Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis is getting into a new ring: Unscripted TV. Lennox and executive producer Eric Van Wagenen are developing a boxing-related competition that “aims to bring boxing back to its roots as fighters from across the country are highlighted in a tournament style.”
The unscripted project is the first to come out of a new strategic partnership announced by Paul Telegdy’s The Whole Spiel shingle and management house 3Point0 Labs, led by Marquel Martin. “Lennox Lewis is a titan of the boxing world,” Telegdy said. “We couldn’t be more excited to be in business with him and have him at the helm of our first project.”
Lewis was a contestant in 2008 on “The Apprentice,” where Van Wagenen was an EP. Van Wagenen’s TV boxing credits also include “The Contender.”

There is a new undisputed and undefeated heavyweight champion of the world.
Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk joined Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Floyd Patterson as the only undisputed champions by winning a split decision over Tyson Fury. The fight took place at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The previously undefeated Fury was convinced he won the fight. But the scorecards favored Usyk.
“I believe I won that fight,” Fury said to Dazn.“I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them. … We all put on a good fight, best we could do. And, you know, his country is at war, so people are siding with someone with a country at war. But make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion, and I’ll be back.”
Fury and Usyk reportedly have a rematch clause in their contract.

Verdi Productions, run by Chad A. Verdi, Paul Luba, Chad Verdi, Jr.

Mills Lane, the flinty boxer turned referee who became a judge in Washoe County, Nv before segueing to his own courtroom TV show, has died. His son Tommy Lane confirmed the news to the Reno Gazette Journal. The boxing hall of famer was 85.
A familiar face to boxing fans not just for his presence but also for his pre-fight catchphrase “Let’s get it on!”, Lane reached the peak of his popularity after being the third man in the ring for the 1997 heavyweight title fight between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield in which Tyson bit part of Holyfield’s ear off. The diminutive Lane — who himself fought at 147 pounds — was the one who pried the two apart and, his own shirt stained with Holyfield’s blood, later disqualified Tyson.

Plot: Mike is an unauthorized and no-holds-barred look at the life of Mike Tyson – and it is one wild ride. The 8-episode limited series explores the tumultuous ups and downs of Tyson’s boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again. Focusing the lens on Mike Tyson, the series examines class in America, race in America, fame and the power of media, misogyny, the wealth divide, the promise of the American Dream and ultimately our own role in shaping Mike’s story.
Review: Mike Tyson is a divisive and controversial figure in pop culture. For sports fans, he remains one of the most exciting and talented boxers to ever wear the heavyweight championship belt. It has been recorded in previous Drag Race reviews how I believe that a musical challenge on the opening episode is the perfect way to open any season! On regular seasons of Drag Race, these lyric writing challenges give the queens an opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience which is especially important for early eliminations. For the first episode of all winners Drag Race All-Stars, the queens had to write, record and perform an original verse to Ru Paul’s song “Legends” that matched the prestige of the extremely successful queens involved. This song was the perfect opportunity for the queens to reintroduce themselves to the viewers (as one of them competed just over twelve years ago) but also allowed them to inject their performance with bucket loads of personality that reminds everyone why they won their original seasons! The track itself is available on Spotify and has been...

Since the earliest days of hip-hop supremacy, rappers have likened themselves to legends–whether on the mic, in the streets, or even between the sheets. Braggadocio has always been part of Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA’s modus operandi, from his earliest underground recordings right up to today. Now he sells out sports arenas and cultivates lucrative brand partnerships, making good on those outsize boasts.
With Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren, his third solo album and first since the less-than-godlike Ozuna team-up Los Dioses, Anuel turns to another field where self-reliant boldness pays out big: sports.

Donald Trump To Provide Boxing Commentary For Triller’s Evander Holyfield-Vitor Belfort Bout On 9/11
Donald Trump has long fancied himself a boxing expert.
In the ’90s, he put on the Mike Tyson-Michael Spinks bout at his Atlantic City casino. As the 45th President of the United States, he pardoned heavyweight champion Jack Johnson in an Oval Office ceremony attended by Lennox Lewis, Deontay Wilder and Sylvester Stallone. He also claimed to have won $20 million betting on Evander Holyfield when he upset Mike Tyson in 1996, though no sports book could ever confirm Trump placed such a bet.
That last story may surface again on Saturday, when the former president will “provide guest commentary” for the heavyweight boxing match between former champion Holyfield, 58, and former UFC champ Vitor Belfort, 44. The bout is set for Saturday, September 11 at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. It’s promoted by Triller, the social media platform co-owned by former Relativity Media boss Ryan Kavanaugh.

