From being involved in major IPs, including Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, the MCU, and Star Wars to helming on the director’s chair in three films, Andy Serkis has been a very busy man in Hollywood. Having marked his directorial debut with 2017’s Breathe, the acclaimed actor has gone on to direct two more features, one of them being 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
But the Black Panther star refused to return for the Venom threequel in order to bring another one of his projects to life, which was on the sidelines for over a decade following his packed schedule.

It’s a big year for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent comic book universe. The year started with Madame Web connecting them all – and this summer, we’ll see Aaron Taylor-Johnson make his debut as the title character of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter. And beyond that, there’s a third film to come from the ‘Spumc’ (as it was once known) in 2024 – Tom Hardy’s third outing as Venom. Now, some fresh details have emerged about what’s in store.
The film has received the official title Venom: The Last Dance – a title that indicates a possible trilogy-capping final chapter. Or, perhaps, a Magic Mike-esque bout of male stripping. Perhaps even both. The film – both written and directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote on Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage – also has a new release date, set to hit screens on 25 October. Sony has announced that Venom 3’s official title is Venom: The Last Dance, and has moved its US release date forward from November to October 2024.
The third and final film in Sony’s unholy trinity of Spider-Man adjacent releases for 2024, Venom 3 has now been given an official title – Venom: The Last Dance. Its US release date has also been moved forward a touch – from its original 8th November slot to 25th October. And that’s it. Bye!
Wait, you want more? Sigh.
As the new title implies, Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Tom Hardy’s final outing as the titular anti-hero, also known as Eddie Brock. British screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two films – 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage – will also direct as well as produce this time round, making it quite an auteur project.

While Sony’s Spider-Verse movies Madame Web and Morbius both laid eggs at the box office (to put it mildly), another live-action franchise from the studio has been minting money – the Venom films. Despite pretty awful reviews, the first movie made $856 million worldwide. The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, only made just over $500 million (still a lot of moolah), but that was due to opening during the pandemic (it was actually the third highest-grossing movie of the year). With the third film pretty much guaranteed to make money no matter how it fares with critics, Sony is moving it up slightly on the release calendar, with it now set for October 25th, 2024. The movie also has a new title, Venom: The Last Dance.
This pre-Halloween weekend propelled Five Nights at Freddy’s to a huge opening, and Sony is no doubt hoping to score with horror audiences as well as superhero fans.

Sony on Tuesday said its third movie in the Venom franchise now has a name and a new release date: It’s called Venom: The Last Dance, and it’s now opening October 25 this year, not November 8.
The threequel will screen in Imax and on PLFs.
Kelly Marcel directs Tom Hardy, who plays the black widow creature for a third time. Marcel also wrote the screenplay with a story she co-penned with Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Hutch Parker, Marcel and Hardy are producing.
Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor also star.
Venom 3 moves away from 20th Century Studios’ The Amateur and lands on the same theatrical release date as Universal/Blumhouse’s The Wolfman and Cinedigm’s Terrifier 3.
All in, the previous two Venom movies have grossed $1.36 billion at the global box office.

Nearly a decade after its initial release, "Mad Max: Fury Road" remains a miracle of filmmaking. On paper, nothing about this movie should work. It's a new entry in a decades-old movie series with a brand new cast (after its previous star turned out to be a horrible person), with a blend of CG and practical stunts that could have easily killed half the cast yet somehow didn't, and a story told mostly via visuals rather than dialogue or quips.
It is also a movie that faced countless issues before, during, and even after production, from changes in studios to big casting changes, wars, and more — like fate was determined to keep it from getting made. One of the big challenges throughout production was the weather. The main shooting location changed from New South Wales to the Namibian desert after an unexpectedly heavy rainfall turned the original location from a...

Venom 3 has reportedly completed its filming and is heading in the right direction for its planned theatrical release by the end of this year. Andrew Garfield fans cannot forgive Sony for not giving him a deserved trilogy, while Tom Hardy’s villain is getting his sweet three films. Many fans also complained about Sony making a Spider-Man villain trilogy without the central superhero appearing in the films.

Kelly Marcel, who wrote the screenplay for the first two films, serves as the director of Venom 3. While the first two Venom movies were profitable, the fate of the third film hangs in the balance due to the studio’s current reputation.

