where the audience is free to yell terrible things at you if you're no good, they're inebriated or if they just feel like it — the world of trailers and catered meals that is film acting must seem like a cakewalk in comparison. So it's no surprise that some great stand-ups, including Robin Williams, Lily Tomlin and Jamie Foxx, have gone on to become great actors as well.
But sometimes, the guys and gals who started in stand-up end up better suited for other careers in the moviemaking business, catch their big break elsewhere and leave the damp basement stank of comedy clubs behind permanently. Here are seven actors you might not know made their hay — or at least tried to — by telling jokes before they hit the big screen.

When we next see Clay Morrow on Sons of Anarchy, he'll be separated from Samcro, but he will not be alone.
The former President will be faced with a choice: Turn on his club... or face sure death in general prison population at the hands of Damon Pope's crew members.
And the man offering Clay these options will be Donal Logue's Lee Toric, who plays a key role on the Sons of Anarchy Season 6 premiere, both in terms of dealing with Clay and in making Otto's life behind bars seriously miserable.
Watch a new FX promo for the drama now that features Toric in all his havoc-creating glory, along with fresh clips from various season 6 episodes:

Clay Morrow has gone from Samcro President... to estranged Samcro member... to framed murderer who will be behind bars on Sons of Anarchy Season 6.
Indeed, it's been quite a demotion for the character and, as a result, for star Ron Perlman.
In an interview with TV Fanatic at Comic-Con, the actor said Clay will be involved in the "C Story" when this drama returns on September 10, but he does have hope that Clay can be redeemed. And that's something he'd love to see take place. Watch now:

For other Soa scoop from Comic-Con:
Kurt Sutter wondered whether Jax can have it all. Kim Coates says Tig will be back on his leash... but mayhem is on the way.

In this interview, Ron Perlman discusses the tragedy of his character, Clay Morrow, going into Sons of Anarchy Season 6.
Clay is a “man without a family, a country, a possession,” says Perlman. In Season 6, Clay is “waiting to die.”
The actor took us inside the fragile psyche of Clay Morrow and let us know that it was “incredibly uncomfortable” to play him as a character over the past few seasons. Perlman also gives us some insight on the “5 million dollar” price tag that is out on Clay’s head when the series returns.

Following the announcement that came earlier this week, launching yet another hugely impressive line-up at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, the respective line-up has now been announced for what is in some ways its European counterpart, the 2013 Venice Film Festival.
The announcement shows that the two will continue to have a number of films overlapping, including Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (the Opening Night Film in Venice), Peter Landesman’s Parkland, Stephen Frears’ Philomena, and more. But it also brings with its news of where a number of films will be making their debut, including Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem; the latest film from Hayao Miyazaki, The Wind Rises; James Franco’s Child of God; Lee Sang-il’s Yurusarezaru Mono, the Japanese remake of Unforgiven; and Steven Knight’s Locke, led by Tom Hardy, and shot in one take.

With still several films not yet announced for the behemoth Toronto Int. Film Festival, it appears that 2013 will be a significant cross-over year for Venice titles (Joe, Night Moves, Parkland, Philomena, Tracks, Under the Skin) landing in the Canadian capitol and from the get-go, it appears that Toronto programmers have indeed stole some of the thunder from the Alberto Barbera’s Lido, specifically in the case where they grabbed world premiere rights to Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave with the Fox Searchlight folks possibly looking to keep the film on North American soil. However, for the time being that are titles that are worth salivating over that will be making their preems on the Lido – along with a grab bag of Euro and Asian titles we have the highly anticipated showings for Hayao Miyazaki’s Kaze Tachinu, Tsai Ming-liang’s Stray Dogs, Xavier Dolan’s Tom a la Ferme...
