When Shawn Levy was offered the chance to direct Deadpool & Wolverine, he quickly signed on not just because he loved the character but because of a major regret.
“On the set of The Adam Project, Ryan asked me if I would consider doing Deadpool 3,” Levy told Empire. “And I remember him saying, ‘I know you’re gonna say no, but I’m really going to try and talk you into it.’ And my response was, ‘I’m not gonna f***ing say no, are you kidding? It’s a hard and immediate yes, sir!’”
For Levy, the opportunity to direct Deadpool & Wolverine allowed him to make up for turning down The Wolverine a decade prior. “When we were making Real Steel, Hugh was looking to do The Wolverine, and he asked me if I wanted to do it,” Levy said. “And like a moron, I said, ‘No’. Because...

“X-Men” is back in the cultural zeitgeist thanks to Marvel Animation’s hit animated series “X-Men ’97,” and while it’s a different beast, it is paving the way for some of the first significant mutants to join the MCU this summer in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” We already know that star/producer Ryan Reynolds offered filmmaker Shawn Levy the “Deadpool 3” gig during the filming of “The Adam Project” (they also worked together on “Free Guy”).

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is certainly one of the releases this year that is meant to kickstart great things. First, the movie is Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, something that fans have been asking for, well, since the MCU existed. Second, it’s part of a new strategy that aims to restore at least some of the faith that fans had in the franchise and in the studio.
Third it’s going to feature a large number of cameos and variants, some confirmed and some only rumored.
Early reports regarding the movie claimed that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will prove vital for the continuation of the MCU due to its Multiversal themes, and the more about the plot we learn, the more this seems likely.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ marks a significant release this year, poised to ignite a new era. For starters, it marks Deadpool’s inaugural venture into the MCU, fulfilling a long-standing wish of fans. Secondly, it’s a key component of a fresh strategy aimed at revitalizing faith in both the franchise and the studio.
Moreover, the film promises a plethora of cameos and variants, with some already confirmed and others swirling in the rumor mill.
Initial reports suggest that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will play a crucial role in the ongoing narrative of the MCU, particularly because of its Multiversal themes. As details about the plot emerge, this assertion appears increasingly plausible.
Interestingly, while there’s considerable excitement surrounding the film’s release, one question seems to be flying under the radar: what happens next? Once the hype subsides and the theatrical run concludes, what lies ahead for the Deadpool and Wolverine variants?...

Marvel Studios is said to be very close to announcing a writer (or writers) for the long-awaited X-Men movie, and we may know which scribes have emerged as Kevin Feige and co.'s top picks to pen the reboot.
According to Jeff Sneider on the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Rafe Judkins and Michael Lesslie are in the mix to write the script. He believes these two are the finalists to land the gig, but notes that other writers may still be in contention.
Judkins previously worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie, and more recently served as the showrunner for Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation. Lesslie, meanwhile, penned the screenplay for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and 2016's Assassin’s Creed movie.

Shawn Levy's upcoming satirical superhero flick "Deadpool & Wolverine" will star Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the title characters, two bickering vigilantes who have very different approaches to their vigilantism. Wolverine, while impulsive, makes sure he is in the moral right before he activates his switchblade knuckles and begins stabbing bad guys. Deadpool is more of a "shoot first, never ask questions" antihero, painfully aware of his own place in a massive media franchise; Deadpool regularly breaks the fourth wall and lambastes the company that made the film he's in.
Deadpool is also weirdly compassionate when it comes to the people and animals he loves. He will happily decapitate a bad guy and joke about his victim's misery, but then return home to his beloved Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) where they will cuddle, make goo-goo eyes at one another, and engage in sexual acts not usually seen in films produced by the Disney Corporation.

What could get us more hooked than movies and TV shows of the Western genre? From light-hearted tales of glorious adventures to heart-pounding dramas of violent showdowns between lawmen, outlaws, and ordinary bystanders, they're all wildly entertaining. And in the 2020s, we seem to be experiencing a new heyday for the genre.
Last year alone saw the release of such Westerns as 1923 and Lawmen: Bass Reeves developed by Taylor Sheridan, the satirical Strange Way of Life with Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, Australia's Faraway Downs with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, and even a South Korean take on the genre in Song of the Bandits. All in all, Western has not stagnated and continues to thrive on both the big and small screen.