Rescued singularly by Tom Hardy and his utter commitment to his titular character of an alien symbiote with an attitude issue, Venom blew at the box office. But the sequel, directed by Andy Serkis, turned out to be the least passable spin on the buddy comedy. Right from the second installment, the Venom franchise gradually started degrading.
Tom Hardy in Venom (2018)
Being a part of the extended Spider-Man Universe, Tom Hardy’s Venom movies were supposed to have a larger fanbase, but unfortunately, they failed to make an impact. Juno Temple recently spilled the beans on ‘Venom 3’, revealing that the film is almost done shooting. She chatted with Variety at the 2024 SAG Awards and couldn’t hide her excitement. Clark Backo, best known for “The Changeling” and “Letterkenny,” has joined the cast of Sony and Marvel’s “Venom 3.”
The Tom Hardy-starring threequel, which is set to hit theaters on Nov. 8, also features Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor in undisclosed roles. Similarly, character details for Backo are being kept under wraps.
Kelly Marcel helms the antihero movie in her feature directorial debut, and wrote the screenplay from a story she developed with Hardy. The duo, who also developed the first two “Venom” installments, return to produce the film alongside Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker.
Reps for Sony and Backo did not immediately respond to request for comment on her casting.
Backo most recently starred opposite Lakeith Stanfield on Apple TV+ limited series “The Changeling,” paying Emma, wife to Stanfield’s Apollo and a new mom who is suffering emotionally and vanishes without a trace.

Tom Hardy will read Julia Donaldson and Victoria Sandøy’s The Oak Tree on CBeebies Bedtime Story tonight.
When Tom Hardy first joined the CBeebies Bedtime Stories, the internet went into a frenzy. Sure, the kids loved listening to the Venom actor read stories, but I’m willing to bed a lot of adults tuned in too, sans kids. I know I did.
Well, Hardy is back for some more children’s stories. The actor will be gracing our screens tonight, 1st December, and will be reading Julia Donaldson and Victoria Sandøy’s The Oak Tree to celebrate National Tree Week. Kelly Marcel, who believes in signs from the universe and sees magic everywhere, was at home with her six-month-old baby when “The Changeling” appeared at the door.
“The book landed, I read it, and I was horrified,” the showrunner said, laughing as she recalled her overly intense introduction to Victor Lavalle’s dark fantasy novel from 2017.
“I was at home with a new baby, and I was experiencing all of that crazy stuff that you go through as a new mom, whilst reading this horrifying book about parenting! Ultimately, it’s very hopeful and incredibly beautiful, but it was also scary and felt very real to me as well.”

A third film in the Marvel Comics-inspired Venom franchise started filming back in June, and at that time Sony Pictures was aiming to get Venom 3 into theatres sometime in October of 2024. Production had to come to a halt when the Screen Actors Guild went on strike in July – but Sony was obviously confident that the strike was going to be wrapped up quickly when they announced that same month that they had moved Venom 3 up to a July release. But the strike only came to an end last night, and as Venom 3 gears up to head back into production, Deadline reports that Sony now has it scheduled to reach theatres on November 8, 2024.
November 8, 2024 is a date Sony always had reserved for one of their Marvel-inspired properties… they just didn’t expect Venom 3 to be the film that would land on that date.

The highly anticipated third installment in the Venom superhero franchise will no longer be hitting the big screen next summer.
The untitled Sony and Marvel film was initially set to be released in theaters July 12, 2024, but has been pushed back to Nov. 8, 2024, Sony announced Wednesday night.
The shift came just hours after SAG-AFTRA and studios and streamers reached a tentative deal over a new three-year contract following the 118-day actors strike.
Production had begun on the Venom sequel in late June in Spain, but it was among films that were halted the following month due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which started July 14. Pushing the release date to November and giving the film more time to finish shooting and complete postproduction work provides a certain amount of cushion. Also, Sony has secured a berth in Imax and premium-format screens.