The weekend is almost upon as, and as the theatrical schedule remains a barren wasteland until at least the beginning of next year, the weekly onslaught of new VOD releases have arrived to try and entice folks who’ve run out of things to watch on the various streaming services at their disposal that they haven’t seen a handful of times already.
There are a whopping 30 titles flooding the market this weekend, but the bad news is that none of them are what would exactly be called appointment viewing. Pick of the bunch is arguably The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, which sees Francis Ford Coppola return to the closing chapter of his sprawling crime saga and deliver a brand new edit. The early reactions are that he’s greatly improved the original cut, but still not enough to see it enter the rarefied air of the first two installments,...

Dr Dre narrates as friends and nemeses appear before camera to shed light on the life of boxing’s most anodyne superstar
If there’s one world heavyweight champion whose legend needs a little burnishing, it’s Lennox Lewis, and this documentary profile does a decent nuts-and-bolts job. It’s very much the authorised version, with Lewis, his wife, various sidemen, and longtime friend/antagonist Mike Tyson getting in front of the camera to say what a great guy Lewis is, and Dr Dre providing a supercharged voiceover narration.
Perhaps it’s true that Lewis has been hampered by his lack of an especially colourful personality; being neither a shameless lawbreaker nor a press-conference shouter, he tends to come over as rather anodyne. You can’t say by the end of this you are hanging on Lewis’s every word, but the film-makers take care to shoehorn in a couple of respectable chatshow gags,...

President Donald Trump, Sylvester Stallone standing by his side, today gave a full pardon, posthumously, to Jack Johnson, the country’s first black heavyweight boxing champion, In 1913, at the height of the Jim Crow era, an all-white jury convicted Johnson under the Mann Act of transporting a white woman with whom he was involved in a relationship across state lines.
Stallone, as well as Sen. John McCain, and Ken Burns were among those who had advocated for a pardon for Johnson, who died in 1946 and whose conviction became a prominent story of racism in the judicial system. He served 10 months in prison.
Johnson was the heavyweight champion of the world from 1908-15. Burns documented the fighter’s life in Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson. The docu aired on PBS in 2005.
Johnson’s 1910 “Fight of the Century” against James J. Jeffries inspired the play-turned-movie The Great White Hope.

Ali's nine children, his wife, two of his ex-wives and other family members joined the

Tyson Fury wants to join the WWE, Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio.
The controversial boxing World Heavyweight Champion has said in the past that he’d like to have a run with pro wrestling’s leading company, telling The Sports Bible earlier this year that “I might make a debut in WWE, don’t rule that out.”
He’d certainly fit in with Vince McMahon’s circus. He’s infamous for having a colourful character, and his near seven foot height is the ideal look for WWE. McMahon would no doubt see money in the heavyweight physicality and fiery personality.
Fury has also teased the idea of fighting Ufc’s Cain Velasquez, but any serious talk of Mma or WWE is limited. The 27 year old is only just hitting his peak in boxing, having recently defeated the legendary Wladimir Klitschko for the Wba (Super), Ibf,...

"Sugar" Shane Mosley and Ricardo Mayorga just got put over the Wbc's knee and given a metaphorical spanking for that ass-slap during their pre-fight news conference. The World Boxing Council called out both fighters for what it calls an "embarrassing fight simulation." While most fans took Mayorga tapping the butt of Mosley's Gf for what it was -- great publicity -- the Wbc feels it could have been dangerous. In short, it says just because...

Hollywood has had a long love affair with the heist sub-genre. Dating as far back as the silent film era with 1928’s Alias Jimmy Valentine, and transcending various genres like westerns (The War Wagon), war (Kelly’s Heroes) and even animation (Toy Story 3), the heist has tantalized our fantasies and outsmarted our wits for decades. Whether it’s for the very last time before retirement, gathering the gang back together for a big payday or for the thrill of pulling off the perfect robbery, all heist films share one key element: commitment to a plan.

