The Office introduced a potential romance between Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesley (Jenna Fischer) in the first season. It played out over the years like Ross and Rachel on Friends, Tony and Angela in Who’s the Boss? and many other TV shows. When Jim and Pam finally married on The Office, Fischer said trying on the wedding dress was special.

Fischer was on a Television Critics Association panel on the set of The Office in 2009. While filming season 6, Fischer had already tried on Pam’s wedding dress and shared her emotions with the press. The Office is now streaming on Peacock.

Compared to other shows, The Office let Jim and Pam get together relatively quickly. They were in other relationships before the timing was finally right.

Lee Kirk is kind of a private guy that doesn’t share a lot of his life on the internet but can’t quite get away from it thanks to who he’s married to. Thankfully however she seems to do her part in keeping their family life off the radar as much as possible and supports him as much as she can in their marriage and their life. One might think it’s kind of tough being married to a famous actor when you’re a director/actor and not quite as famous as your spouse but he’s made it work and has managed to

Fisher plays the very serious and impatient host of the fictional program “An Hour and 60 Minutes,” while Armisen comes in to substitute for the band’s drummer, Philip Peeples, who could not make it to the taping. Armisen keeps interrupting the interview with his unwelcome comments and even takes a phone call in the middle, prompting Fisher to scold him. MaryAnn’s quick take…

You have two kids,” says the Saintly Sitcom Wife to her husband. “I have three.” Cue laugh tracks sprinkled with a few awwws: it’s so charming and romantic, ain’t it, when a woman has to mother her husband. And it’s very conducive to nookie, of course. Except it isn’t, and there’s nothing charming or funny about a 40-year-old man — like Perry here — who has never grown up.

Ordinary World starts out with a flashback to a 1995 performance by L.E.S. Skunks, the fictional rock band once fronted by Perry Miller (Billie Joe Armstrong). So right from the very first frame, viewers are clued in to the fact that Armstrong — the longtime lead singer of Green Day — is riffing on his own persona and career. In fact, as the film contrasts its opening with Perry’s more laid-back current life, it’s almost like a glimpse into an alternate reality in which Armstrong’s own band had faded into obscurity soon after the 1994 release of breakthrough album Dookie instead of continuing to generate hits for another couple decades.
Despite the opening’s focus on Perry’s musical heyday, the bulk of the film follows Perry still adjusting to suburban life in New York City with his wife (Selma Blair) and two kids (the elder of whom is...

Green Day was one of the bands that helped get me through my high school years. I'm a big fan of the band, and its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong stars in an upcoming film called Ordinary World. I had no idea this movie was a thing until I came across this trailer and it actually looks pretty good.
The film is a comedy, the story of which follows a character named Perry (Armstrong), who is a former punk rocker that is ten years into his band's "indefinite hiatus." He's "struggling with his adjustment to the real world, which includes working in his family's hardware store. When Perry's hotshot attorney wife (Selma Blair) and precocious young daughter forget his 40th birthday, his brother (Chris Messina) takes pity and gives him the money to throw a huge rockstar blowout in a fancy New York hotel. Billie Joe Armstrong may be a Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and the frontman of Green Day, one the biggest punk bands ever. But in “Ordinary World,” his first leading role, he’s nothing but a failed rock star missing his glory days.
Directed and written by Lee Kirk, Armstrong stars as Perry, a former punk rocker who is ten years into his band’s “indefinite hiatus” and is still struggling with adjusting to the real world. After his wife (Selma Blair) and his daughter (Madisyn Shipman) forget his 40th birthday, his brother (Chris Messina) takes pity and gives him money to throw the biggest birthday bash. Check out the latest trailer and poster below.

"Dad - sometimes you're just not there." An official trailer has arrived for an indie comedy titled Ordinary World, from the director of John Krasinski's The Giant Mechanical Man from 2012. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong stars in the film as a former punk rocker who is having trouble getting used to the "real world" after 10 years of leaving behind that world. When his wife & daughter forget his 40th birthday, his brother throws him a big party in New York where he encounters his old bandmates. The cast includes Selma Blair, Judy Greer, Madisyn Shipman, Dallas Roberts, Chris Messina and Fred Armisen. This looks like it might be fun, and it features original songs written and performed by Billie Joe Armstrong. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Lee Kirk's Ordinary World, in high def from Apple: Perry (Armstrong), a former punk rocker, is ten years into his band's...

