When the Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday morning, July 12, it looked like it might have been a complete shut out for “Twin Peaks.” The Showtime revival was snubbed for Best Limited Series and Kyle MacLachlan was also missing from Best Movie/Mini Actor. But when the entire list was released it turned out the show had done pretty well for itself in behind-the-scenes categories. It picked up nine total bids including Best Movie/Mini Directing for David Lynch and Best Movie/Mini Writing for Lynch and Mark Frost. Could the show still win those categories despite its snub in top categories? Yes, because “The Hour” is at hand.

10. Waterworld
Directed by: Kevin Reynolds
It could be the flop of all flops. At the time, “Waterworld” was the most expensive film ever made. Starring Kevin Costner, “Waterworld” is a science-fiction/fantasy film taking place roughly 500 years after the polar ice caps melted in the beginning of the 21st century, effectively covering the entire world with water. Dirt has become a commodity and an unknown traveler named “the Mariner” (Costner) is trying to find anywhere to trade his stash. The catch: he’s a mutant, with gills, allowing him to breathe underwater. He is joined by a woman named Helen (Jeannie Tripplehorn) and child named Enola (Tina Majorino) with an elaborate map tattooed on her back. They sail the world and encounter various groups of survivors. They are pursued by a group of evil forces, led by an eye-patched man called “the Deacon” (Dennis Hopper). The special effects are actually pretty impressive,...

While promoting the trailer for "X-Men: Days of Future Past," director Bryan Singer decided to answer some fan questions. Most of those questions focused on the new "X-Men" movie, but one was more unique. Singer was asked to name actors he would cast if he was making "The Usual Suspects" today. He didn't have much time to think about it, but the director still provided a list. Check out his reply below. * Chris Hemsworth as Dean Keaton (originally Gabriel Byrne) * Dane DeHaan as Michael McManus (originally Stephen Baldwin) * Jonah Hill as Todd Hockney (originally Kevin Pollak) * Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Fenster (originally Benicio del Toro) * Edward James Olmos as Dave Kujan (originally Chazz Palmintari) * Jennifer Lawrence as Edie (originally Suzy Amis) * Michael Fassbender as Kobayashi (originally Pete Postlethwaite) * Benedict Cumberbatch as Verbal Kint (originally Kevin Spacey)...

For those who don't know, Film Independent at Lacma in California holds live script readings of popular films from the past hosted by director Jason Reitman. (Juno, Thank You for Smoking, Young Adult) However, this script readings don't round up the original cast of the film, but rather features completely different, and usually unlikely, actors bringing the roles to life. One such reading utilized Christopher McQuarrie's brilliant script for The Usual Suspects with a stellar cast, however, in a recent Twitter Q&A to hype today's release of the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer, director Bryan Singer was asked who he would cast in the film if it were made today. And his answers are pretty damn intriguing. First of all, here's the cast that was assembled for the live reading at Lacma: Kevin Pollak as Dean Keaton, originally Gabriel Byrne Michael C. Hall as Verbal Kint, originally...

A TV personality. A syrupy smooth voice on the radio. A long-running game show host.
And, of course, a winning smile to ring in the new year. Every year.
Few growing up in the last century didn't welcome 'America's oldest teenager' into their living rooms.
Dick Clark suffered a heart attack on Wednesday. And, after several attempts to resuscitate him, died in a Los Angeles hospital at the age of 82.
Clark's fame didn't come overnight. It began in 1945, as a mail room clerk at a New York radio station. From there, he made the improbable leap to weatherman. And onward to the station's news announcer. Moving onward and upward at a Philadelphia radio and TV station, Clark found himself a substitute host at an afternoon teen dance show called 'Grandstand'.
Well, you know where that ended up -- its name changed to 'American Bandstand,' Clark became its full-time host.

Lexx: The Complete Series
Stars: Brian Downey, Eva Habermann, Michael McManus, Jeffrey Hirschfield, Xenai Seeberg | Created by Paul Donovan
A cult hit known for its quirky, sexually charged adult storylines and ‘boldly’ talking sci-fi where others had not gone before, Lexx finally hits DVD in a complete series boxset from Mediumrare Entertainment.
Opening with four television movies, Lexx caused a huge splash on its initial airing on both sides of the pond, with Channel 5 (as it known at the time) scoring massive ratings for both the 4-movie mini-series and the three series that followed. Very much a product of the 90s, the series is set in a dystopian future and follows a rag-tag group of fugitives flying around in a giant dragonfly-looking spaceship, the Lexx of the title, which is, according to its creators, “the most powerful destructive force in the universe”.
Unlike many space-set sci-fi series of the...

Nicholas Courtney, best known as Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart on Doctor Who, died yesterday. He was 81. He had a long history with the show, appearing alongside the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh incarnations of the Doctor, as well as appearing in audio plays and in the spinoff series The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Fourth Doctor Tom Baker visited Courtney shortly before his death and shared his thoughts on his blog:
Nick Courtney died yesterday after a very long and painful battle with cancer. I went to say goodbye to him on Friday at the wonderful hospice near Belsize Park in North London. The lady in charge said he was very stoical. And indeed he was. It was so distressing to see him so weak and yet so strong in resignation. My jokes were received with a generous effort from Nick to smile. I was with Michael McManus who helped...
