- Major Malayalam actor and director of the 60s and 70s. Graduated from Benares Hindu University and later took a diploma in acting from the National School of Drama. He often played the sad and suffering lover. He gained major acclaim after Chemmeen (1965) which established him as a character actor. After that he acted regularly in independent productions. - Owner of the renowned Uma studio. Also founded the extremely successful Saraswathi Vidyalaya school, in Trivandrum, to educate college students.
- Probably best known for his performance as "Pareekkutty" in the film Chemmeen (1965). His lines from that film are often quoted, particularly by mimicry artists.
- Was an English College lecturer prior to becoming an actor in the Malayalam Cinema in the sixties. He joined the National school of Drama in order to learn acting.
- While his real name is Madhavan Nair, actor Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair, a fellow actor, decided to give him a new, shorter name: from then onwards he become known as simply "Madhu".