Jenna Fischer and her husband Lee Kirk are relatively new parents (to 22-month-old son, Weston), so it was a luxury to spend a night out in New York City Monday. The pair attended a special screening of Girl Most Likely (starring Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening), hosted by The Cinema Society and Brooks Brothers. Afterwards, the couple headed over - along with much of the cast - to a rooftop party at Hotel Americano. “They were adorable,” says an onlooker. While guests sipped Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, “Jenna munched on a beef slider, and Lee stayed close...

I have a lot of respect for street performers. From music to magic and everything in between, street performer add a level of artistic vibrancy to areas otherwise typically bogged down in the dry, monotone corporate atmosphere. Have you ever been having a bad day, been walking along sulking in your grumpiness, then come upon a street performer who actually made you smile, even for a moment? If not, I hope you do, because it works… and, this is where The Giant Mechanical Man succeeds.
For a feature film debut, writer and director Lee Kirk does play it safe on some level. The Giant Mechanical Man certainly follows a fairly standard format of the romantic comedy genre. The humor is offbeat, quirky but never heavy-handed. The film may be playing itself safe structurally, but the content is what makes the film enjoyable. How many romantic comedies have we seen that...

New: What Jenna Fischer Does Outside of The Office One of my favorite films from this spring’s USA Film Festival was the charming romance The Giant Mechanical Man (New Video/Tribeca Film; now available), a passion project for Jenna Fischer, best known for her role in The Office. Actually, “passion project” takes on multiple meanings — not only did she shepherd the film throughout the process in her role as producer, but she fell in love with and married writer-director Lee Kirk along the way. Fischer stars as Janice, who’s struggling with love and adulthood in general; left with no choice but to move in with her sister (Malin Akerman), Janice eventually finds romance with street performer Tim...

Jenna Fischer has said that she lost the weight gained during her pregnancy "slowly" and "moderately". The Office actress welcomed a baby boy named Weston Lee with husband Lee Kirk in September 2011. It was their first child. Fischer, who has previously insisted that the pressure placed on women to lose baby weight is "unreasonable", revealed that it took her nearly a year to shed the pounds she gained before giving birth as her busy schedule did not allow time for intense work-outs or lengthy cooking sessions. "I didn't start exercising until Weston was 6 months old and was taking regular naps," Fischer explained to People. "When I go back to work on the show, I'm probably just going to have to take a break from any of that extra working out. I think just getting through the day will be enough." She continued: (more)...

The Giant Mechanical Man (Tgmm), the Lee Kirk film starring Jenna Fischer (The Office) and Chris Messina (Six Feet Under), is for audiences who have a yen for a true romantic comedy, one that feels gentle and real, but lacks the heroine getting the runs in the middle of traffic. Or a scene where a man's chest hair is pulled off. Or a finale where an overweight, pothead/pornographer gets the beautiful blonde. It's also one, thankfully, that's never been in the vicinity of Nicholas Sparks.
If you have to place this delightful offering anywhere, Tgmm is much closer in sensibility to (500) Days of Summer than to any Apatow commodity. That has a lot to do with Kirk's effortless direction, the impressive casting, cinematographer Doug Emmet's superb take on the Detroit locale, and the oddball trajectory of the love story.

Jenna Fischer's TV counterpart Pam Halpert may have come into her own over the seven seasons of The Office, but she's still not a whole lot like the bubbly, energetic actress Fischer is in real life. At the same time, remember the episode when Pam talked her way into becoming Dunder-Mifflin's office manager, taking over all the tiny details of the office that no one else remembered to handle? Turns out that's exactly something FIscher would do-- and what she did when she signed on as the producer of her husband Lee Kirk's film The Giant Mechanical Man. Sometimes when actors sign on as producers, it's a glorified title that basically means they helped get the money to make it. But Fischer, who also stars in the film as a shy woman who falls for a street performer (Chris Messina), was doing plenty of the grunt work-- filling out paperwork,...

Chicago – Don’t let the awful title fool you — “The Giant Mechanical Man” is not sci-fi. This cute dramedy tackles well-trod ground in the world of indie film but Lee Kirk conveys enough honest affection for his well-crafted characters that the piece works. With a very strong ensemble portraying interesting, believable characters, “The Giant Mechanical Man” isn’t a breakthrough film but is an entertaining slice of life nonetheless.