Things just went Nuclear between heavyweight boxing champ Deontay Wilder and former champ Shannon Briggs -- with the two Tearing Into Each Other in the middle of NYC. The boxers were at the weigh in for the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Bryant Jennings fight when they started talkin' smack to each other. Shannon called Deontay a phony champion ... HBO and Showtime are teaming up so that Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, two of this generation’s most iconic boxers, can finally face off in the ring in a pay-per-view televised May bout. Also Read: 17 of the Most Dramatic Sports Movie Moments: From ‘Rocky’ to ‘McFarland, USA’ (Photos) The networks are working together because the fighters have exclusive contracts for separate channels, with Mayweather locked into a six-fight Showtime deal and Pacquiao tethered to HBO. It’s not an unprecedented union between the rivals, as HBO and Showtime previously joined forces in 2002 for a bout between heavyweights Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.

Boxing fans will finally get a showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. The two men have signed on for a May 2 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after years of failed negotiations. Almost just as interesting, the event marks a rare revenue share for HBO and Showtime. The two pay cable networks are collaborating on the event, a rare pay-per-view split last seen in the 2002 match between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. (Pacquiao and promoter Bob Arum have a PPV deal with HBO, while Mayweather is a top attraction at Showtime.)

A League of Their Own is back tonight (August 29) and we're looking forward to seeing our favourite sports stars doing ridiculous things again - hooray! To celebrate the return of the show, we headed out to Elstree to hang out backstage with the boys - James Corden, Jack Whitehall, Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff - while they prepared for another show.
As well as making the frankly ridiculous decision to take on one of the endgames - we're not going to go into it, we're still cringing (and a little bit in pain) - we got the guys together for a bit of a chat, and found out what they had to say about some burning questions we have...

Last week, Variety reported that Jamie Foxx is attached to play one of the greatest boxing legends of all time in a new untitled biopic. Foxx will be taking on the role of Mike Tyson in the film, which is currently being written by Terence Winter (The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire). This is an impressive set of talent so far, and Foxx seems like a good fit to play the athlete.
According to the report, "producers are eager to tackle Tyson’s life story." There's no information on what aspects of the Tyson's life the film will focus on though. The boxer is "known for the power and ferocity he displayed in the ring, Tyson became not just the top boxer at the end of the ’80s but one of the most popular sports figures, with a rough around-the-edges personality he displayed both in and out of the ring.

Variety reported Wednesday that Terence Winter, writer and producer behind shows like Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos, is throwing his proverbial hat into the literal boxing ring by writing a biopic on boxer Mike Tyson.
And a source told Variety that Tyson would be portrayed by none other than Jamie Foxx. The film is untitled as of yet.
Tyson’s been making his own comeback story in the cultural scene for the last few years, including his infamous cameo in The Hangover, the eponymous documentary Tyson by James Toback in 2008, the release of his one-man Broadway show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth and most recently of all, a bizarre turn as a cartoon detective on the upcoming TV show Mike Tyson Mysteries.
That still leaves plenty of territory for Winter to mine in his screenplay, be it his seedy complications with the law, his title fights with Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield...

However, he insisted that his absence is not a "snub" and would have liked to have attended if possible.
Murray underwent disc surgery on his lower back in September, and is currently on the road to recovery in order to be fit for the Australian Open in January.

World heavyweight boxing champion with a star role in Rocky V
When Tommy Morrison outpointed George Foreman to win the Wbo version of the world heavyweight boxing title in 1993, it seemed he had it all. He was then aged 24, and three years earlier had starred in the film Rocky V alongside Sylvester Stallone. With millions in the bank and an internationally recognised face, he had beaten a huge figure in Foreman and was intent on cashing in on his fame.
But his life changed forever in 1996 when he tested HIV positive, and his boxing licence was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic commission. In a nationally broadcast press conference, Morrison said: "I lived a permissive, fast and reckless lifestyle. I hope I can serve as a warning that living this lifestyle can really only lead to one thing, and that's misery. I thought I was bulletproof and I'm not." A decade later Morrison,...