“Venom” will be returning to do horrible things to bad guys a little bit later than originally planned. Following the end of the actors’ strike on Wednesday, Sony announced that the film is going back into production and will now come out Nov. 8, 2024, 4 months after its original July release date.
The film series is based on characters — sentient alien parasites called “Symbiotes” — that debuted in various “Spider-Man” comics. “Venom” and its sequels is part of what the study has been called “Sony’s Spider-Man Universe,” featuring characters and concepts that were included when Sony bought the rights to the Marvel Comics webslinger. Unlike Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man, they’re not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though “Venom” star Tom Hardy made a cameo in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

The much-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video game recently made its debut on Playstation 5 to great acclaim. The new open-world superhero game premiered with an 8/10 score on IGN.com and a 90 Metascore on Metacritic with a 9.0 user score. The big draw in the sequel to the hit game Marvel’s Spider-Man and its continuation, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, is that Peter Parker gets an upgrade in powers thanks to the alien symbiote. The same symbiote is destined to create Venom out of Eddie Brock. The Venom character is voiced by the Candyman himself, Tony Todd.
From one Venom to another, Tom Hardy took to his Instagram to give a little shout-out to the man who is lending his menacing pipes to the Spider-Man rogue. Hardy, who portrays Eddie Brock in the Venom movies as well as having his voice altered to be the alien alter-ego, posted a picture...

Directors of the Apple TV+ supernatural series The Changeling, Jonathan Van Tulleken and Michael Francis Williams, spoke about how they created tension between characters in their new exclusive interview.
Van Tulleken explained how his first step in creating this tension is by “looking at the script.”
He poses questions to himself about the language like, “Whose point of view is it? You know how do you draw the audience into sort of this subjective dreamlike experience?”
Williams added, “It’s trying to bridge the gap between the audience and what we see on the page of the script.”
Actors can do this by using visual tricks to make viewers feel their tension.
Specifically in The Changeling, they noted that there are a lot of elements at play like, “magic realism and horror and suspense” that were helpful for the directors to use.
Williams explained how he was able to do this in his episode.

[This story contains spoilers for the season finale of The Changeling.]
The Changeling showrunner Kelly Marcel, and author and executive producer Victor Lavalle, say last Friday’s season finale was never designed to be an ending for the adaptation. But, they did want viewers to come away from the Apple TV+ series’ first season with a “what the fuck” feeling.
The duo, who appeared on a Saturday panel for the show at New York Comic Con, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the season finale, which saw Apollo (Lakeith Stanfield) and Cal (Jane Kaczmarek) — the leader of a band of women who have had their babies stolen by a Norwegian male-led cult called the Kinder Garten — joining forces against a cult member named William (Samuel T. Herring) and a giant, destructive “Fairy.”
Apollo escapes on a boat towards “the only forest in New York City,” just like his wife Emma (Clark Backo). But before he goes, Cal promises Apollo...

Spoiler Alert: This contains spoilers from “The Changeling”, now streaming on AppleTV+
“The Changeling’s” latest episode steps back in time to New York — in 1982, to be precise.
For production designer Lester Cohen, he needed to find a place where he could build his red-light area and seedy hotel.
The episode begins with Lillian (Adina Porter) walking through the red-light district in New York where peep shows cost 25 cents. She is still trying to get hold of Apollo (Lakeith Stanfield), leaving him messages. It has been three weeks since he went missing. She enters the Elk Hotel, a seedy joint. Narrator Victor Lavalle, who also penned the book of the same name, describes it as “the shittiest hotel in the world.”
As it turns out, the hotel is 100 years old. The lobby decor is just as seedy — red and rancid. An old TV with the news is on when she...

[This story contains spoilers from episode seven of The Changeling.]
In “Stormy Weather,” the penultimate episode of The Changeling, all the flashbacks of Apollo’s (Lakeith Stanfield) childhood and the early days of his mother’s relationship with his father Brian (Jared Abrahamson) that have been sprinkled throughout the season bring viewers to the Elk Hotel in Times Square, a seedy location steeped in even darker memories. It’s there that Lillian Kagwa (Adina Porter) recounts the deal she made decades prior, which sets in motion the turmoil her son is now enduring as a father.
Through a series of monologues, a vocal performance and musings on faith, motherhood and identity that unfold like a secret stage play only select audiences have privy to, Lillian reveals the totality of the incident that forced her to emigrate from Uganda to the United States, and the chilling threats Brian nearly made good on one day that forced her to kill...
