Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” isn’t new to the “turn something innocent into a horror movie” fad. Brave gamers might remember diving into the twisted mind of American McGee’s Alice, or indie film diehards could have caught 2010’s Alice in Murderland. Writer and director Richard John Taylor explores forbidden but charted territory with his fresh psychological thriller Alice in Terrorland, which can’t help but earn comparisons to other horror forward Wonderland adaptations. Luckily for Taylor’s cerebrally nasty and visually slick reimagining, the average lookalike doesn’t set a high bar to clear — hardly spectacular, but damn sure better than something like Alice in Murderland.
Lizzy Willis stars as little orphan Alice (named after Carroll’s book), the only survivor of a house fire that claimed her parents’ lives. Alice relocates to her grandmother’s sprawling yet dilapidated estate, where Ruth (Rula Lenska) assumes caretaking duties.

Considering he has already released three films in 2023, writer/director Richard John Taylor continues his busy streak with this take on Alice In Wonderland. His latest work, Alice in Terrorland, opens on a house engulfed in fire while a terrified girl cowers in the corner. As the tragedy leaves Alice (Lizzie Willis) orphaned, she is sent to live with her estranged grandmother, Beth (Rula Lenska).
Arriving at their spacious family home, Alice is awestruck by the old building that is named Wonderland after Lewis Carroll’s iconic book. Beth shares a warning to stay out of the woods, although this does not stop her granddaughter from being terrorized by mysterious figures or disappearing down a horrific rabbit hole.
What kept Beth apart from her family for so long?...

The Huntress of Auschwitz begins with a young woman identified only as The Huntress (Lowri Watts-Joyce) meeting with Amelia Kaminska (Rula Lenska) and saying that she’s found “Him” before producing an old photo of a man in a World War 2 German uniform. Then we get a long montage accompanied by a hideous acoustic song of her flying from Los Angeles to London.
That’s when the alarms started going off in my head. Writer/director Richard John Taylor put an almost identical sequence in his film The Haunting of Pendle Hill which also starred Lowri Watts-Joyce. Recycling footage from that talkfest was not a good sign.
She takes a room at a less than welcoming inn where she meets John (Noel Brendan Mcalley) who asks her why she’s come to this remote in.

Stevi was only permitted to eat cold slop during the challenge, which saw him sporting a long blonde wig and what was possibly one of Sherrie Hewson's dresses.
Despite the effort put into his outfit, the former X Factor contestant didn't get into character as much as Bobby, belching and burping as Bobby attempted to place a red carnation in his hair, before giving up and forcing it down his frock.

"There are two types of politicians," says Nigel Farage, deep in discussion with 'the drunk ones' from Gogglebox. "Those who want to be something and those who want to do something. I want to do something."
Nigel Farage definitely wants to "do something". Judging by his latest venture into TV, courtesy of a very generous Channel 4, that "something" is be on TV. Here is a man who wants to be famous and he's just about willing to do anything to get there. Even it means having beer splashed on you and flirting with D-listers.
Steph and Dom Meet Nigel Farage was yet another 30 minutes of handy free publicity for Farage in a pre-election year that will make or break his party. It revealed very little about the man we didn't otherwise know, other than the fact he fits in very well with a pair of posh bumbling booze hounds.

Though he may have been but an animated model given life through primitive special effects, King Kong, with his doomed loved for the beautiful blonde, has become one of the most beloved of all movie characters, revived in remakes, sequels and knock-offs. But Kong wasn’t the only massive simian to grace the silver screen. Here’s a look at the ten best giant ape movies.
Honorable Mention: A*P*E
The ad campaign for the 1976 Korean film A*P*E warned “Not to be confused with King Kong”. A captive giant ape, after escapes from a freighter and sets his destructive sights on Seoul, Korea where he falls for an American actress (Joanna Kerns ) filming a movie there. A*P*E was originally filmed in 3-D so there are countless shots of a man in a moth-eaten ape suit throwing Styrofoam boulders at the camera.

