"When you're a superhero, sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for..." Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for an indie drama My True Fairytale, marking the feature directorial debut of D. Mitry. The short synopsis sets this up quite well: Angie Goodwin runs away after a horrific car crash to make her dream of becoming a superhero come true. The other synopsis says after the crash, Angie "decides to fulfill her childhood fantasy and embarks on a mysterious journey." Her recovery process is very strange. Starring Emma Kennedy as Angie, Darri Ingolfsson, Corin Nemec, Taylor Cole, Alyshia Ochse, Arnold Chun, Hector Hugo, Morgan Lindholm, Bj Mitchell, Juliana Destefano, and Mark Daugherty. This looks quite odd, not exactly as the description explains, but it might still be a worthwhile story to tell. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for D. Mitry's My True Fairytale, direct from YouTube: Angie Goodwin,...

Nick Cannon, Kal Penn and more on Twitter are coming to Jemele Hill’s defense as Donald Trump demanded Espn apologize for the SportsCenter anchor’s comments calling the president a white supremacist and bigot.
“Espn is paying a really big price for its politics (and bad programming),” Trump tweeted Friday morning. “People are dumping it in Record numbers. Apologize for untruth!”
His call comes four days after SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill fired off a series of tweets declaring the president a white supremacist who never would have been elected “if he were not white.” The White House also spoke out against Hill’s comments,...

You might know him best as oddball Angelos Epithemiou, but actor Dan Skinner has admitted he was keen to take a break from his alter-ego.
The 42-year-old comic told Digital Spy that he is working on a new Angelos live show - the first time he'll have played the character since 2013.
"I haven't left him behind," he insisted. "But I needed to take a break from it for a little, because otherwise I'd have just been doing that.
"People will always go, 'Do some more, do some more' - but I never ever wanted to do just one thing."
Skinner appeared as Angelos on the live circuit for seven years, before playing the character on BBC Two's anarchic quiz Shooting Stars from 2009 to 2011.
"Then there was another five years after Shooting Stars of doing it on television, going on tour and all the rest of it. By the end of that cycle,...

"Kids' TV isn't what it used to be."
We've all said it, our rose-tinted spectacles firmly affixed - but there's an animated show airing right now on Cbbc that's earned plaudits across the board.
Strange Hill High - a fantasy mystery series created using a combination of puppetry and digital effects - was nominated for a BAFTA in 2013 and has been branded "sharp, funny" and "a sure-fire success" by critics.
Set in a school filled with fantastical secrets, the series follows the quick-witted and street smart Mitchell Tanner (Doc Brown), ever-confident Becky Butters (Emma Kennedy) and class nerd Templeton.
"It's my favourite thing that I've ever done - even more than The Simpsons," says head writer Josh Weinstein, who penned some of the Springfield clan's most memorable episodes - 'Who Shot Mr Burns?' , '22 Short Films About Springfield' and more - and worked as showrunner on the long-running animation...

Bridesmaids, the Us comedy and 'fem-friendship' movie is being seen as a cultural landmark, as women get the killer lines
The film is fast-paced and riotous and represents a dire warning about eating Mexican food before attending a wedding dress fitting. It also has a lot of entertaining women in it. Released in Britain this week and already hailed by critics as the movie of the summer, Bridesmaids is also being called a landmark moment for women in comedy. The Huffington Post called it a "cultural phenomenon" and it has taken more than $100m at the Us box office.
Produced by Judd Apatow, the film is being compared to his previous hits, usually seen as targeted at men. Bridesmaids' figures are already stronger than the Apatow-directed 40-Year-Old Virgin, which took $21m in its first weekend and went on to become a cult hit.