The brand-new issue of Empire – featuring a world-exclusive first look at Deadpool & Wolverine, the summer’s most anticipated blockbuster – is now on sale, folks. And you’ve no doubt already rushed out to your nearest good or evil newsagent, picked up a copy, and pored over every glorious word from Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Levy, Kevin Feige, and their chums.
But what you won’t have read is how Levy became involved in the project. You might imagine that Levy was asked to come on board as director, producer, and co-writer by his good friend Reynolds, whom he had directed in Free Guy and The Adam Project. And you wouldn’t be entirely wide of the mark on that. “On the set of The Adam Project, Ryan asked me if I would consider doing Deadpool 3,” says Levy. “And I remember him saying, ‘I know you’re gonna say no,...

The goat is him. That sounds a little strange, but that’s what has happened with the title of the upcoming Jordan Peele-produced horror movie. Once titled Goat (as in “greatest of all time”), the movie has since been retitled Him. It, too, has been given an official release date of September 19th, 2025.
Him was announced earlier this year, a few months before the most recent Jordan Peele production, Monkey Man, hit theaters. With that movie doing well with critics, Universal and Monkeypaw Productions are putting even more stock in him.
Him, which has been described as “an anti-sports horror movie”, was actually part of the 2022 Black List, the annual survey which reveals the best unproduced screenplays of any given year. Then known as Goat, Him has the following plot, as per The Black List: “A promising first-round draft pick is invited to train at the private compound of...

Nobody expected Hugh Jackman to reprise the role of Wolverine when he announced that he had hung up the claws after James Mangold's Logan, and the chances of a third Deadpool movie featuring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc With a Mouth seemed pretty slim when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox back in 2019.
Even so, both actors will return as their respective characters for this summer's Deadpool and Wolverine, and fans are wondering if we will see more of Wade and Wolvie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe down the line.
Empire put the question to Reynolds and Jackman during an interview for the latest issue of the magazine.
“I’m very nervous talking to you,” responded Reynolds. “I’ve never been so scared of what’s coming out of my mouth,” added Jackman.

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" follow.
The goriest moment of "X-Men '97" season 1 will assuredly go down as episode 5, "Remember It," which saw the mutant nation of Genosha wiped out just as it was in the dark "X-Men" comic arc "E is for Extinction."
Episode 9, "Tolerance is Extinction Part 2" just gave it a runner-up though. Magneto, who has returned to his old villain ways, is fighting the X-Men on his new base of Asteroid M. Wolverine, famous for his adamantium-coated claws and skeleton, stabs Magneto. Undeterred, Magneto uses his powers to tear out the adamantium from Wolverine's body.
This bit, like most of the episode, is taken from 1993 "X-Men" comic crossover event "Fatal Attractions." The episode ends with a shot recreating a panel from "X-Men" #25 (drawn by Andy Kubert) of liquified adamantium heeding Magneto's call and pouring out of Wolverine's battered body. Writer Peter David first suggested this as a joke,...

MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.
Since the movie is a long time away from being released, there’s not much information about it except for the supposed release date, still we gathered all the rumors in one place and decided to present you with this neat guide.
‘Avengers: Secrets Wars’ is heavily rumored to reboot the current MCU
The sixth Avengers title draws inspiration from the ‘Secret Wars’ comic storylines released in 1984 and 2015, particularly the latter, which focused more on the multiverse. When it comes to transforming into an iconic superhero, for example, Superman, most of us would expect a grueling regime filled with rigorous workouts. Did we forget to mention those strict diets? Of course, that’s also a requirement, after all, donning the role of the Man of Steel is not a small feat.
But for David Corenswet, who is set to play Clark Kent in an upcoming project, the journey to becoming Superman was anything but conventional. James Gunn’s Superman is scheduled for release in 2025, and just lately, DC fans have gotten the first glimpse of the character’s iconic costume.