The BBC is having its own celebrations, but what are fans doing to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who?
Plenty of posh things are going on this year to mark Doctor Who’s 50th year, some, like the BFI season, Mark Gatiss docudrama, and of course the anniversary special are already in full swing, while others are being kept under wraps until closer to November the 23rd.
The glossy, official celebrations are one thing of course, and they’ll receive publicity aplenty. Alongside those, we want to highlight the smaller stuff, to support the publications, plans, and events being organised here in the UK and abroad by Doctor Who fans. To this end, here’s the first of our soon-to-be regular Doctor Who 50th anniversary local round-ups…

Alongside those, we want to highlight the smaller stuff, to support the publications, plans, and events being organised here in the UK and abroad by Doctor Who fans. To this end, here’s the first of our soon-to-be regular Doctor Who 50th anniversary local round-ups…

Rula Lenska has strongly refuted ex-husband Dennis Waterman's claims that she asked for domestic violence. In an upcoming appearance on Piers Morgan's ITV talk show, Minder actor Waterman admits to "lashing out" at Lenska during their marriage. The 64-year-old claims that Waterman threatened her with glass and knocked her unconscious with a telephone in an incident around 1994, midway through their 11-year marriage. She told the Daily Mail: "It was late, and he'd done his usual turning-the-music-up number. He was very angry about something, and started grabbing photographs of my family off the wall and smashing them. "The room was littered with glass and he was picking up bits and (more)...

Film producer Trudie Styler has taken aim at veteran British actor Dennis Waterman after he confessed he punched his ex-wife Rula Lenska.
The beloved TV actor is at the centre of a storm in the U.K. after he reportedly made the comment during an interview for Piers Morgan's Life Stories, which has not yet been broadcast.
It's alleged Waterman told the chat show host, "She certainly wasn't a beaten wife, she was hit and that's different... It's not difficult for a woman to make a man hit her... The problem with strong, intelligent women is that they can argue well. And if there is a time where you can't get a word in... and I... I lashed out... It happened and I'm very, very ashamed of it."
Now Sting's wife Styler, who is an active campaigner against domestic violence, has spoken out to condemn Waterman's comments, insisting it's never acceptable for a man to strike a woman.
She tells U.K. morning show Daybreak, "We can't condone violence to women in any shape or form. I haven't heard from Dennis Waterman myself, I believe that the show in which he said those things hasn't been aired, but hitting a woman is absolutely not on in any shape or form, in my book."...

Co-writer of TV sitcoms On the Buses and The Rag Trade
At the height of his writing partnership with Ronald Chesney, Ronald Wolfe, who has died aged 89 after a fall, enjoyed huge success with the sitcom On the Buses; its bawdy humour was panned by the critics but lapped up by the viewing public. Originally turned down by the BBC, the idea for a comedy based around the antics of a driver and conductor giving their inspector the runaround at the Luxton Bus Company appealed to Frank Muir, head of entertainment at the newly launched ITV company London Weekend Television.
Reg Varney played Stan Butler, at the wheel of the No 11, and Bob Grant was his lothario conductor, Jack. The pair made life hell for the miserable Inspector Blake (Stephen Lewis). Blakey's "Get that bus out" and "I 'ate you, Butler" were two of the most frequent lines that flowed...

When documentary film-maker Nick Broomfield asked Sarah Palin for an interview, she said: 'You betcha!' But as her family and colleagues began to spill the beans, America's favourite 'hockey mom' became more elusive …
Nick Broomfield has not had an erotic dream about Sarah Palin. Not yet, anyway. "But I understand those who have," he says. "It's like how Christopher Hitchens said he found Thatcher arousing. They both hold an incredible fetishistic attraction. In a fundamental Christian society that's so repressed and fucked up, Palin represents the forbidden in a weird and mischievous way. I think that's an enormously tempting fantasy for a lot of very religious men. And that's why she's such an effective poster girl for a movement for which she's meant to represent something very different."
Attracted or not – and he details appreciatively her "kinky outfits and leather gear and those pointy shoes" – Palin has been much on Broomfield's mind.

Bringing together multiple components of genre filmmaking, the British feature Jack Falls found a recipe for success by winning best action film at the 2011 London Independent Film Festival.
It's the final part of a trilogy, each based on a graphic novel written by director Paul Tanter and illustrated by Oscar Alvarado.
More details, plus reaction from the filmmakers and a trailer for Jack Falls, are included below.

The actor, 64, on table tennis, making shoebox rooms, and the first time she saw a fox
I'm interested in people. I'm an actor, so I have to be – otherwise how can I play them? At drama school we were taught to listen, listen, listen – and if you do, you hear brilliant things. I was on tour with Rula Lenska in the play Losing Louis a few years ago. I was in a café and I heard this girl say to her friend: "Guess what I dreamt last night? I dreamt my boyfriend went off with Rula Lenska. Well, I dunno, it was someone with big hair anyway." I wanted to die laughing.
I love theatre. When it works properly and you're over the nerves and you've got a good play with nice audiences, that's my favourite thing to do.
The first time I saw a fox as a child I was beside myself with joy.
