With nearly two years of worthy Blu ray releases under their belt, ranging from traditional favorites like To Sir With Love to rare essentials like Jack Clayton’s The Pumpkin Eater, it can be said that UK’s Indicator has finally shed their rookie status. Their newest effort is Hammer Volume Two: Criminal Intent, a well-programmed package of that studio’s little seen crime films featuring two minor classics and a couple of honorable misfires, all in glorious black and white.
The Snorkel
1958 – 74 Minutes
Written by Peter Myers and Jimmy Sangster
Produced by Michael Carreras
Directed by Guy Green
Featuring the sloppiest killer this side of the Coen Brothers and the least curious investigator since Chief Wiggum, 1961’s The Snorkel, with its urbane villain and Riviera scenery, is positively Hitchcockian in its intent but definitely not in its execution.

When you watch Mandy, you can’t help but feel it was a film ahead of its time. The story of a deaf girl unable to speak, the new Blu-ray is the perfect chance to watch the movie again.
When Mandy’s (Mandy Miller) parents discover that their child is deaf, they struggle to help her communicate not only with the outside world, but with themselves too. When Christine (Phyllis Calvert), the mother, decides to take Mandy to a school for deaf children, her husband’s reluctance to allow this puts a strain on their marriage.
What is impressive about Mandy is that it doesn’t over dramatise the story of a little girl trapped in her own little world,...

Rob counts down the top 50 episodes of TV's longest-running animated series, The Simpsons...
Since its debut in 1989, across 552 episodes and 25 seasons, The Simpsons has become one of the most revered and beloved TV programmes of all time. It’s a true cultural phenomenon that’s influenced not just animation, but all areas of TV comedy and sitcom. For so many of us, its quotes and catchphrases have permeated our everyday vernacular, from single words like “crisitunity” and “embiggen” to phrases “you don’t win friends with salad” and “everything’s coming up Milhouse.”
Personal opinions may vary, but for me the show’s peak years were from season 4 through to 10. They’re consistently funny, all killer and no filler runs with barely a dud episode to be found between 1992-1998. Past this point the standard becomes a little more mixed, and recent seasons have been distinctly average at best. The...

When it comes to performances in movies, it's usually the actors and actresses that are recognized rather than the inanimate objects that are featured in motion pictures. In order to rectify this oversight, we have decided to recognize the work of at least a few of those objects, beginning with the food seen in movies. Sometimes it's a good idea to leave something to the imagination. Other times it's better just to wear skin-tight latex.
This year saw a prodigious amount of characters wearing skin-tight outfits. From super heroes to super strippers, we’re turning to voters to decide which super form fitting costume was the best.

The Avengers was released on Blu-ray and DVD this week. It, of course, features the lethal Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff, who is one tough chick. Another tough chick who was new to Blu-ray and DVD only a few weeks ago is Katniss Everdeen, star of The Hunger Games. So what would happen if these two tough-as-nails ladies went up against each other in a cage? Well, they’d probably be able to make plenty of money via PPV, but who would win the match?

I am so sorry, but when a legitimate news outlet puts something in quotes in an interview I take it that is what the person said. So, when Mandy Hegarty of the Irish Film & Television Network quoted The Avengers cinematographer Seamus McGarvey saying, "On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer!" I find it to be interesting. Unfortunately, it's also not true and a complete misquote. Now you can actually go to the site and the entire quote has been removed. Yup, never happened. No "update" notice, nothing. Just removed. Nice work folks. Well, The Hollywood Reporter got in touch with McGarvey over the quote because, let's face it, shooting any part of a massive superhero tentpole on an iPhone is pretty big news, not to mention pretty cool. McGarvey had this to...

There's something for everyone in the new pics released for The Avengers. While there have been some spy pics and posters released, Marvel is finally giving us a look at some official stills from the upcoming flick.
For the fellas, the first pic shows Scarlett Johansson in the Black Widow's low-cut, skin-tight, black suit looking serene and unfazed as things explode behind her. For the ladies, there's a shot of Chris Evans' Steve Rogers contemplating his Captain America suit while we all get to contemplate Evans' posterior. Finally there's Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury looking like a general, all-around badass, and who doesn't want to see that?
Check out our Avengers photo gallery to see them all.

The third trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is 90 seconds of uninterrupted action. That isn't much of a surprise since the movie was made by the dream team of Steven Spielberg (directing) and Peter Jackson (producing).
As far as a synopsis goes, nothing much has been released yet. The official site for the movie only says that Tintin is an "intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure." Jamie Bell, who plays Tintin in the motion-capture animated flick, may have revealed why that is. When the young actor was asked in an interview with Movie Pilot if he could describe the movie in thirty second or so, he simply replied "No." It sounds like we can expect a pretty involved plot from what might look on the surface to be simply family-friendly holiday fare.

In The Tempest, one of the last plays William Shakespeare fully authored, the character of Prospero is a conundrum. For 12 years he's been marooned on an island with his young daughter, Miranda. Struggling to survive, he blackmails the spirit Ariel into being his servant and compels the mortal Caliban to be his slave. For reasons equally simple and complex, Prospero is hero and antihero, protagonist and antagonist. Perhaps it's those contradictions that make him the perfect role for Mandy Patinkin to play. For seven months Patinkin has enjoyed a luxury afforded very few actors: He's done little but prepare to play perplexing Prospero, in this case for Classic Stage Company's Off-Broadway production of The Tempest. For the first three months, he logged three to four hours a day, including Saturdays and Sundays, meeting with Shakespeare scholar Rachel Chavkin and analyzing each line of the play, "translating it into English,...
