Elderly, twinkle-eyed character actress in films from the mid-40s who
specialized in playing eccentric mountain folk.
Though she began in films in 1925, she did not pursue a full-time screen career until the mid-1940s, by which time she was in her sixties.
In her infamous cameo in "I Love Lucy", she is known as "Ruth Knickerbocker"- as she was assumed to be in the story line. As she reveals in the end scene, she is indeed Ruth Knickerbocker's mother-in-law. Her real name is never revealed.