Deadpool & Wolverine is shaping up to be one of the biggest Marvel movies ever and a new batch of stills (which appear to have originated from Empire) have today hit social media.
In them, we see more of Wade Wilson's birthday party, a battle in the snow, the Merc with the Mouth exploring - and possibly fighting in - the Tva, a new shot of the anti-hero and Logan, and Cassandra Nova in all her intimidating glory.
There's also a great behind-the-scenes photo of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman suited up alongside director Shawn Levy.
The biggest reveal, however, comes our way in that shot of Deadpool and Mr. Paradox. Behind him, we see the Sacred Timeline branching uncontrollably, just like it did at the end of Loki season 1. However, at the end of season 2, it had taken on the shape of the tree-like Yggdrasil, suggesting Deadpool & Wolverine takes place before that.

Hugh Jackman is set to return as Logan/ Wolverine in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor had already retired from playing the character after 2017’s Logan and a rich history dating back to the first X-Men. However, he couldn’t resist being in a film with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and thus came back to the role for the film.
Despite stating his retirement with Logan, Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine
The trailer and the promotional stills have fans excited, and seeing Jackman back as his most iconic character is an absolute treat. With some pointing out the lack of his iconic cowl, a still of Jackman from the film has been edited by fans to their liking. One interesting fan edit features a complete costume change and hair, bearing a resemblance to the Dragon Ball character Vegeta.

It has been a trend for actors to gain muscle for roles that require absolute strength. Superman, in particular, must have a Godly physique, and Henry Cavill’s body was seemingly closest to that. The new image of David Corenswet training for Superman shows a similar intent of the actor.

However, his training and diet are not similar to Hugh Jackman’s long and brutal one. The Wolverine star put himself in different layers of hell at the age of 55 and while many had doubts, Jackman shined in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer as he flashed his muscular biceps in the sleeveless attire of the X-Men hero.

Shhh. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of the new teaser for A Quiet Place: Day One. While series creator John Krasinski has opted to do a much more family-friendly fare with the Ryan Reynolds movie If, A Quiet Place has been handed off to some pretty capable hands as Michael Sarnoski steps up to sit in the director’s seat. Cassandra Nova, played by The Crown’s Emma Corrin, is finally being introduced into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine (Deadpool 3) film. Fans went into overdrive theorizing about the bald figure glimpsed in the initial teaser, suspecting Cassandra would be the main villain. And the latest trailer sealed the deal, showing off her crazy psychic powers that rendered Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) adamantium claws absolutely powerless. Now, casual MCU fans may not be familiar with Corrin’s character, but in the comics, Cassandra is a force to be reckoned with. Her arrival could spell disaster not only for

The upcoming Marvel film Deadpool & Wolverine is perhaps one of the only films of 2024 that moviegoers are excited about. It is the presumable final film in the Deadpool series and the merger of the Fox-era X-Men and the Marvel Cinematic Universe into one. It is one big love letter to the fans who have been supporting the films for so long. But it almost didn’t happen.
It’s no secret that actor Hugh Jackman has had a love/hate relationship with the role of Logan, aka Wolverine. The actor began playing the character in 2000 with the release of the first X-Men movie and appeared in nine films in both major roles and small cameos. But after so long, he kept saying to himself, “This is the last time”, before eventually returning. The same applies here.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
For all of the many, many logic leaps that superhero stories require, one of the most glaring occurred in X-Men. Why would the X-Men employ Wolverine, a guy with a metal skeleton, to fight Magneto, a guy who controls metal with his mind? Sure, occasional stories addressed this question, at least by having Magneto toss the ol’ Canucklehead across a room from time to time. But the Master of Magnetism rarely pressed his advantage.
Except, that is, for one story, which laid the groundwork for the ninth episode of X-Men ’97, “Tolerance is Extinction Part Two.” The episode recreates a scene from 1993’s X-Men #25, written by Fabian Nicieza and penciled by Andy Kubert, in which Magneto does the unthinkable (or the inevitable?) and tears the adamantium skeleton out of Wolverine’s body.

