Exclusive: Channel 4 has renewed Celebrity Cooking School for a second season for youth portfolio channel E4.
Sony Pictures Television (Spt) and Motion Content Group’s format, in which celebrity non-chefs are pitted against each other overseen by a professional, will enter production later this year and greenlight announcement is imminent, Deadline understands.
The first season was overseen by Michelin starred chef Giorgio Locatelli and saw the likes of Kerry Katona, Melvin Odoom and Shaun Ryder take part. One celebrity was knocked out every week and the winner was First Dates star Laura Tott. Season two celebrities will be revealed shortly.
Former Sony-backed indie Electric Ray developed the format but has since been absorbed by Spt, which is now producing its shows.
Celebrity Cooking School is reflective of E4 controller Karl Warner’s desire to order more factual-entertainment formats following a good year for the likes of Married At First Sight...

Chargrilled mackerel, salads, squid: favourite seasonal recipes from the finest chefs
• Free with the Observer on Sunday 4 August: 20 best summer dessert recipes
Giorgio Locatelli's chargrilled mackerel with herb crust
Mackerel is a fantastic but underrated fish, which is brilliant cooked inside a crispy herb crust that protects the fish, keeping it moist and trapping in all the delicate flavours. You can do this with mackerel fillets, too, in the same way, but leave out the stuffing and cook the fillets, skin side first, for 2-3 minutes, depending on the thickness, then turn over for a further 2-3 minutes.
Serves 4
tomatoes 4, diced
olive oil 100ml
white onions 4, cut into about 2cm dice
white wine vinegar 3 tbsp
salted capers (preferably baby ones) 4 tbsp, rinsed
medium-sized mackerel 4, gutted
rosemary 4 sprigs
garlic 4 cloves
mixed salad leaves 4 handfuls
Giorgio's vinaigrette 4 tbsp (see below)
For the herb crust
parsley a small bunch, picked
rosemary a small bunch,...

Kate Winslet and Gwen Stefani helped launch chef Giorgio Locatelli's new book, Made in Sicily, at the Locanda Locatelli restaurant in London this evening. Gwen, who celebrated a relatively low-key 42nd birthday yesterday, rocked a high-volume blowout as she and Kate posed for pictures with Giorgio and his wife. Kate was equally glammed up in a black minidress and jacket for the evening. The recent Emmy-winning actress made her way back to England following two appearances in Shanghai last week. Kate is a Longines "ambassador of elegance," and was in China to promote the watch company's wares. She's also in the midst of promoting Contagion, which is rolling out to international theaters. Kate is on the cover of Harper's Bazaar UK's November issue and spoke candidly about her divorce from Sam Mendes in the pages of the magazine, saying she refuses to speak negatively about him and that the...

Actress Kate Winslet lashed out at a stranger who tried to photograph her eating on Friday night. Winslett attended the opening of new restaurant Locatelli in west London and was outraged when a fellow guest tried to snap her tasting some pasta. Kate was seen screaming, "I didn't say you could take my picture. How dare you." The camera-holding guest replied that it was a public party, while the eaterie's owner and chef Giorgio Locatelli stepped in to clam things down, before Kate demanded the woman leave. A partygoer says, "Kate was incandescent with rage. Everybody thought she had completely overreacted. Kate just started screaming at this woman that she shouldn't take her picture. She tried to explain that she was only a fan and wasn't trying to sell it, but that wasn't good enough. The poor woman left 10 minutes later in a bit of a state."...