Wolverine is a character that was conceived to suffer. Throughout his history in comics, films, video games, and TV shows, the character has rarely known respite but carries on anyway. X-Men ’97 is no exception, finally giving the character his inevitable moment of torment in its latest episode.
Wolverine in X-Men ’97
As a character, Logan has often been described as a ronin, a samurai without a master, who is fiercely loyal to those he loves and is a victim of tragedy more often than fortune. It is perhaps this inevitability of ruin that causes Logan to struggle ever harder against his adversaries, especially when it comes to his family and friends, as we see in Episode 9 of X-Men ’97, Tolerance is Extinction Part 2.

Hugh Jackman’s portrayal as the iconic X-Men character has only aged like fine wine over the past two decades. The actor, who has been playing the character throughout his Hollywood career, is once again set to embody the fierce mutant in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine and he looks even more remarkable donning the classic Wolverine look on-screen. However, transforming himself into the character has definitely not been an easy feat for the actor.

After “Avengers: Endgame”, Marvel has released numerous movies and series to keep their fandom engaged. However, following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, only a few of these titles have received positive reviews. Among the well-received films are “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” In terms of series, “WandaVision,” “Loki,” and “What If…?” have managed to captivate viewers. Bob Iger has finally got into action to implement a new strategy.
Many Marvel fans have voiced concerns that recent stories lack the impact of earlier instalments. In the past, Marvel Entertainment typically released only 1-2 movies per year, each with a strong narrative, compelling villains, and memorable moments. Now, Disney CEO Bob Iger has made a significant decision regarding the future of MCU content.

X-Men ’97 is already nailing everything and scoring an eternal place in its viewers’ hearts, with more than 90% of audiences and nearly 100% of critics impressed by the immaculate way this story has been helmed. Plus, this saga doesn’t seem to want to stop anytime soon, because it already has a season 2 greenlit while the first one still airs, meaning there’s more peak entertainment incoming.
X-Men ’97.
That being said, this peak entertainment could also bring about the possible event of the mutant superheroes fending off against the earth’s mightiest heroes, i.e. the Avengers. And while that is yet to be officially confirmed, Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Professor X in this animated series, has ignited the hope of that happening, nonetheless, with some really relatable reasoning.
X-Men vs The Avengers? Could Happen, Says Ross Marquand
[Warning: Don’t read ahead if you haven’t watched X-Men ’97 but are planning to watch it. Spoilers ahead of the same.

Death is not permanent, not in the Multiversal saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe anyway. Of course, we have mourned the death of the beloved villain turned-hero with a glorious purpose, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki but we got him back with an even more interesting twist— further exploration of the character even without the inherent shadow of his brother, Thor, as depicted in the previous movies in the MCU.
Robert Dowmey Jr. as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
Like Loki’s apparent death, fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man demise was perhaps the saddest part for any MCU fan. There could have always been more from the character but killing him off in the Avengers: Endgame made perfect sense and his death was glorious but with Deadpool & Wolverine, a lot can change.

Earlier today, Disney CEO Bob Iger outlines plans to reduce Marvel Studios' film and TV output over the next few years. This is part of a "quality over quantity" approach, which was implemented after several recent MCU projects underperformed.
In fact, the most recent big-screen release, The Marvels, ended up becoming the lowest-grossing MCU movie of all time after taking in just $206 million worldwide at the end of its theatrical run.
While speaking to Empire, studio heads Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito acknowledged that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going through a "rough time," but they both believe that this year's Deadpool and Wolverine will mark a turning point for the franchise.
“If we just stayed on top, that would have been the worst thing that could have happened to us," said D'Esposito. "We took a little hit, we’re coming back strong. Maybe when you do too much,...

Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D’Esposito and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige are addressing the rough patch the studio has been through over the last few years.
“If we just stayed on top, that would have been the worst thing that could have happened to us,” D’Esposito said in an interview with Empire. “We took a little hit, we’re coming back strong.”
He continued, “Maybe when you do too much, you dilute yourself a little bit. We’re not going to do that anymore. We learned our lesson. Maybe two to three films a year and one or two shows, as opposed to doing four films and four shows.”
D’Esposito is talking about “superhero fatigue,” which Disney CEO Bob Iger acknowledged in today’s earnings call. The plan going forward with Marvel Studios is to release “two good films” a year, possibly three, and cut the number of TV series spinoffs.
